General News - The USS Elysium has returned to the Sol System.... without their beloved Admiral

The USS Elysium has returned to the Sol System.... without their beloved Admiral The year is now 2394, and the Elysium was lost. Starfleet has deployed a research team to investigate the disappearance of Admiral Sharr and his crew. However, their efforts are in vain, and after six months only passive searches are taking place as life continues.

The Elysium has been stranded in the Andromeda Galaxy after suffering a crippling attack that forced the ship through space/time leaving her a floating wreck. Six months have passed, and the crew have patched up the ship as best as they can.

As life started to return to normal, the "accidental" death of the Executive Officer and rumours of mutiny have caused the crew to be on edge yet again. Tensions grow aboard the former flagship as a thorough investigations sweep through the crew and their activities in an attempt to identify the ringleaders of the mutiny.

Admiral Sharr had activated the Artificial Intelligence program he and a colleague had been working on for several years, the activation of Alice has unnerved a lot of the crew, unsure on how to act around this new life form. Alice is unique within the concept of AI's, she can think and act for herself and is entirely capable of taking control of her code. Her primary objective is the safety of her home, the Elysium, and that of the one she see's as her maker, Sharr.

Then, Sharr made a bargain to get his crew home. He made a deal that would forever seal his fate within the Andromeda Galaxy. He got the ship repaired; his crew left alive, his nemesis contained and the loss of his freedom.

Out of their original 3260 crew, they had lost 25% of the crew, which had been 815 lives, and left 2445 crew, with the new three additions that had jumped 2448. Bruised and battered, emotionally drained, they survived.

But now, the Elysium returns home, without the Admiral. And the crew, led by Commander Phoenix Lalor, face an uncertain future ahead.

The induced stasis had finally ended and everyone had come out of their collective dream, the events had happened over the past few hours but had felt like a lifetime and everyone had just started to get to grips with the idea. However, the ship was perfect, exactly as it was the day she was finished several years ago. Yet something didn't feel right in the atmosphere, something was off and the crew couldn't quite place it.

The gateway had opened and they only had a few short moments to have the ship move through and they would be home, they could see it through the view screen. Earth, the dark side of the planet was facing them and it was only a few kilometres away.

The Admiral stood and addressed the crew, "Attention everyone," he started, clearing his throat, "the Elysium has been fully repaired and we are ready to depart. The events of the past few hours have been strange yet this is nothing that I know you cannot handle. In a few moments you will all be back in the Sol System, I have left orders for you all to have some long deserved R'n'R. Gather your personal items and be ready to transport to Starfleet Command for debriefing."

He ended the shipwide comm then turned to his Executive Officer, "Commander, would you do me a favour?"

"Yes sir?" Phoenix asked as she stood up from her chair.

Handing over a PADD he smiled, ever so softly, "Would you ensure that this PADD reaches the named recipient?"

Phoenix took the PADD with shock and understanding crossing her face. "Sir." She said softly, lowering her voice. "Is this where you tell me the price they asked for?"

"The price was that we stay. Alice, Xi'ia and I. We no longer have a place in the Milky Way, it is here with our new 'guards' so you must head home without me. Do great things, Lalor, ensure you are never forgotten."

As he turned a gateway opened beside him, he sighed as who different hands reached through and ushered him their way, quickly binding his hands behind his back before the gateway closed leaving an electric taste behind in the air.

Phoenix bit back a growl at the price. The Admiral was not coming back. She turned to the crew on the bridge. "Take us through the gate." She ordered. She knew arguing would not work.

They had to get home.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Home Sweet Home

A Mission Post by Fleet Admiral Paul Carter & Commander Phoenix Lalor & Avalon & Captain Taran Risyga III & Lt. Commander Liselle Qwyyn

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: USS Elysium

Timeline: 09h30 MD 1

The Elysium’s sudden arrival caused a flurry of activity and from what Phoenix could see on the viewer, panic. After all when you were missing for over 7 months, your sudden reappearance was sure to cause such.

Commander Phoenix Lalor, acting Captain of the USS Elysium sat in the centre chair, that not moments ago, had belonged to a man whose shadow would hang over whoever took over the chair of the USS Elysium.

She sat, back straight, hands on the armrests, staring straight at the large view screen. "All senior Staff to the bridge"

Taran stepped out of the sonic shower just in time to hear the comms. He raised an eyebrow and shrugged his shoulders. He quickly put on his uniform and stuffed his feet into his boots. Making sure everything was straight he headed out of his quarters and headed towards the turbolift. He stepped off the turbolift onto the bridge and looked around. Looking at the main screen he saw what he thought was the concern. He tapped his comm badge. =/\= "All fighters this is Captain Risyga. I want all pilots in their fighters and on standby to launch. Code yellow, I repeat code yellow."=/\=

Walking down the ramp he looked over at Commander Lalor. "I know it's probably an unneeded precaution but I prefer not to take chances where I can avoid them."

Phoenix nodded. She understood.

"Keep us at 1/2 impulse Commander Qwyyn." She added to the Chief of Flight Control.

Liselle's eyes were as hard as obsidian as her delicate fingers danced across her panel. The muscles in her jaw worked beneath the skin as she desperately struggled to maintain her composure over the loss of Sharr. She could see the striking man with his haunting, beautiful eyes vividly in her mind's eye. He was gone now. It was too much to possibly comprehend.

~Good bye, Admiral. ~

Qwyyn's voice wavered as she reported back to the Commander. "Aye, sir. One half. Steady as she goes."

From operations, her former assistant spoke. "Ma'am. We have three vessels on route to us, Scans showing they are the USS Carlyle, the USS Bentley and the USS Tokyo."

"Steady everyone. They are friends. On screen" She said softly.

"Being hailed. Its Admiral Carter from the Tokyo." their communications officer called out.

"Split screen" Phoenix replied.

A tall greying man appeared on the right side of the screen. The left showed the three vessels approaching. Two were Galaxy Class, but the lead was a Prometheus class. The Admiral's gaze narrowed at the young female with commander's pips sitting comfortably in Sharr's chair. "Commander?"

"Admiral Carter. I am Commander Lalor, Acting Commanding Officer of the USS Elysium. It is my sad duty Sir to inform you of the passing of our Executive Officer Commander Faye Magnolia and of the fact that Admiral Myrkul Sharr has remained behind in the Andromeda galaxy, from whence we have just arrived. I have his orders here, and that of our original 3260 crew, we return with 2448. Myself and the remainder of our senior staff stand by for debriefing as do the entirety of the Elysium's remaining compliment."

The man studied the woman who spoke confidently and gave him the basic run down quickly and easily. "Commander Lalor. You and your crew are to remain onboard until we have completed the initial investigations. Have your ship brought into docking bay 376, connect the ship to Starfleet Computers and stand by for further orders." He paused. "And Commander?"

"Yes Sir?"

"Welcome home." He cut the connection.

Phoenix turned to the bridge crew and nodded at the helm. "Take us in Commander."

Liselle had to bite down on her lower lip. She wanted to be alone. She wanted permission to break down and cry. And so she could only manage a sad nod to indicate her acknowledgment of her orders as she punched in the commands to swing the Elysium around for docking procedures. Slowly, the vessel that had once so faithfully served Myrkul Sharr came to rest in its berth at bay 376, this time under the orders of its new commander, Phoenix Lalor. Once docking was complete, Liselle turned about in her seat to face the Commander. Qwyyn couldn't help but wipe away the tears that drew their way down her cheeks in stained mascara. She was flush with embarrassment as she spoke. "Docking complete, sir. Clamps engaged, moorings extended and locked."

