Duty Shift Times

Also known as the day watch, Alpha Shift is the primary duty period for most senior officers aboard the USS Elysium.

Under normal operating conditions, the Commanding Officer commands the bridge during Alpha Shift, supported by senior officers and departmental personnel assigned to the watch.

Alpha Shift personnel report to their assigned posts at 0745, fifteen minutes before the watch begins, allowing Gamma Shift personnel to provide a complete operational handover before being relieved.

Commonly known as the swing watch, Beta Shift is the second duty period of the shipboard day and begins in the late afternoon.

Under normal operating conditions, the Executive Officer commands the bridge during Beta Shift, supported by the officers and personnel assigned to the watch.

Beta Shift personnel report to their assigned posts at 1545, fifteen minutes before the watch begins, allowing Alpha Shift personnel to provide a complete operational handover before being relieved.

Commonly referred to as the night watch, Gamma Shift covers the overnight operational period aboard the USS Elysium.

Bridge command during Gamma Shift is normally assigned to the Second Officer or another qualified command officer. Senior departmental officers may also assume command of the watch when assigned to do so.

Gamma Shift personnel report to their assigned posts at 2345, fifteen minutes before the watch begins, allowing Beta Shift personnel to provide a complete operational handover before being relieved.
