Location: Sick Bay

With speeds that people were always amazed by the gorn was at the side of the security officer. His mobile computer was already scanning her and his eyes widened. " Internal bleeding. Get her into sssurgicol sssuit three right now. " He said to the security officer who nodded and began carrying her to the suit. " Lieutenant Commander can you pleassse look after the cadet. I need to get to work." The gorn said already heading in the direction of the surgical suit.

Ken Waters came into sickbay, Selena close behind, just as Feyth was being moved into surgery. "What's wrong with her?" he asked a passing nurse, grabbing him by the shoulders. "Is she okay? Is she going to be okay?"

River Waters turned at the sound of his older brother. "I think she was caught in the blast," he said uneasily. "The Doctor said there was internal bleeding."

Ken released the nurse and crossed the distance to stand in front of River. "What are you doing here?"

The Cadet looked down, his neon green eyes focused on his boots. "I was outside the shuttlebay during the explosion, too."

Ken looked him over, aside from light bruising, the young man seemed fine. "Neither of you work Gamma shift. What the hell were you doing?"

"Nothing..."

"Nothing?! Prophets, River, you haven't changed. Not at all. You've got a fancy uniform on now, but you're still that same kid that sits around doing 'nothing' while the rest of us take care of you. And as always we're the ones to suffer the consequences of your actions."

River looked away from him.

Ken was too overcome with frustration to say anything more. He turned his attention instead to the doctor and nurses preparing for Feyth's surgery.

=/\= AND NOW =/\=

Forty-five munites later.

The door to the surgical bay opened as the gorn slowly stepped outside along with the rest of the surgical team. " Everyone go and grab a coffee and get some ressst we may be needed later. " he said as he pulled off his bloody surgical gloves before dropping them into the medical waste bin. Hie eyes fell on the small group waiting for him.

" Ssshe'ss going to be fine. I was able to find the ruptured arraysss and patch them up. Ssshe'sss very weak, but ssshe and the baby are going to pull through." The doctor announced

Lia walked in as the Doctor emerged, "Ah Cadet Waters, just the person I wanted to see. I need you to explain what you and CPO Railli were doing in the area of shuttle bay 1?" She turned to SCPO Waters, "Senior Chief, do you mind telling me what your interest is in all this?" She then turned to the Doctor, "Doc, how long before I can talk to her?" Now that she had laid the questions at each of their feet, she awaited their answers.

" Give her sssome time. I don't want to risk the baby by pumping her full of drugs to wake her up." The gorn replied.

Nodding in agreement, Lia turned to the Water boys. "That just leaves you two to do some explaining, anyone care to start?" She fixed the Cadet with a look, "How about you Cadet? Just why were you in the area of Shuttle bay 1? And more importantly, what were you doing there?" She waited for the Cadet to answer, the SCPO would just have to wait.

Cadet River Waters had long since turned white as a sheet. He opened his mouth to speak, but words wouldn't come.

Ken scowled at his younger brother. "Tell me you had some kind of reason to be there," he said, his words dripping acid. "I know you've got a history as a backstabber, but I had hoped even you wouldn't go this far."

"She - she told me to meet her there," River stammered. He put a hand on his forehead and began to pace. "She - she - she said she needed to talk. She said to meet her there. She told me to meet her there. So I went there." He stopped in front of Lia, and looked up at her. He shook his head in disbelief. "She's pregnant?"

" Lieutenant Commander is thisss really necessary this young man may have jussst found out he's going to be a father. No male I've ever know can think ssstraight after finding that out. It seems only the chief petty officer can anssswer the questions at the moment let us calm down and wait till she comesss round. " The gorn said hating the fact that his sickbay was being turned into an interrogation bay.

Turning to SCPO Waters Lia spoke, "Senior Chief, please stay out of this. I know blood is thicker than water, no pun intended. But your doing neither yourself nor Cadet Waters any favours at this time, now to coin a phrase........Butt out!" She took a deep breath and turned to the Doctor, "Ok Doc, your the expert on these matters. When can I speak to either the CPO or the Cadet?" As he answered she quickly looked at the SCPO, "Senior Chief, walk with me".

" Give us ten munites. Ssshe should have come round by then and he'll hopefully have his head fixed. Come on lad letsss get a ssstiff drink inside you ssso you can clear you head." The doctor said as he lead the human towards the replicator.