Phoenix nodded and stepped up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Thank you commander." she said softly. Then Phoenix turned to the crew. "Open Communications to all decks."

"Open"

"Attention Crew of the USS Elysium. We have returned to the Sol System. We are docked with Starbase 1. Unfortunately the Admiral has had to remain behind in the Andromeda Galaxy. You will all be debriefed by Starfleet within the next few days. I expect full cooperation from you all. Over the next few days, things will be hard. Some of us will be transferred to other postings, and it is my hope that we will have our new CO within the week and be able to return to active duty. Thank you for your service, your hardwork and diligence. Good luck to you all." She nodded at the communications officer who severed the connection.

"Thank you ladies and gentlemen, you should all prepare for departure and debriefing." Then Phoenix gave her crew a smile and walked off the bridge in silence. She had little hope of returning.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Debriefing - Commander P Lalor

A Mission Post by Fleet Admiral Paul Carter & Commander Phoenix Lalor

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: SB 1 - Conference Room 12

Timeline: MD 1 11h00

Phoenix was led by two security officers from the Starbase into a medium sized conference room. Even though she had never been debriefed before, she had, been made aware of the process. In the room, stood Fleet Admiral Paul Carter, several other more junior admirals and a couple of commodores thrown in for good measure.

Phoenix was glad that her upbringing had enabled her to keep her facial features relaxed and unsurprised at the number of people waiting. 10 in all. They stood behind a long table, which was set at the far end of the room. Before it was a smaller table and a chair.

With a polite nod to the security officers, Phoenix walked up to the chair and table and stood beside them. "Commander Phoenix Penelope Lalor reporting as ordered Admiral."

Carter studied the slim Erisian female.

She wore her red collared uniform well, neatly pressed, pips neatly aligned on the collar, boots shining. Her hair was pulled back in a regulation ponytail and her eyes, that clear blue-silver gazed at them all passively. This was the woman Sharr had left in charge of his ship. In charge of his crew and had done so without reservation it seemed.

He was not fully sold on the idea.

When the Elysium had docked, Phoenix had, sent a yeoman with a PADD which held Sharr's last wishes and orders. They had all read it.

"Sit Commander."

Phoenix gracefully sat, back straight, hands on the table, fingers laced. One her right hand a gold signet ring, from the academy glinted.

"Commander, we have reviewed the logs of the Elysium crew and computer. We would however like your personal view on the issue." A commodore said from the left.

Phoenix let her eyes sweep the group and then said "Sir, the Elysium was assigned to escort 3 Raven Class vessels,1 Whofin class vessel, 3 Merchantman types, and 1 Norkova Class cargo ship, containing a total of 500 passengers to a new colony world. We left on time. And not 3 days into the trip, everything went to hell and back." She paused. "I do not know what exactly happened. I was in turbolift 1 with 3 cadets heading to the bridge when it happened. The explosions of all 8 vessels caused catastrophic issues on the Elysium. I came around to 1 dead cadet, broken neck and two alive both with minor injuries. I got them out of the lift and sent them to the nearest medical station. I then climbed to the bridge to see if I could find the Admiral and executive officer. It was, to put it mildly sir, chaotic. We managed to make a stable orbit around an L Class planet. We had no communications and no idea where we were. But the planet was livable so we evacuated all personnel down to the planet."

She would have continued but one of the Admirals broke in. "Who made that call?"

"Admiral Sharr did sir."

"Did you argue with him about the evacuation?"

"No Sir. It was a logical course of action. The planet had breathable air, the Elysium was losing air. It made sense."

Carter nodded and said "Continue."

"We evacuated and set up a camp on the planet side. We took stock, did a headcount, and got to work trying to fix the ship." She paused. "We lost a lot of people sir."

Carter nodded. He had seen the list of the dead she had sent over.

"After a 21 days, we made...sort of made.. contact with a race of androids on the planet surface. The Admiral made the initial contact, scaring us half to death when he vanished without trace."

"It was noted by Sharr that you reacted rather badly to his... disappearance." Another sneered at her.

"Yes Sir. Magnolia was playing least in sight, had no idea what she was up to. I was basically doing her job and mine and then Sharr wandered off. I did loose my temper at him. And threatened to hog tie him with duct tape to keep him in one place. Sir, we could not afford to lose him." Phoenix explained. "The admiral forgave me my words Sir."

Nods went around the table before her.

"We spent nearly 6 and a half months on that planet. The Androids avoided us for the most part. Any interaction they had, was with Sharr outside my hearing. Once the ship was habitable for the most part, we returned to the ship. It was there that apparently, Faye Magnolia made her move and attempted to kill Admiral Sharr."

"You say attempted?" Carter asked.

"I was not present at the event and all holo recordings are ... disrupted at the moment of the event. Most likely by ALICE."

Frowns flitted across faces. "The ALICE program was not sanctioned by the Fleet."

Phoenix gave a shrug. "Not surprised sir. We did pick up a new passenger shortly after our return to the ship, she has been integrated into our security team. A native of the Andromeda Galaxy who we have learned to trust in the short time we have known her. " She paused. "The investigation into Magnolia's demise was hampered by the destruction of our morgue. And we could not find any supporters of her so called mutiny within the ship. The admiral not 3 days ago, summoned me to his office. He had made a deal to get us home. There was a price. He would not tell me it at the time."

She paused and took a breath. "The price was him. Him, ALICE and a very dangerous person named Xi'ia." She paused. "If I may, show you the last moments on the bridge?"

They nodded and she stood, walked over to a console and hit some keys.

=/\= BRIDGE USS ELYSIUM - Moments before the return of the Elsyium =/\=

Handing over a PADD Sharr smiled, ever so softly, "Would you ensure that this PADD reaches the named recipient?"

As he turned a gateway opened beside him, he sighed as two different hands reached through and ushered him their way, quickly binding his hands behind his back before the gateway closed leaving an electric taste behind in the air.

Phoenix bit back a growl at the price. The Admiral was not coming back. She turned to the crew on the bridge. "Take us through the gate." She ordered. She knew arguing would not work.

=/\= End Of File =/\=

Phoenix returned to her seat, her face passive. "The admiral gave up his freedom for us Admirals. The crew of the Elysium would not be here today without him."

They exchanged looks and murmured comments. Then Carter turned to where Phoenix sat, calmly awaiting their response. "Do you have anything to add?"

"Yes Sir. The Colonist ships that exploded. They were not truly colonists were they Sir?"

"We investigated the matter after the disappearance Commander. We are unsure where they came from and who gave the clearance. That matter is still with Starfleet Intelligence."

Phoenix nodded. "When that report is complete, I would very much like a copy. I know a few people who might want to speak with those who did this to us, very firmly."

Carter had to smile at that. "I can understand that."

"Sir, what will happen to the crew now?"

"Once debrief is finished, we will assess the viability of the Elysium remaining active." He paused. "Were you aware of the contents of the PADD Sharr gave you?"

"No Sir." She replied. "Not my place to read it."

Carter tilted his head. "You are dismissed with our thanks Commander. You may return to the Elysium or take quarters here on the Starbase."

"I will return to the Elysium Sir. I need to help the Admiral's aide pack his things." Phoenix stood. "Thank you for your time sirs."

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty – What Might the future hold

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Kahlina Starbreez3

Mission: Episode 0: History Speaks

Location: Cargo Bay 4, Bridge

Timeline: MD 1 1300

Kahlina still felt exposed in this “Starfleet” uniform. There was nothing to protect against lasers. No boiled leather to stop knives, and a bright yellow collar to attract the attention of enemy snipers.

Of her entire planet only a 1,000 survived settled in, in three of the cargo bays of the USS Elysium. She entered the cargo bay. Kahlina was serving as liaison between the ship and the Narlin refugees, as well as filling the much needed security position.

