AWARDS

Elysium-Centric Awards

Joint Post Challenge Champion

Every year, Elysium will run a Joint post challenge for a month. A player must have 1 JP with each player in a one on One situation. Mass JP's do not count towards this. They have 1 month to get this done.

Mission Stars

If you participated in over 50% of the current mission as a player-character, you are entitled to a Bronze Mission Star. If this is your fifth mission on board the Elysium, a Silver Mission Star is worn in place of five Bronze Mission Stars, and a Deployment Commendation Ribbon is authorized to be worn, if applicable. After 5 silver stars, a gold star is worn.

Silver Book

Replacing the Golden Scroll award, we are now having the Silver book award.

Is awarded monthly to the writer/s of posts that have been of quality and shows their characters and the story to the best advantage. NOT to be confused with the Library Excellence award from OF. This award is for Elysium players only. The posts have to be of good quality, with minimal grammar and spelling errors. They do not need to advance the overall plot and can be what are termed filler posts. They must however be over 500 words long if a solo post and over 1000 words if a joint post.

Collaborative Post Excellence

For those Joint Posts which are wonderful and excellent and who's writers deserve recognition.

Star of Hope

The Star of Hope is awarded for combat action only, and is awarded to any person killed in action while serving the armed forces of the United Federation of Planets. It is only awarded posthumously.

Outstanding Antagonist

This award denotes a players exceptionally well crafted villain who has contributed to a simms plot line convincingly over a series of posts.

ELYSIUM UNIT CITATION

Awarded to a group of players who have demonstrated cohesiveness and prowess in joint-posting, interacting with each other to further the plotline, contribution to the collective story and generally writing a fun posting thread to read.

ELYSIUM SILVER CROSS

The highest-level award bestowed upon a ELYSIUM player, the recipient of this award demonstrates qualities of almost every other award here -- from furthering the plot in a way that entices others to jump in and participate, to writing his or her character in a believable, "real" yet fantastic way. A protagonist, an antagonist; a dreamer; a good storyteller. Note that this award is very specific: qualified recipients may not be found in all award cycles. This award does not necessarily equate to the player who posts the most frequently; rather, it is the content and context that is awarded.

Command Commendation

Awarded by the choice of the Commanding Officer, the recipient of this award typically has contributed out-of-character in some way to the administration of the sim. Or perhaps the CO just likes you. *shrug* Difficult to say

PLOT DEVELOPMENT CITATION

For developing the current plotline into something original and unexpected, yet not unbelievable. In other words, the crewmember that throws the best "monkey wrenches" into the plot to make it interesting, but not off-center, one-sided or a personal "hero" campaign.

SERVICE COMMENDATION AWARD

Awarded to the crew member that posts in such a way that entices others to "jump in" and help build upon that post; a "team player," writing for the benefit of group interaction.

'HEART OF THE TIGER' AWARD

Awarded to the player/s who has taken considerable effort in creating action-packed, edge-of-your-seat combat posts in a way that is both believable yet incredible; the type of writing they make little toy action figures out of!

Bridge Officer Certification

Completed your Bridge Officer Cert? Let us know!

Obsidian Fleet Only Awards

Captain's Personal Merit

Awarded to the crew member who the Captain feels worthy.

Creativity Award

The Creativity Award is presented to those who come up with an outstanding idea during a mission. This can be in battle, a diplomatic meeting, medical crises, or even during a shore leave. There is no exacting criteria for the qualifications of this award. Sample posts are required.

Crew's Choice Award

Voted on by the crew of the simm in question. No real criteria, just the player which the crew feels excelled that month.

DeForest Kelley Humor Award

This award is meant to help us all remember that a bit of light-heartedness goes a long way; even in the face of danger. DeForest Kelley was as much a comedian as he was an actor of the 20th century. Therefore, this is as much a tribute to him as it is an award to any recipient. This award can be given to any player in Obsidian Fleet

Good Conduct Medal

For exceptional performance of one’s duties. This medal denotes a committed and dependable individual both on and off duty.

Library Excellence Ribbon

Awarded for the best writing style: clear, precise, and easy to follow – yet allows the story to flow smoothly and easily passed off to another crew member. Also includes spelling and grammar used properly.

Meritorious Newcomer Award

This award will be given to the newcomer who makes themselves known and puts in the most effort to make their character a valuable addition.

Non Player Character Award

For the development of Non-Player Characters. The lives of our characters are in a setting populated by countless other people who are important to our featured individuals. This award marks the achievement of a player for his/her development of engaging, detailed NPCs who add realism and dimension to the simm.

Outstanding Volunteer Award

For the player who makes every effort to find significant ways to lend a hand to the simm’s command staff. Performs excellent support work to the best of his/her abilities. Reserved for out of character contributions only, as such efforts differ in scope and often involve a player’s personal time commitment beyond the game play. (Not as prestigious as the Ribbon of Commitment)

Professional Merit

Awarded to the character who has developed his/her character with considerable talent, making that character a joy to interact with.

Purple Heart

Awarded to personnel who are injured in the line of duty. They do not have to be on their deathbed, or even have broken limbs and such. Basically, any crew member with an injury or injuries that a CO feels worth making record of should receive this award. Also applies to POWs: Given to Starfleet officers who are captured by enemy forces for an extended period of time.

Recruitment Award

For recognition of recruitment successes.

In order to secure a bright and long lasting future for Obsidian Fleet, there must always be the continual introduction of excited and eager new players. This award is to recognize those who have successfully recruited a new player to the simm who remains on that simm for a minimum period of 6 months. (OOC award, not available to the simm’s CO)

Rose Award

Awarded to the crew member/s that has made significant "romantic" character advancements. This has become an award in itself because romance gives a sense of realism adds dimension to a character. Because this aspect of literature can often be very difficult to write, players that progress their character romantically deserve recognition

Whoopi Goldberg Diversity Ribbon

Awarded for the successful portrayal of a non-human character aboard a simulation. In the interest of diversity, this award is granted to individuals who have done an exemplary job writing and developing their non-human characters. Playing ruthless Romulans, killer Klingons, freeloading Ferengi, clever Cardassians, benevolent Bajorans, vigilant Vulcans, aspiring Andorians and any others, while doing so in an excellent fashion, is worthy of recognition. This award can also be used to commend those players who support other diversity factors in real life and our sims, including race, gender identity, ethnicity, and more.

Zefram Cochrane Writing Award

For those who excel at writing unique and well-thought out styles and posts during a mission. This could include discovery, first contact, battle scenes, romance, general obstacles, and more.