Lia mean time had taken SCPO Waters to one side, "Ok Senior Chief, you want to start explaining just what the hell you think your doing? Point 1, You're incriminating Cadet Waters. Point 2, You are by dint of that fact, incriminating yourself. Point 3, That leads us to the CPO, want to tell me just which one of you is really in love with that girl? And why she has been put in this position?" Time was running out and Lia had no time for polite chit chat, to hell with tact. It was time to get answers, so it was time to just wade into anyone and see what results you got.

The muscles beneath Ken's jaw worked as he clenched his teeth together. He squeezed his fists so tightly that the knuckles turned white. He desperately DESPERATELY wanted to run across the room, leap on the boy, and choke him to death with his bare hands. The father!? He was the father?! But his instincts told him that he wouldn't get more than a few steps before Lia took him down. He'd deal with River later. Instead he set his eyes on Holmes. "What is it with everyone on this Prophet-foresaken ship and this rumor that I'm in love with her!? For your information I happen to be perfectly happy in a relationship of my own! Maybe you'd like to give that a whirl yourself and stay the hell out of my personal business!"

"Woah, woah," Tate offered firmly as she approached the group. She was tired and keyed up from assisting with triage, and only just now had learned about Feyth. She approached, eagerly looking to talk to the surgical team, when she heard the shouting from one side of sickbay. "I'm sure I don't need to remind everyone there are recovering patients here who don't need the stress of hearing two people shout. Perhaps I can be of assistance?"

" Keep your voice down." The gorn yelled over at Ken as he punched in a code into the replicator. A very dark coffee appeared which the gorn handed to the cadet. " Get this down, you lad." He said in a gentle concerned uncle voice. " Feeling ssscared lad. It'sss perfectly normal to be feeling it. This can't have been easy for you to hear. I know I was terrified when it happned to me. "

River couldn't keep himself from shaking his head. Over and over and over again. "I can't -- this isn't -- how is this happening?" he stammered. He brought the cup up to his lips, but immediately began speaking again instead. "I never thought that something like this could happen. Not in a million years. Why didn't she tell me?"

" Ssshe probably was calling you down to tell you, lad. Drink your coffee and take ssseveral long deep breathsss. " The gorn instructed.

The Cadet did precisely as the Doctor instructed. He surprised himself as he went through the simple motions of breathing, already feeling some of the panic begin to subside. He gave the Doctor a nod. "Is she going to be okay? Is the baby -- is it going to be okay?"

" Both are going to be fine. I've done this sssince before your grandmother walked the galaxy." The gorn replied grinning.

The SCPO's response was what Lia wanted, she had rattled him. "Lets get something straight Senior Chief, I don't do rumours. I do facts, and that's what I want from you! Now get down from that persecution complex, and give me the facts. Act your age, not your bloody shoe size!" She stepped back slightly as the SCPO tensed up, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, it would be a very stupid reaction. Don't forget Senior Chief, I'm new to this barge of the damned. So sordid little love triangles have yet to be gossiped about, now are we going to behave or do I put you in the brig?" She looked at Commander Tate, "Due respect Commander, butt out of this! We have a major situation on board, and this individual has important information about that situation. I don't mean to be rude, but let me do my job". She looked back at the SCPO, "You gonna play ball? Or do we take a walk?"

Watching all of this avidly was the ship's onboard reporter. Well well wasn't this a turn up. She cleared her throat. "Commander, if I may?" She asked and without waiting she clarified. "It is a well known fact that the Senior Chief here and the Chief Petty Officer are friends. They have been friends for years. The Cadet is the Senior Chief's younger brother. There have been as the Senior Chief said, rumours about a Waters with the chief petty officer, I believe that they focused on the Senior Chief due to the age of the Chief Petty Officer and the Senior Chief. It has... also been rumoured that while we were trapped in the Andromeda Galaxy, the Senior Chief was interested in the then chief of Operations. What you have here, Commander in my opinion, is a series of unfortunate events. Which has culminated in this event."

The female voice took Lia by surprise, "Who the hell do you think you are? This is an official investigation, not some "Ask Aunty Annie" advice column!!"

"I am Selena Harris, Federation News Service." Selena replied. "I was with the Senior Chief when we found the Chief Petty Officer."