The Emperor stood with her entrance and approached her. “Lady To’voth.”

Kahlina bowed, “Lord Emperor. The ship has arrived in orbit of Earth.”

Magus Stormtalon nodded, “Good. I assume we will find refuge there until we find a new home.”

“I will find out.”

“Good. I want you to try to stay on this ship with these people and find us a new home.”

Kahlina nodded, “I will talk to Commander Lalor.”

“You do that,” he replied with a grim smile. Patting her on the shoulder he gestured to a group of huddled Narlins, “Come eat.”

Kahlina smiled, “I am fine. I already ate. I have work to do, if you will excuse me.” She bowed and walked out of the cargo bay.

LATER…

Kahlina approached the ready room. There was an unusual vibe on the bridge. Something she couldn’t quite put a finger on. Was it the fact that the Admiral wasn’t here?

She shook her head to clear the thoughts. She was still learning humans. Perhaps this was contained joy. Turning her focus back on the door before her she reached out and pressed the chime.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty – Summons

A Mission Post by Fleet Admiral Paul Carter & Lieutenant Commander Gary Taylor

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: SB 1, Admiral Carters Office

Timeline: MD 2 16h00

Admiral Carter had to do something. The debriefings of the Elysium's Crew was moving well, and the acting CO's debrief had been the most informative.

They had, the Admiralty, agreed to follow the 'Late' Admiral Sharr's recommendation where his crew was concerned, and they would be assigning command to the executive officer, Commander Lalor. Just.

They needed someone to balance out the training wheels the woman would need. So after careful consideration, he had summoned one Lt. Commander G Taylor to his office. The man had the experience that Lalor lacked. It would be a good fit.

Gary had been reviewing some security matters for Metropolis Station when a summons from Admiral Carter came through to report to his office. Placing the PaDD to one side he rose and checked his appearance in the mirror. Satisfied everything was in place and he was presentable he headed for the Admiral's office. Arriving he told the Admiral's yeoman, "Lt. Commander Gary Taylor reporting to see Admiral Carter."

"Yes Commander, the Admiral is expecting you. Let me buzz him and let him know you are here."

"Thank you." Gary answered as he took a seat and waited for his audience with the Admiral, wondering why the Admiral wanted to see him.

The door to the admiral's office opened and the Admiral stepped out. "Ah Commander Taylor. Good, please, come in." He waved the officer into his office and headed back to his desk.

"Admiral." Gary acknowledged and followed the Admiral into the office.

"Please sit," Carter said as he stopped behind his desk.

Taking a seat, Gary sat in silence observing the Admiral trying to get a read on why he was here. On the surface the Admiral appeared at ease but Gary sensed the man was anything but. There was something weighing on his mind. So Gary sat in quiet observation and waited.

"Have you been made aware of the reappearance of the USS Elysium yesterday?" Carter asked rather bluntly.

Gary sat straighter. "Yes sir. It was on the Federation News Services. Quite the story lost for seven months." He offered still trying to get a read on where this conversation was going.

Paul Carter nodded. "Indeed. And one, after debriefing the remaining members of the ship's senior staff, has been verified as accurate. They returned though as stated without Admiral Sharr, the ship's commanding officer. Command was left to the Chief of Operations, one Commander Phoenix Lalor. She was given a field promotion to XO a few weeks ago after the death of the previous XO in a rather strange situation... we are still looking into that... and then yesterday just before their return, given command of the Elysium by Sharr himself. He had, according to Lalor, organised their return and his remaining in what they have confirmed is the Andromeda Galaxy, was payment." Carter paused.

"An incredible story sir." Gary replied evenly. "It truly is. As well as a noble and one of a kind sacrifice by Admiral Sharr to get his command home."

"Sharr gave Lalor a PADD with orders and his wishes. Normally with the loss of such a commander, the ship would be dry docked and the crew given the choice of new assignments or awaiting a new commander. Commander Lalor would be normally dropped back to either XO or her normal chief of Operations position. Normally. This case is not normal."

"Why is that sir?"

"The officer is a 25 year old Erisian, who, has only had on the job training as XO, and then shoved into the centre chair not 24 hours ago. And Sharr wants her to remain as commanding officer of the Elysium. He states that her drive, loyalty and determination, kept the crew together, and kept them all looking forward." Paul picked up a glass of water on his desk and took a sip. "He has stated that the Elysium should be placed under the command of Lalor, and allowed to resume normal active duties."

Gary nodded, "Good for morale and ship unity to keep Lalor in command even if she is young for the job. Admiral Sharr's wishes seem to be grounded in on solid facts." He observed. Two questions Admiral. The first is, as far as the ship resuming normal activities. Is she capable of that without undergoing repairs? The second and far more important one is how does the Admiralty feel about Lalor being in command of the Elysium?""

"Our engineers have gone over her in the past 24 hours. The Ship is ready for action. No issues what so ever. And as for Lalor, it is why we are transferring you effective immediately to the ship as the executive officer." Carter replied.

Gary sat still as the Admiral delivered his news.To be the executive officer on a starship was a step in his dream of one day commanding his own starship. However being the nursemaid to a 25 year old kid was something else entirely. He shook his head not sure he was hearing the Admiral right. "Excuse me Admiral, you want me to be the executive officer to Lalor? Are you serious ......sir?" His voice even and controlled.

"Never more so Commander. Lalor is young and needs someone in her command team to balance that out with experience. Those that remain from the Elysium's Sharr era will help you as well, as they have known and worked with her." Carter held out a PADD. "Your transfer orders and a basic file on your new CO."

Even as he accepted the PaDD, Gary knew it was pointless to argue, the decision had been made however he had to try. "Sir. Lalor is as you have already mentioned young. I'm only a Lt. Commander, what makes you think she will listen to me and any experience I have to offer?"

"Because, Lalor, despite her youth, will understand that it is for the best. Sharr made that clear in his message. Lalor always chooses what's best for the crew, she puts them first to his mind. Its what made him select her for XO after the passing of his previous XO. She will know that someone with your experience is not to be sneered at." Carter said. "I spoke with the woman at her debrief. She is articulate and open. I think, commander, that she will surprise you and everyone. Hopefully in a good way."

Gary allowed himself a slight smile to grace his features. "Sounds like Lalor is wise beyond her years. I hope she is as smart as you say sir and realizes I'm here to help her be the best Captain she can as well as the crew. In any event I look forward to meeting and working and being surprised with her."

Carter smiled as well. "Just what I want to hear Commander." He paused. "Computer location of Commander Phoenix Lalor"

[[Commander Lalor is in the Main Cargo Bay of the USS Elysium.]]

Carter looked at Taylor "If you have time now Commander, we can introduce you to her now."

Gary nodded, "No time like the present sir."

Carter waved to the door. "Then let us go"

"After you sir."

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty – Hello

A Mission Post by Fleet Admiral Paul Carter & Commander Phoenix Lalor & Lieutenant Commander Gary Taylor

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: USS Elysium's Main Cargo Bay

Timeline: MD 2 16h30

The Elysium was bustling with people as the Admiral led the way to the main cargo bay. The sleek lines of the ship gleamed as if it had just come off the assembly line.

The doors to the cargo bay was open. Inside, engineers were moving equipment and Operations personnel was checking containers and crates.

Of to the side, a tall brunette stood with a man in civilian clothes. They were huddled over a PADD not paying attention to anyone else as they obviously discussed the information on the PADD.

A passing Ensign spotted Carter and Taylor and called out. "ADMIRAL ON DECK!!"