Lia now turned to face Selena, "Oh really, and just what the bloody hell were you doing at that location may I ask?" This little gem would allow Lia to annoy the SCPO even more, "Senior Chief, just how many women are you romantically linked with on this ship?"

Selena began to laugh "I do not find men attractive" she got out between laughs. "I was doing my own investigation when I ran into the Senior chief."

"Your own investigation? And just what, pray tell me, were you investigating?" Lia never did like the press sticking their noses into places they shouldn't be, "On this ship, I do the investigating. NOT you, got it. You want to know something you come to me FIRST!! Now just what were you poking your snotty little nose into?"

"Commander" The tone was condescending at the least from the reporter. "There was explosions, crew panicking. The last time it happened we spent nearly 7 months in another galaxy! As a reporter I have a right, hell Its my JOB, to be on hand for such events. And I am personally interested in why you are so intent on questioning the Chief Petty Officer. She is a nice enough person I guess, but really she has no clue about bombs..." she smirked "If it was computer programs that give love guidance then maybe I would agree with you."

Counting to ten, Lia took a deep breath and slowly replied. "It maybe your job reporting on the bombing, Miss Harris. But as for my reasons for questioning ANY crewmember, it has damn all to do with you". Lia really didn't need this two bit hack muddying the waters, "Now Miss Harris, you will leave this area and confine yourself to your cabin. Or by all that's holy, you will end up in the brig on charges of collusion with the enemy. Do I make myself clear!"

Selena rolled her eyes at Lia and then stuck her nose in the air and stalked out of medical saying over her shoulder "You cannot stop the Press Commander."

"I'm not trying to stop the press, Miss Harris. Just keep it safe, and out from under my bloody feet!!" Lia had had enough of Selena, that woman was going to regret stepping on Lia's toes.

" Ladiesss." The big gorn said calmly, yet firmly having walked up behind them. " Please keep your voicesss down or else I will personly throw you both out. This is sssickbay not an interrogation cell."

In the confusion of the argument between the two women, Ken felt that he was finally able to breathe again. He leaned out beyond the two of them to look at the Gorn. "Doctor, is she going to be okay? Can I see her?"

Hearing the SCPO's voice reminded Lia of her original line of questioning, "Hold up there Senior Chief, we haven't finished. You will hold your self ready to answer my questions when the time comes understand?" She looked at the Cadet, "The same goes for you Cadet, be ready to report to me and answer my questions". She then looked to the Doctor, "Sorry for the noise Doc, but when will the CPO be fit enough to under go questioning? I really need to speak to her, but I have to report to the brig and our Captain right now". Lia knew something here didn't fit right, but until the three main characters talked she was at a loss.

Tate was furious, But she was professional enough to keep her cool. Not only had she been completely ignored by most in the room, but everyone insisted upon escalating their arguments instead of showing respect for the medical staff and the patients nearby, including Feyth.

She was also disappointed in the chief of security, who seemed to take particular pleasure in being confrontational and unnecessarily condescending in her interactions. It appeared not even the security chief respected the authority of the CMO at the moment and that troubled Tate. She would've hoped a member of the security staff would be just as interested in de-escalating situations as Sullivan was. Of course, there was always a way to pursue justice and safety and still be professional. Sometimes aggression could be mistaken for dedication. She was about to speak to both men when she and the CMO were interrupted.

" Not until.." The gorn began before one of the nurse walked up to him. " Doctor the CPO is coming round. " The young human said which the gorn nooded. " Well looks like you can get your answers." The gorn said as he and the lieutenant commander headed to the surgical bay.

Pausing for a second he turned to the counselor. " Tate could you look after the borthersss for a moment," he asked politely before turning back to the bay. Stepping inside the gorn gave the still groggay woman the warmest smile that he could.

"Of course, Doctor," Sullivan replied. She was torn because she didn't want to leave faith to deal with all of this alone, but looking at both Ken and River, she knew she was needed elsewhere more urgently.

" Welcome back Feyth Railli we almost lossst you there for a ssseconed." The gorn said as he checked the woman's IV drips.

The Bajoran moaned. Her eyelids mere slits, despite her concentrated effort to open them. She tried to sit up. The action was futile, she collapsed back into the pillows and groaned. "What happened?" she asked, her voice was barely a whisper. Her hands went subconsciously to her abdomen. "Is everything okay?"