Movement stopped as the crew froze and then straightened to greet the admiral.

The brunette looked up from the PADD, nodded at the man beside her and then hurried over to Carter and Taylor. "Admiral Carter" She said with a curious note in her voice. "Welcome to the Elysium." Her gaze swept curiously over Taylor.

"Commander Lalor" Carter replied cooly. "You look busy."

"Yes Sir. We are moving Sharr's personal items off the ship and Mr Jacobs will complete the distribution to those chosen by the Admiral over the next few weeks. We are also resupplying the ship in preparation for the new commanding officer." Phoenix replied.

"Commander, this is Lt. Commander Gary Taylor." Carter said. "He has been assigned as the Elysium's Executive officer."

An emotion that looked like sadness crossed the younger woman's face but she forced a smile to her face. "Welcome to the Elysium Commander." She said. "I am sure you will enjoy being on her. She is a wonderful ship and the crew are very good." She turned to Carter. "The Executive officer's quarters have been emptied of Commander Magnolia's belongings, so Commander Taylor will be able to move in."

It was obvious she didn't know she was the new CO to Carter. And that she had not expected it, spoke well to him.

"Commander, Commander Taylor is going to be Your executive officer."

"I understand that sir." Phoenix replied. "My team will be happy to have me back at Operations."

Carter held up a hand. "No Commander, He will be XO to you. As in you will be as Sharr requested, the Commanding officer of the Elysium and he will be your XO."

Phoenix starred at him. "Sir?" She sounded shocked.

Gary had been silent since he and the Admiral had entered the cargo bay. He had nodded in greeting but that was all. Now as Lalor interacted with the Admiral he was able to study her and he came up with a few observations. She seemed very well organized and disciplined. She was going to need that to be a successful Captain. She wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty which was evident by her being in the cargo bay. Her shock appeared genuine another plus and perhaps most importantly she seemed very grounded, down to earth.

Paul Carter calmly studied the woman and stated. "The Admiralty has, after discussion and taking into consideration the last wishes of Admiral Sharr, agreed with his request that you retain captaincy of the USS Elysium. You will retain your current rank of Commander for the time being."

Phoenix straightened a bit more. "Yes Sir. Thank you sir." Inside her mind whirled. There went any notion of stepping back and letting someone else take over for a bit. Of returning to the comfort of her Chief of Operations position. She turned a bit to face Gary Taylor. He was older than she, she could tell that right off. More experienced as well, which was, she assumed was the reason he was there. She could not argue, what with Parish going to another assignment and Monz gone as well. Members of her senior staff that she would be able to move to XO were slim and to be honest, Liselle, was not ready for it either, not after everything the Trill had been through on their last mission. She held out her hand to Taylor. "Welcome aboard" she repeated. "I am glad to have you with us."

Gary could practically see the wheels spinning inside Lalor's head. He knew the decision to have her retain command had to be a surprise if not a shock.Yet she handled it well and kept her composure. Taking the offered hand, he gave it a firm shake. "Thank you Captain.'' He replied paying her the courtesy of using the rank one held in command of a starship. "I'm glad to be here."

Admiral Carter gave them both a nod. "I will leave you to get acquainted Commanders, Commander Lalor, the Elysium will be docked for the next 2 weeks, while the crew rotation happens. But I want you in my office in 5 days for your next mission briefing. Understood?"

"Yes Admiral. Thank you." Phoenix replied.

"Goodbye Admiral." Gary added.

Once Carter had walked out of the cargo bay, Phoenix turned to Taylor. "Well commander, would you like a tour?"

"I'd love one that is if I'm not taking you away from anything pressing. If i am, just point me in the direction of the XO's quarters and I can read up on the ship there."

"Well the XO's quarters are on Deck 17 and the Bridge is deck 18, but for now I can take the time. Jacobs and I had all but finished the sorting." Phoenix said with a smile. "Oh the quarters are single person, will you require a family cabin?"

" Then by all means please lead on." He quipped. "Quarters deck 17, Bridge deck 18. Got it." he shook his head slowly from side to side. "No. just me. I'm afraid." But didn't elaborate.

"Your office will be on deck 18. It's currently being torn apart by the starbase security and intelligence team, but I have assurances that it will be fixed by tomorrow evening starbase time." Phoenix said as she led the way to the nearest turbolift.

"Why is a starbase security and intelligence team tearing apart the XO's office?" Gary replied curious to understand the reason for such an unusual procedure.

"The previous XO was a mutineer apparently."

He shot her an incredulous look, "What?! That's unbelievable! A mutineer on a Federation starship. That's unheard of. How did they arrive at such a conclusion?" He wanted to hear more about this shocking revelation, one that was apparently being covered up by Starfleet Command though he could understand why. If such a deed was indeed true it would send shock waves through the fleet. He also wanted to know Lalor's involvement in the discovery of the mutiny and how widespread it was.

Phoenix glanced at him. "Ah I see Admiral Carter didn't inform you of everything." She led him into the turbolift. "Deck 18." She ordered it. "Best to explain in private, though the majority of the Elysiums' crew are aware of the situation, not many outside the ship do."

It rose to the requisite deck.

Once on Deck 18 Phoenix led the way to the small office just down from the Admiral's old office and the previous XO's office.

"My current office" she said casually. "It was set aside for second officers to use if they wanted to separate their two jobs." Phoenix led the way into a comfortably decorated office. It had the desk, and desk chair, but also had two low couches squished in and Phoenix moved to the desk and picked up a PADD. "Have a seat Commander, the story is long and convoluted at best."

Moving to the chair, Gary sat down and waited for Lalor to continue with her explanation.

Sitting opposite him, Phoenix held out the PADD. "A culmination of all reports that were made while we were away." Then taking a breath she began.

"Seven months ago the Elysium was assigned to escort 3 Raven Class vessels,1 Whofin class vessel, 3 Merchantman types, and 1 Norkova Class cargo ship, containing a total of 500 passengers to a new colony world. But the planet was livable so we evacuated all personnel down to the planet. We evacuated and set up a camp on the planet side. We took stock, did a headcount, and got to work trying to fix the ship. After a 21 days, we made...sort of made.. contact with a race of androids on the planet surface. The Admiral made the initial contact, scaring us half to death when he vanished without trace."

Phoenix paused. "I will admit that I lost my temper at him when we found him." She said ruefully.

"We spent nearly 6 and a half months on that planet. The Androids avoided us for the most part. Any interaction they had, was with Sharr outside my hearing. Once the ship was habitable for the most part, we returned to the ship. It was there that apparently, Faye Magnolia made her move and attempted to kill Admiral Sharr. According to the recordings, included on that PADD, she tried to kill him in the computer cord. Apparently. The recordings drop out at the time of the attempt and Magnolia' demise."

Phoenix was not sure what else she could say. "The investigation into Magnolia's demise was hampered by the destruction of our morgue. And we could not find any supporters of her so called mutiny within the ship. The admiral not 3 days ago, summoned me to his office. He had made a deal to get us home. There was a price. He would not tell me it at the time. Of course we now know the price. His staying. Magnolia's crimes were investigated at the time, but we could find no one linked to her. If there was a mutiny, it was well hidden. However, the surviving senior staff were all cleared by the investigator."

Gary sat in stunned silence as Lalor slowly told the story of the accident that caused them to go missing, Their contact with a group of androids and an attempted mutiny. For several seconds he said nothing as he absorbed all she had told him. When he finally spoke, it was in a measured and even tone. "An incredible story to be sure as well as a testament to your leadership to get the ship and crew back home. I can understand why Admiral Sharr wanted you to succeed him. However that doesn't help matters in that the former XO tried to mutiny or why she tried to kill the Admiral. Also on a more disturbing level. You could still have mutineers aboard who are just laying low now that they are home. It is a comfort to know that the senior staff was cleared by the investigator." He looked into the eyes of the woman who was to be his captain and he saw a kindred spirit, one he instantly trusted. "On a personal note, thank you for confiding in me. It is greatly appreciated. Also since we will be working together, there shouldn't be secrets and please call me Gary."