" You were caught in an explosion. You had ssserious internal bleeding which hasss been patched up. Both you and your child are both going to be fine" The gorn said politely and reassuringly.

Feyth's head fell back to the pillow, her eyes blank on the ceiling above her as tears welled in her eyes.

Lia took one look at the CPO, "You know what Doc, I'll wait until she's in better condition". She turned and headed for the door, "This isn't over Senior Chief, please remember that. And Cadet, I will be sending for you at a later date". With that she left sickbay and went to the brig to meet with the Captain.

Ken took one tentative step forward. "Doctor, please. Can I see her?"

River watched from across the room. Either choosing not to move, or unable to make himself do so.

Glancing side long at the doctor, Tate hoped he wouldn't mind her speaking up. "It's the doctors call of course, but under the circumstances, I'm concerned the stress of what just happened on top of the stress of all of you knowing about her pregnancy might not be what she needs right now. In fact, I think it would be a good idea if I talked with both of you individually for a few minutes before that happens." Sullivan was polite, but also made no secret of the fact it was not a request. Of course, as she talked to each man, she wouldn't be able to let on about anything the woman at the center of all of this had told her, but that didn't mean she couldn't be support for both of them.

Ken saw the futility in any further attempts to get in to see Feyth right now. With the nosy reporter so closely following his actions, it probably wasn't a good idea to press the matter any further. He was getting nowhere and only causing damage to his cause. He let his arms fall to his sides, clapping against his pants. "Alright, Counselor. I'm listening."

==== Deck 43 ====

"Commander Lalor? It's 1LT Andrews. Step back and I'll wedge the door open" he said, jamming his type3 rifle in the opening and putting his body behind it for leverage. "But we have less than minute. I found more explosives in the Armory" he said as the door began to grind open, slowly and unforgivingly.

Snagging her knife, Phoenix drew back. "Lieutenant... you might do best to run for it." she suggested but with no response she waited for it to open. Once opened enough, she ducked out beneath the rifle and stood. "Thank you Lieutenant." She said calmly.

"Save the thanks for later, Commander. The Armory is about to get renovated by some smuggled explosives in less then 45 seconds " he said prying the butt of his rifle from the door.

"Then lets run." She said as she turned and then she began to run.

As they ran, an announcement came over the ship wide Comm. [ Attention all crew. All explosive material has been removed from the Elysium. Please check in with your command line officer.]

Phoenix skidded to a stop on her heels. She took a breath and said "That is some good news." She had noticed her comm badge was missing. "Lieutenant, please contact the bridge and let them know our situation."

=/\=BRIDGE=/\=

Jaeih sat at the operations console finally getting command back from the ops center. She calmly began logging senior staff positions on the ship on a side screen.

Things were still sideways.. Jessinia tapped into the security system to open a link to her children, observation only. Her team was still crunching info, nothing was connected yet On the ship.. ghosts... Damnit!!! She took some deep breathes.. with nothing connecting she couldn't even recommend anything!!! Other than using her abilities.. She kept sifting data, something had to stick out??!!

Avalon reappeared in the command well. "Commander Taylor, I am detecting the Ferengi vessel has resumed their orbit. Our CAP seems to be working.."

Gary looked at the AI as she relayed the news about the Ferengi ship. "Very good Avalon. We can use a bit of good news." He answered stoically as he tried to keep this situation from falling into complete chaos. "Any luck pin pointing where the Captain is?" He inquired of the AI>

Jessinia could have detected the captain, a being like that had a strong spirit. From her vantage point the sensors were still calibrating.. Engineering was going to have a time debugging the system... "Nothing concrete from what I've got.. these guys knew what they were doing.."

=^= Andrews to Taylor. Sir, I've got the Commander. We're heading to the Bridge from deck 43 =^= he said, tapping his comm badge as they ran. "I have uncanny luck, Commander" he chuckled at her. "I'd never leave an officer in distress "

Gary was coordinating disaster control teams when Andrews call came in.=^= Excellent work! That is outstanding. We'll see you when you get here.=^=

Qwyyn put her hand over her left breast and let out a sigh of relief. "Thank the Gods."

=^=Captain, this is Johnson.. Are we DONE playing around?? Can I PLEASE find these asses My Way??=^= Jessinia requested.. FZZZ BZZZ ZZZZ was all Jessinia got in return..