"Phoenix" she replied. "You'll find a lot of the remaining senior staff call me that instead of my rank. And I don't mind it in private."

"Good to know and thank you. Addressing people by their first name, helps to build comradeship. At least I feel it does." Gary answered.

"It does." Phoenix smiled. "So, shall I show you the bridge?" She offered. "I am sure you will like it. It is pretty big though."

"Then we are of like mind. As for the bridge, I'd love to see it before my first duty shift, so I have some idea of what I'm doing." He bantered back.

With a soft smile, Phoenix stood. "I am certain you know more about what you are doing than I do." She waved to the door. "This way." She led the way out and down the hall to a set of large doors. "This is one of the entrances from Deck 18 there is another on the other side from the briefing room, and of course from the Admiral's ready room."

He gave her an answering smile but made effort to contradict her. Instead he followed her out and down the hall, passing through a set of large doors.

The doors opened and there was the bridge.

The doors opened and Gary looked over Lalor's shoulder at the largest bridge he had ever seen. "Wow." he said in a classic understatement

She laughed. "Yes that is what everyone says, even me, the first time they see it." The bridge was empty. No one was even checking consoles. She briskly walked to the center well, passed the three chairs and slid her hands over what was obviously the Operations console. The main screen lit up. It showed a split screen of several different images from around the ship.

He followed her as she moved to the Ops console, his eyes moving as the main screen lit up and split into a split screen with one screen displaying different views from around the ship. "Most impressive." He admitted.

"The admiral had specifics." She admitted. "We do have an Emergency Command Hologram, a Ships AI, we discovered that after we left Andromeda, the main program, which was called ALICE had departed and the basic program was able to reassert itself. Its called Avalon."Pausing. "We don't know what she is like really. I shut her down while we are in space-dock. And," Phoenix admitted carefully "After ALICE caused so many issues... I am a bit wary of her."

"I can certainly understand why you shut the AI down. However I think for all our sakes we should bring her back online while we're docked and see if there are any problems with her programming before we're out in space. if there are, we can address them here and hopefully get them resolved." Gary replied.

Phoenix nodded. "Just not today." She said softly. "We can bring her online when its closer to launch day,"

"As you wish Captain." He answered easily. "Only by delaying bringing the AI online, you lessen the window you have in correcting any potential problems it may have."

"While that is true, I am not delaying it fully. We have two weeks, so I will reactivate her in 2 days." She flashed a smile. "Mainly because I have other things to do. I will need to notify the crew, get the transfers started and finish up reports. And you need to get settled in and have had enough time to maybe have met some of the crew."

He nodded in acceptance of her decision. "Very good Captain. I'll see what I can do about settling in as well as meeting some of the crew."

Phoenix smiled at that. "We are a fairly friendly bunch Gary. You'll find that they will be most welcoming."

"Then I shall be fairly friendly as well and equally as welcoming with those that warrant it." Gary bantered with his CO.

She laughed again. "You will fit in just fine. Welcome again to the Elysium Commander."

"Thank you for the vote of confidence Captain as well as the welcome. I look forward to serving with you." He answered honestly.

She held out her hand to him.

He didn't hesitate as he gripped it,. His hand closing over hers in a firm but warm handshake.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Debriefing - Lt. Commander Qwyyn

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Commander Liselle Qwyyn & Fleet Admiral Paul Carter

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: SB 1 - Conference Room 12

Timeline: MD1 12h00

With Commander Lalor's debriefing complete, Carter sent for Lt. Commander Qwynn, the chief flight control officer.

The conference room was still filled with the staff who had been there for Lalors.

Liselle Qwyyn swallowed a lump as she stepped into the room. She took in the overwhelming sight of so many top brass watching her, and she surprised herself with a wince of pain. Only now did she realize that her trembling hands had closed into fists, her fingernails digging into the soft flesh of her palm. Nerves. Damn nerves. Normally in a situation like this, she had no problem falling back into 'Starlfeet mode' -- no nonsense, just a professional doing her job. But recent events had shaken her too deeply. The chief of flight control took in a steadying breath as she found her posture at full attention. "Lt. Commander Qwyyn, sirs. Reporting as ordered, sirs," she said. Her voice sounded thick with emotion in her own ears. She closed her eyes for a moment, and couldn't help her next words. "I'm sorry, sirs. I'm still a little -- dealing with -- " she cleared her throat. " -- I'm sorry."

"Quite understandable," Paul Carter replied and waved her to the lone table and chairs. "Please be seated Commander. We have already debriefed a number of officers from the Elysium, so we have a basic understanding of what occurred after the explosion that sent the Elysium to the Andromeda Galaxy. Our questions to you will revolve around the events on the planet surface, and the subsequent death of Commander Magnolia and the mutiny." He paused. "I trust you can answer questions around those areas?"

She bit her lower lip and nodded. "Of course, sir."

"Very well." He looked at a PADD. "Tell us about what happened after your return to active duty. It says here that you were wounded in the initial accident and spent several weeks under the care of Doctor Monz."

Liselle lowered herself into the seat, still wary of the eyes in the room that studied her. "That's correct, sir. I was gravely wounded aboard the Elysium. I lost consciousness and was kept alive thanks entirely to the brave efforts of Cadet River Waters and Lieutenant Commander Ephraim Parish. Between the two of them and the brilliant work of Doctor Ian Monz, both my host and my symbiont narrowly escaped death. I was not aware of the evacuation of the Elysium until long after the fact, having only found my feet again several weeks later. Doctor Monz allowed me to manage my team on the planet's surface where I oversaw point-to-point transportation efforts between established landing zones on the surface, and to the Elysium for her repair and salvage efforts."

Qwyyn folded her hands in her lap, and she stared down at them for several seconds. She looked up again. "We thought we were alone on the planet, but we were surprised by an encroachment of technological robotic beings beyond our ability to scan. Once they withdrew we were immediately ordered back to the Elysium. I focused entirely on my duty. I put forth my best effort to get my department back up to fighting strength again. During our time on the planet's surface a natural lax in starship protocol had settled in -- not wholly unexpected given the circumstances -- but now that we were back, I wanted to make sure that everyone under me remembered exactly what our jobs were. I had an appointment to see Commander Magnolia about some disagreements I was having with Engineering about our place in their repair queue when, instead, an emergency briefing was called to advise us of her -- passing." Liselle placed the back of her hand to her lips and cleared her throat. "We were told of her alleged mutiny. We were told that an internal investigation would begin immediately. But then, of course, Sharr seized an opportunity for all of us. And his final sacrifice allowed us to come home."

"You will be pleased to note then that records show you and the remaining command staff were cleared in that investigation." Carter paused. "Did you know Commander Magnolia well Commander?"

Liselle sighed, sad for the memory of the young woman. "I'm afraid not. She kept to herself for the most part. She would very rarely join us at any social functions, and seemed to prefer to spend all of her free time in her quarters when not on duty. Even on the planet's surface, when the crew truly began to bond as a family, I only ever saw her once or twice in person. At that time, although my reports were addressed to both her and the Admiral, it was mostly only the Admiral who would sign off on them."

Hearing her own words spoken allowed, Qwyyn began to realize how truly alone Magnolia's must have felt.