Jaeih gave the intel chief a look that spoke volumes. The AI had reported earlier that the badge was out in space... didn't the woman listen? She turned her gaze back to her console and bit back a snarky report.

But the exchange was enough to tickle Qwyyn's ear. She rose from her console and walked back to where Gary and Jessinia stood. "Something feels weird," she said to them. "I'm probably overreacting, but, they sent her comm badge out into space, and then put her onto another part of the ship, alive, where we were able to quickly recover her? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but something about this isn't sitting quite right."

Gary studied Liselle, from what he had seen of her, she didn't seem like an officer to make rash statements or fly off at the handle. He valued her opinion. "You may have something there Liselle. This could all be misdirection. They know we'd be focused on finding the Captain and our attention would be divided but for what purpose?"

"I don't know," the Trill admitted. She looked to Gary and then to Jessinia. "I'm sorry, I know that's not very helpful. I just can't shake the memory of how they tried to murder the Admiral the last time they made themselves known on the ship. Why play games with the Captain like that? Why didn't they just beam her into space along with the communicator? I'm worried that there's a bigger picture we're not seeing."

Jaeih spoke up from the Ops console. "Maybe the captain isn't the target? Maybe they want us to think she is."

Gary looked over at Jaeih, "Care to elaborate on that?"

Jessinia turned half around. "It can't be divide and conquer. They're way over classed. It has to be Bait and Switch. Thats why I want to go active. These people have core commonality, purpose. Actions. All driven by the same thing. No amount of data sifting is going to find them without another big event going sideways... " She was calming.. calculating, this was a strong challenge. What the Captain gave her latitude to do After finding them?? Was a whole other game...

"Its distraction" Jaeih replied. "Something else is going on. When you are looking one way, you are blind to all else." She gave a shrug. "I am not sure what is the real target, but we are focused on this, and not on the mission."

==== Deck 43 ====

"Well you have my thanks." she paused, "Deck 43... turbolift is ..." she paused and turned."That way."Phoenix pointed to their right.

Michael took Phoenix by the arm and ran to the turbolift. It may have been a bit old fashioned but she was kind of in distress. "Let's get off this deck" he said.

Phoenix nodded "Sounds good to me." She was not about to argue and they picked up the pace to get to the turbolift. Arriving at it Phoenix frowned. The lockdown. "Avalon" she called out.

A moment and then the AI appeared. "Unlock the turbolift please, one way to the bridge"

"Of Course Commander." And then the AI vanished.

The lift doors opened and Phoenix led the MARDETCOM into the lift.

Michael secured his type3 and got in the turbolift with Phoenix. "You can bring disciplinary actions later, Commander" he said then laughed. The situation was tense enough. Laughter seemed to help ease it. =^= Andrews to Taylor. We're on our way to you, Sir =^=

She gave a shrug. "I am not that bad Lieutenant."

A few moments later they exited onto the bridge.

=^=Very good Lieutenant.=^= Gary answered crisply.

A few moments later, Gary looked up as Phoenix and Andrews came onto the bridge. "Captain! Are you alright?" He inquired as he moved to her side, ready to assist her if she needed it.

"I am physically fine Commander, what is our status?" Phoenix asked with a smile of reassurance.

"All explosive materials have been beamed off the ship. We still have main power. Engineering is lockdown to prevent any outside "visitors" Damage control parties are working at controlling the damage from the explosions we did suffer. We have a Valkyrie fighter flying combat air cover for us which reminds me." He tapped his combadge, "Taylor to Valkyrie 1. Time to come home and roost."

"Roger" Mark tapped the controls and headed for the ship. It would be nice to just relax but only time will tell as he brought the valkyrie in for a smooth landing. He powered everything down and got out to look around.

It didn't take a telepath to see that the Captain. physically tired, was on fire. The eyes gave it away, fierce, angry.. GOOD.. It was a rather hard distraction however to see Micheal in his battle armor.. Having Carnal knowledge of what was underneath, only made it more pronounced.. She kept her piece, Wishing Hard for the Captain to be ready to End this Foolishness..

Michael was relieved to see the command crew all assembled, minus those in Engineering and the Shuttlebay. "Commander Taylor, Lieutenant Kopl. I'm relieved to see you're both in good form "he said. Jessinia's look spoke volumes to him. {Our time draws nigh, Jessinia. We have to talk} he thought to her, remaining stone faced.