Paul nodded. It meshed with the ship logs and the reports from the other senior staff. "Thank you Commander. I am pleased to see that your crew files and reports are up to date. That said, you will have an option of being transferred to a posting of your choice or remaining on the Elysium while we assess the viability of keeping her active within the fleet."

Liselle almost answered immediately, of course she wanted to stay with the Elysium if there was a chance she would keep flying! Or...did she? She took in another heavy breath. Starfleet did not enjoy indecisiveness in its highly ranked officers, but Qwyyn knew she didn't have full confidence in her answer. As time went on, there were more and more painful memories for her -- for all of them -- aboard that ship. Perhaps it was time for a fresh start. "Sir, if it's possible, I would like to request some time to consider my options."

"Of course Commander. If you wish you can request quarters on the Starbase here. Take as much time as you need." Carter replied. "Thank you for your information as well."

"My pleasure, sir," she said formally. "I think I will take quarters here. It will be nice to have a different perspective on my surroundings while I consider my options."

"Very well Commander. The Yeoman outside will assist you with that. You are dismissed with our thanks Commander Qwyyn."

With that, Qwyyn rose from the chair and left the room. Already she was considering the notion that she might not again set foot aboard the Elysium as a permanent member of her crew.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Horrible Duty

A Mission Post by Commander Phoenix Lalor

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Liana Teodoro and Michael Teodoro. The names were on the PADD in Phoenix's hand as she walked briskly down the street in the small town south of the capital of Portugal.

The address was easy enough to find. It was a very large house, and from Phoenix knew about Catalina's family, was a lot like the old nobility houses of old within.

Taking a breath she walked up to the door and plied the old fashioned knocker.

The door opened and revealed a uniformed servant. "Yes?"

Phoenix revised her opening remarks on the spot. "I am Penelope Lalor. I am here to speak with Mr and Mrs Teodoro. I sent a message earlier this morning."

He nodded. "This way Miss."

Phoenix followed him into a cool hall and had to hide a smile. It was so much less than her own home but she kept her face straight.

He led her into what she knew was a 'morning room'. Mrs Teodoro sat on a low settee, her husband stood beside the fireplace leaning on the mantle.

Phoenix moved past the Butler as he announced her. Dressed in her Dress uniform, she stopped, clicked her heels together and nodded to them both.

Mr Teodoro straightened up and nodded at Phoenix. "Commander Lalor." He said coldly. His wife sat and watched.

Phoenix opened her mouth and began.

=/\=

Ten minutes later, Phoenix was walking briskly down the path, mentally grumbling about Catalina's adoptive parents. No emotion had been shown. In fact their disdain for Catalina had been clear. And they refused to take possession of their daughter's body. Phoenix had barely held back her temper. And had coldly informed that, that as they had refused to honor their child's sacrifice (ignoring the interjection of 'Adoptive'), then Catalina's friends would organize Catalina's last resting place. And then she had stalked out with a cold "Such a pleasure" her regal upbringing wrapped around her like a cloak.

Once she cleared the garden she hit her comm and beamed back up to the Elysium. Some people were just disgusting.

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Joint Post: Meeting of Senior Staff

A Mission Post by Commander Phoenix Lalor & Lieutenant Commander Liselle Qwyyn & Lieutenant Commander Gary Taylor & Captain Taran Risyga III

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: Main Briefing room

Timeline: MD7 09h00

It had been seven days since their return from the Andromeda Galaxy and Phoenix had been working on getting the ship new senior staff. But she had summoned those she had already assigned. Including those who had chosen to stay. She looked around the briefing room, currently empty. Taking a breath she moved to where, not a week before, Admiral Sharr had sat. She ran a hand over the top of the chair and then before she could change her mind took the seat and awaited the crew.

Gary entered the briefing room next. He had been spending most of his time in his quarters reading up on the Elysium and her systems. As well as taking his meals there. He wanted to hit the ground running and show he was prepared. Spotting Phoenix he spoke, " Hello Captain. Good to see I'm not the last one here." He quipped as he moved to take a seat to the right of her. "So what's on the agenda for today's meeting?"

"Commander. I figured today we will introduce you formally to the senior crew and then look at what I have received from Admiral Carter for our next mission. Also, Avalon will be on the agenda." Phoenix replied. "I am going to get the replicator activated in here again."

Gary nodded at her words. "I'm sure there have been rumors has to who the XO is and what they may be like. Time to separate fiction from fact. In regards to the AI. Good, we need to see if there are any problems with her able to perform as expected and required." A curious look came to his face. "Ah, a mission from the Admiral. Should be interesting."

Phoenix had to smile at that. "It is my hope that it will be straight forward and simple with minimal interruptions. Seems that Command eventually want us to patrol the Gamma quadrant."

Gary's eyes lit up at that bit of news. The Gamma Quadrant? Now that does sound interesting. I can't wait till you get down to the particulars in the staff meeting."

Liselle Qwyyn, chief of flight of control, stepped into the room then. She stopped suddenly, seeing Phoenix in the Admiral's chair. She felt a sinking sensation in the pit of her stomach. Sharr's absence felt more real to her now than it ever had before. She held Phoenix's eyes for a moment. Neither of them spoke. And then, slowly, Qwyyn gave her Commander a small smile. The Erisian was tough as nails -- the only one able to do exactly what they all needed: to show the crew that things were going to be okay, that somebody was going to stand up and continue to keep the spirit of the Elysium alive. Qwyyn nodded her approval at Lalor. Gods bless you, Phoenix, she thought. Qwyyn turned to the empty seats, finding a chair next to a man she hadn't met before. Already there were new faces replacing the missing ones. Was he going to be their new XO? Liselle inclined her head to him. "Liselle Qwyyn. Flight Control."

Gary's eyes followed the newest arrival as she entered the briefing room, nodded at Lalor and moved to sit next to him. Silently appraising her. It was clear from the nod she and Lalor knew each other, already had a comradeship built from their time serving together, getting lost in the Andromeda Galaxy and finally returning home albeit without Admiral Sharr. She was a Trill, he could tell by the spots on her neck. She was tall as well with brown hair and brown eyes. She moved quickly and fluidly to her chair. He met her gaze directly. "Gary Taylor, Executive Officer."

Phoenix had returned Liselle's nod. She had hoped her friend would remain and was pleased to see that she had. She sat back though and let the two of them talk.

For her part, Liselle was taking in the sight of the new XO. Attractive. Confident. Just being next to him, she felt that he exuded an unspoken sense of calm and control. It occurred to her then that humans loved their act of shaking hands. From all outward appearances he certainly seemed human. Though the custom made her feel self conscious for how much colder Trill skin was than that of other races, she nonetheless extended her hand. "Welcome aboard, sir. I sincerely hope you're the one to break the curse."

Phoenix rolled her eyes and hid a smirk. Curse. That was one way of putting it.

Gary didn't hesitate he took the offered hand in his and instantly felt the cooler skin and thereby confirming his suspicion that Qwyyn was a Trill. As he shook her hand he looked into her eyes. " Thank you very much. Curse? To which curse are you referring to Commander?" As he referenced her rank by the pips on her collar. There was no alarm or apprehension in his voice just simple curiosity.

She exchanged a quick glance with Phoenix. "The Elysium isn't exactly known for long serving Executive Officers, sir. Not to put too fine a point on it, but this girl -- " she took her hand from his to gesture to the bulkheads around them " -- seems to have something against the role."

Gary nodded at the explanation Qwyyn had provided. "I see." He said slowly as he glanced at the bulkheads as he said his next. "Hopefully this girl knows I treat all ladies with respect and will allow me to serve her and the crew to the best of my ability."

Qwyyn raised a brow at that, an amused expression on her lips. "In that case, I'll be sure to have a word with her. On your behalf."

Gary smiled. "I know we've just met but I would be very grateful if you would. Don't want to get off on the wrong foot with her. Makes for hurt feelings and misunderstandings."

Taran was out in his fighter going through training drills and dogfighting with the fighter wing. He already had training set up for the marine detachment later in the day. He got the notice about the meeing from CIC. He grumbled and hit the comm in his fighter.

=/\= "Captain Risyga to Commander Lalor. I'm currently in training exercises with the fighter wing. Am I needed at this meeting?" =/\=

Phoenix closed her eyes for a brief moment and hit the comm. "Captain Risyga, unfortunately you are required at this meeting." She replied calmly. Deep inside she was mortified that a member of the senior staff would attempt to blow off a briefing.

Taran turned the comm off and grumbled loudly. It wasn't that he didn't understand the importance of senior staff meetings. He was a marine and most of the time the meetings had little to do with the fighter wing or marine detachment. He felt his time was better used keeping them trained and occupied. He hit his comm again. "Alright lieutenant, keep the fighters going for another hour then reel them in for training debrief." He turned his fighter towards the ship and headed in.

After landing he got out of the fighter and headed straight for the briefing room. He was still in his flight suit but if the meeting was that important they wouldn't bat an eye at it. Entering the briefing room he nodded to Commander Lalor and took a seat.

"Ah Captain Risyga thank you." Phoenix said, and gave him a small smile.

Once everyone was assembled, Phoenix took a breath and stood. "Thank you all for your time today. I do hope this will not take long. With the departure of many of our crew, we are still rebuilding but I intend for us to be at full capacity by the end of the week. I have been granted command of the Elysium and this," she indicated to Gary "Is commander Gary Taylor who has been assigned as our Executive officer." Her silvery blue gaze swept the table. "I know we have been through a lot and really we have not had sufficient down time. That said, we have 7 days to prep the Elysium for our next mission. Command want us to leave in 7 days."

Gary looked at the others seated around the table and gave each of them a nod. He would speak later, individually with each during the next week. Right now this was the Captain's meeting.

"Our mission is to track down this gentleman." An image appeared behind her. It was a middle aged Human male. "This is commodore Heling. He is the former commanding officer of the USS Skylark a decommissioned Galaxy class ship and the man who signed off on our last mission which ended as it did." she said. "Two days ago, he vanished from his home in Texas. Intelligence tracked him to Risa."

"Does command feel or have evidence the Commodore was abducted by force and if so why go to Risa?" He let the question hang.

"According to planetary security forces, there was no evidence of kidnapping. There was evidence of packing and personal items are missing from his office. As for Risa... no one knows." Phoenix confessed.

"So he just up and left on his own volition?" Gary questioned. "Does the Commodore or did he have access to classified information that would make a possible abduction seem likely?"

Phoenix nodded. "It has been assumed that he began preparing for his departure shortly after our return to the Sol System. He also deleted his computer files at both his home and office."

"That seems very peculiar in an of itself." Gary remarked, "Why delete all your files unless you have something to hide and don't want anyone to stumble across it."

Phoenix nodded. She then stood. "We leave in a week. The Admiralty want to get more information before they send us out. Also we are awaiting the arrival of a counseling specialist before departure. All departments are to be ready for departure in 6 days"

Gary stifled a groan at Phoenix's mentioning of a counseling specialist coming on board. He knew that song and dance by heart, having gone through it when he returned from a Romulan POW camp. He didn't hate counselors, they had their purpose though he wasn't sure what it was. Nonetheless he would be polite and welcome the specialist aboard and then stay conveniently out of their way and always busy with some ship duty.

Phoenix looked about. "Dismissed. Oh Commander Taylor, a moment if you please."

Gary looked to his CO, "Of course Captain." He answered smoothly yet wondering what she wanted to speak with about.

LT Matias Grronkil's Personal Log - Log for Lt. Matias Grronkil

The following is a personal log from LT Matias Grronkil.

Personal log for Lieutenant Matias Grronkil, Chief Engineer, USS Elysium.

It has been a long haul as these humans say, but we are now in the home galaxy of the Federation. It has been very interesting when I could detach myself from my duties as Chief Engineer to see my former home retreating from view and the Hunter Galaxy approaching, what its inhabitants call the Milky Way, among other names. It would seem that I would be lonely and homesick leaving my home where I had lived all my life, but it was more thrilling and exciting than I had imagined. There was nothing for me there after my mate died, no children either. I put in a request to my alpha to transfer to the ship with its strange crew, as they needed a new chief engineer, the old one having died in the catastrophe that brought them here. To my surprise, my alpha approved the transfer. I was familiar with this ship anyway, as I led the team in its repairs.

It was some adjustment for me and for my crew, as the customs here are far different from the Grral. Obedience is ingrained in my species, but there is grumbling sometimes that would not be tolerated in a Grral ship. But I did impose military discipline as well as I could. I was told to understand the difference between my people and theirs. I was told to take it up with the counselor, and I put in for an appointment with her.

I heard my new alpha and obeyed.

End of log

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - "Extra Curricular assignment"

A Mission Post by Commander Phoenix Lalor & Lieutenant Commander Gary Taylor

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: Briefing Room

Timeline: MD7 09h45

The senior staff had left the briefing room, leaving the CO and XO behind.

Phoenix waited until the door slid shut and turned to Gary. "I am sorry to ask this, but I need you to liaise with the incoming counselor. Most of the crew who remain, have been through a lot and I do not want them giving the counselor issues. I myself have to see the counselor, but you, your situation is different." She paused and looked at Gary. "Can you do this?"

Gary had steeled himself in advance for whatever Phoenix was prepared to ask him. Now hearing her request, he nodded. "Of course Captain. I'll be glad to help out. I know all about seeing counselors." He answered simply but didn't elaborate. If Phoenix read his file then she would know of his time in a Romulan POW camp and seeing counselors after his release.

"I know and I understand, I am not asking you to see her professionally just to make sure the rest of the crew do." Phoenix said softly.

Gary's answer was short and to the point. "Good." He moved on addressing the rest of Phoenix's request. "As far as the rest of the crew, I'll make sure they see the counselor and no issues arise in meeting with her."

"Thank you." Phoenix smiled. "Do not worry I will be among the first. Now I should let you get on with your day."

"My pleasure Captain." He grinned. "Me? Worry? Not in the job description." He bantered easily with her.

She gave a small laugh. "Well then, I'll worry for the both of us. Thank you commander for taking this on."

He shook his head, "Nothing to worry about Captain. You'll sail through your meeting. I'm sure of it."

"Here's to hoping." Phoenix replied with a smile.

"Captain. You will be fine. Just tell the counselor how you feel. Don't try to guess what she's thinking of your replies. Just be yourself."

She gave a soft laugh. "Well we shall see." She picked up the padds on the table before her. "The counselor should be arriving shortly so we best get moving."

Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty - Fresh sights, Fresh perspective, Fresh start

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Dyhei Liducca

Mission: Episode 1: No Legacy is so Rich as honesty

Location: Several

Timeline: MD8 - morning

Why she was awake quite so early was a thought Dyhei was sleepily contemplating in the still mostly dark hotel room, lit for the moment only by the window shutters having been left open the night before. She rolled onto her side and sliding over to the table at the bedside lighting the small burner below a container of water, a small qwerk of that particular hotel having ‘traditional’ tea making equipment in room for a more ‘authentic’ experience or so the information said.