Meanwhile Qwyyn was staring down Phoenix. Still, she couldn't help a small smile as she shook her head at her friend. "Sometimes I think you picked up the very worst traits of Admiral Sharr; everything you used to yell at him about. You scared me half to death," she said. And then she clasped Phoenix's shoulder. "Thank the Gods you got out of there in one piece."

She Tried to hold her place, Really tried, But,, "Captain, tell me your ready to End this foolishness, I have a way of discovering them..." Jessinia said.. {You mister Will own me.. I'm far to wild for any normal male.. Name you price...}

"We have someone in custody." The AI announced. "Security have him in the Brig."

Phoenix gave Liselle a warm smile. "I don't go wandering off without telling people" she quipped. Then she turned to the Chief of Intelligence. "If security have a suspect then they will deal with it. I would like your team to gather the physical evidence Lieutenant. I am sure though, Commander Holmes would appreciate any evidence you could give her from those areas."

"I need the Identity of our captive, finding associates and areas of activity wo't be a problem from there.." Jessinia drawled smoothly.. It was only a matter of time now, these perps were goin down, she only hoped one would resist, Just enough...

Michael listened to the discussion. All he needed were orders. "Commander, shall I brief the new CAG, when he returns? I've had the pilots running flight simulations on the off chance this thing turns into a chase out there" he said to Lalor. Then he furrowed his brow at Jessinia. {This isn't play time Jess. We have to have a serious talk} he thought to her.

Jaeih calmly brought up the name of the person. "Security have him in the brig." she sent the name to Jessinia's console. "Good luck."

Phoenix nodded at Michael. "Good idea Lieutenant. I want a CAP fully out as soon as security clears all exit points."

Jim nodded Dyhei and Shiannah. "That shouldn't be a problem, Lts. We live but to serve" he said with a disarming smile and offhand chuckle.

"I feel safer already," Dyhei added with a smile, as she continued to make her way.

Shiannah walked over to the console while checking that the tight-link was in with her PaDD place and looked over to Dyhei.

"The transporter records would show any anomalies with U282 or other possible trace elements of a dangerous substances being brought aboard... There should be security protocols and screening in the Transporter sub-routines in place to prevent someone transporting an explosive device on board... Though I'm not technical enough to spot if these logs have been tampered with or, perhaps, if someone is covering their tracks?" Shiannah said looking to Dyhei. "Do you have any suggestions?" she asked.

"Your in luck, I spent eighteen months as part of Operations, specifically the quartermaster section, I've got a few tricks if I remember them." She stated with a smirk, interlocking her fingers and flexing her palms out and away from her. "I'm setting up a comparison with the first transporter log in the system and all transporters logs from the time the ship was last in dock until now, any anomalies should be flaged up. But I do like the thought of the compound being shielded, any ideas of what would provide an adequate shield for that type of explosive, we could scan for that as well."

Shiannah thought for a moment and shook her head."I not sure though as the Transporter sub-routine should be able to track any trace elements even if they were hidden within something else when brought aboard" she added as she switiched through the various open programs on her PaDD minimizing those which were irrelevant to the current investigation. She winced at the masses of data that scrolled down the screen. Long lists from the various re-supply manifests, deliveries of replacement parts and the literally tonnes of other 'stuff' that was brought on-board the USS Elysium as part of the vessels ongoing regular re-supply and mission requirements.

"Perhaps we can screen out the irrelevant material?" Shiannah asked. "I would think that the explosives would probably have been brought on-board disguised as something of a similar chemical make-up so not to raise any flags by the ship's AI or some over-eager crewman... What do you think?"

"I was thinking along the same lines myself, shielded or not, they'd go with a method that would raise the fewest flags, for sure." Dyhei agreed as she keyed in a few commands, her attention on the scrolling information in front of her, "hang on why are we doing all the work, ive got lab with technician who are excellent at this sort of thing, let bring them in." Opening a com line she made her request, "Liducca to Lab Six, need some data analysis done, I'm sending you a chemical structure, and Lt. Shannas is going to send a few data packets, cross reference and report matches." Her attention was then redirected.

Cpl Dulaney scanned the trail from the wreckage to the access hatch. When it reached the hatch, Don whooped. "Sarge! I got it!" He exclaimed.