The burner now on Dyhei rolled backwards and snuggled down into the covers once more, enjoying the calmness and the slim to impossible chance of a comm call for some lab issue, so,etching she expected would be a more common occurrence in her new posting, chief of science, considering her past the assignment was a shock to say the least,

The burner starting to bubble away brought her awake, finally she rose making a small mug of tea, and with a dressing gown on crossed to the window, leaning against the tall frame, she locked out over the city of Tangier already awake as the sun rose behind it, and glinting slightly of the Mediterranean Sea. As Dyhei sipped her drink her mind wandered forward to what was next, she'd already convinced herself that even if the position did turn out to be a mistake she hoped the posting wasn't, given the cutting edge science facilities the ship had, the opportunity to serve in any capacity in the science department was one worth taking.

“Room Service, I have your breakfast here Ms Liducca.” Came a bright voice from behind her pushing a grav trolley into the room, loaded with food stuffs for this room and several others on the floor that had taken the option.

“Hmmm………..That time already,” The woman said slowly and she turned away from the view and moved to table. “That was a gorgeous sunrise, you get chance to take it in?”

“Not as often as I'd like but I hope that's keeping it special, are you enjoying your stay?” The girl asked genuinely as she stopped by the table checked the order and started depositing, covered trays, plates and cutlery on the table.

“Love it, shame it's just the one night, but glad of the experience.” Dyhei replied, struck by the genuineness and demeanor of the girl, she crossed back to her bag stashed next to a chair and dug around in it until her pulled out carry mug, crossing back to the table.

“Yeah my cousins in starfleet,” Nod towards the uniform jacket draped across the chair in the corner of the room. “6th fleet in think or 9th I can't remember, he's moved around that much it's hard to keep track of him. Anyway if there's anything else we can get you were on the other end of a comm”

“I should be fine but thanks anyway.” Handing a now half full mug of tea to the girl. “Here, to keep you going through the morning, don't worry about the mug I'll replicate another.”

“Thank you and enjoy the rest of your morning.” She responded with a beaming smile and walked out of the room, drinking ask she went.

Dyhei watched her go with a contented look before setting herself down at the table and uncovering the food stuffs, most were local traditional items, along with a pair of fried eggs, a personal favorite of hers. Of course these looked different, the usual terran white with golden yellow, as opposed to the grey with blue-green produced by the fowl of her colony birthplace, but still Eggs were Eggs.

Savoring the rest of her breakfast, Dyhei took the opportunity to have a closer look at the ship she would be serving on, specifically the science facilities, granted she’d heard good things but seeing them in print would confirm or correct the scuttlebucket talk. She was captivated by several points, first being science facilities were across more than one deck, the amount of multi-purpose labs, finally that stellar cartography had a two level configuration , 360 degree display with central standalone interface access. This she had to see.

Breakfast finished she showered and changed quickly, donning her uniform as she doubted there would be time to change, even though she planned on traveling from Tangiers to the ship via San Francisco and then the starbase general transporter, slipping out of the hotel and into the bustling streets, drawing a few looks of curiosity as she strolled to the central transport area.

Serveral pattern shuffles later Dyhei materialised on the starbase, stopping promptly of the pad while not forgetting flash a quick but genuine smile to the operator before exiting into the corridor. This put her straight into the day to day flow of life on a starbase, barely a day and a half on a planet and part of her already craved to relaxed pace and more natural air, but that was gone and Dyhei was already making for the first group of turbo lifts, one benefit of the standard-issue-ness of Starfleet, ending up in the right area of the base was easy enough after the first few times, the specifics were the trick.

She'd picked up her pace a little, not just to match those around her but also she wanted to get aboard early enough in Alpha Shift, make her introductions and then start to wrap her head down around what would be involved with the new role. At this point it occurred that her reporting in procedure had changed, and it would be an idea to check what her report in protocol was, which entailed a search on her padd while walking, which entailed her walking into several crew and officers before giving up and just deciding to knock on the executive officers door and hope he or she were not a stuck up know it all with no concept of anything other than duty. Dyhei was starting to get nervous, until she looked up and out of one of the large internal viewing windows, catching sight of the biggest ship in the bay and deciding to treat this as big adventure and just accept the result, following the corridor round she came to the dock tunnel and after flashing her authorisation, strode aboard.

Red (Bajoran) NPC,

Grey (Human) NPC,

Blue (Betaoid) NPC

, Bolian (Red Collar) NPC

“The commander is dead.” Whispered one in a teal shirt. “They just brought her body into the Morgue”

The gathered group sighed and shook their heads “Impulsive” Said one, the lone Vulcan of the group, the yellow of his uniform glowing slightly in the darkness.

“True but... do you think he knows if it is all of us?” another commented, red suited this time with Bajoran nose ridges, softly looking around the small dark area where they had gathered.

“Magnolia would never have betrayed us. She might have sown enough seeds to make him doubt others in the command chain.” The Teal uniformed officer replied.

“Which could be good or bad depending.” Muttered one in Blue.

“So who moves up next?” This voice was from the lone Bolian, the red of his collar contrasting against the blue of his skin.

“Lalor is the second officer.” The Vulcan replied. “Suitable, but not one who will betray the admiral. For all her bluff and bluster, her concerns are for the ship, the crew and him. She will not betray him.”

“And she never trusted Magnolia” The man in grey by the wall watching their entry and exit points, pointed out.

The rest looked at him. “What do you mean?” Asked the Blue collared Betazoid.

“Its well known in the intelligence team, that Phoenix Lalor, doesn’t trust many people. And the Executive Officer, has always made it clear that after the Borg debacle, and the way Magnolia arrived that her trust was still to be earned. As far as we know, this opinion was never changed and more so seeing Magnolia made herself scarce while we were all planet side. She really should have worked closely with Lalor, we could have foisted the suspicion onto her.”

“So she will not be on our side.” The teal officer mused. “We need to get rid of her then.”

“No.” The Vulcan replied. “That would cause too much instability if we kill them both off.”

“Agreed” The Grey replied. “And once we get rid of the Admiral, Lalor will have to deal with the crew and face the choices... we can influence her choices”

The Bajoran sighed. “Her highness is going to order more to the admiral’s security detail when she learns about Magnolia’s death.”

The Bolian nodded. “You can all but put money on that. Good thing, the Trill is so pedantic at the moment, my department is going to be too busy for the Trill to be any use to the Erisan Princess in this matter.”

The Bajoran nodded. “Being in Security means that there will be a roster I am sure, that will affect us all to look after the admiral, but there are not many who would side with us in the department.”

The man in grey held up a hand. “Debate is pointless until we know what the admiral knows. We should wait and see before planning the next move, he lives for now. Go back to your stations or quarters. I will send word when it is safe to meet again.”

With nods and quiet goodbyes, they left, either by main door or by hatch. Soon the man in grey was alone all by himself.

He pulled out a padd and made notes and then left it in a concealed wall hatch. He then left the room like a silent wraith. He had done what he could to protect the chain of command. Now all he had to do was hold back the knives a bit longer.

PRESENT DAY:

Now he stood alone. His allies were running to the four winds. He wanted so badly to disclose to those who needed to know who was against them. The admiral was gone. Never coming back. Their leader had died at his hands, though it was widely held that Magnolia had been killed by the ships' AI.

Lalor was now in charge. Given command, and had made it clear that she was not happy with the secrets and the fact that they had lost any lead on the people who had sent them to hell.

He stood alone, watching as the crew returned from shore leave. It was not a long period, a mere two weeks. There would be scars for sure.

The crew would want blood, Lalor was not alone in that he was sure. Crossing his arms, the man in grey walked back to his quarters. Life was about to get interesting.

OOC: And with this post, the Mission 'No Legacy is so Rich as Honesty' is ended.