Raynar rushed over. "Calm down Don. Now what the ..." he paused as Dulaney showed him the reading. He turned back to Dyhei and Shiannah. "It's metaphasic shielding. That's why it didn't register" he said.

"Sarge. LTs. We should feed this into the Bridge and with the team's around the ship. Send out sensor sweeps" he said.

"That would dappen any scan traces, ive never had one so compact before but these are resoursful people, it would seem we've got two theory or two parts of the same theory. Lets test both and see if we get a match and any cross over." Dyhei agreed, understanding the eagerness of the corporal, but wanted to keep from jumping to conclusions. "Lab Six please forward your data those data packets to Lab Three, Liducca to Lab Three your about to receive a distortion frequency, compare against incoming data packets."

"Little miss AI, are you there? Can I access you, it would be real useful right now?"

The AI appeared "My name is Avalon Lieutenant."

"Pleased to meet you Avalon, so we're running down two possable methods of bringing the devices aboard, using two sets of perameters. Can your system cross match the two, and then feed that to......I guess the bridge or command staff or security." Dyhei explained to the avatar in front of her, her uncertainty evident enough because of her unfamiliarity with this use of technology, it's limits and how it would react to requests." I may have said this before, I'm good at how and what, the who and why, that's probably best left to someone else." She added chearily.

Dulaney widened the scanner area but confined the beam to the trace samples. "Lt? I think I found another match" the young corporal said.

Raynar was looking over the wreckage of the shuttle, trying to find any other clues to the saboteurs. "Frack! There's nothing left" he swore. "Avalon, can you tell me if there was any unauthorized entries in this Shuttlebay?" He asked

"Checking" The AI replied. "No. All entries were authorized due to their position requirements."

"Send it though Corporal, we can add it to the data gathered and further refine our search." Dyhei responded to the call, wecoming its inclusion more data meant accurate conclusions.

"Lab Six to Liducca, match found in packet 0-1-8-delta." Came a disembodied but to Dyhei familer voice.

"Check and confirm, stardate and timestamp." She responded.

"484264.1, with timestamp 0734" Came a direct responce. This was followed by a second call. "Lab Three to Shannas and Liducca, may I draw your attenotion to packet 1-7-3-Alpha, if you were gonna sneek it that's about the best slot I reckon, Stardate 484264.1, with timestamp 0734."

This grabed the hybrids attention straight away. "Good work, we may have our first match up." As she spoke Dyhei considered how this could be used to further the investigation, coming up empty she refered to the ships AI. "Avalon, flag cargo transfer on Stardate 484264.1, with timestamp 0734, for further investigation by security."

Jim just observed. Time stamps and such weren't his specialty. You want something dead, that was his area of expertise.

Don transferred the information to the main computer and saved the reference for future use. "Upload complete Lt" he said to Dyhei

Phoenix was sitting at her desk in her quarters, trying to go through a ton of information. She had taken a break from the bridge because there was too much happening and she needed the break.

"Im gar- tul- na ask i cin díhen- amin" A voice said from across the room. In their cabin, Phoenix had turned off the Translator as both she and Miran liked to speak their native tongue to each other.

Phoenix looked up and gave a small smile. "Jhori Shyraes" She said softly.

"Shol Shyraes" Miran replied. She was dressed in Federation clothing. Jeans and teeshirt.

"Sut naa lle umien sina re?"Phoenix asked as Miran stopped before the desk.

"Ai eis shaer sydae" Miran replied "Rni cali sai sar."

" Lle merna amin a' Díhen- Lle," Phoenix stated.

"uma" The teen nodded.

"ed' i' Seldarine Miran, Saesi air byrol sai A'Díhen" Phoenix stood and moved to her sister's side. Gently she brushed back the long bangs of hair from the teens face. "Amin rangwa mankoi lle shaesi mai tar. Amin naa litah lye didn't get ner coiasira no' Arda."

"Amin rangwa mankoi lye -aya il" Miran replied.

"Naa lle quel?" Phoenix asked.

Miran's gaze grew sly. "Ed' i' men, mani naa i' deal yassen lle ar' Ken waters?"

"Byli os Lli sherolaer" Phoenix replied with a laugh and chased her sister out of the room.

Miran laughed and scampered off.

Avalon appeared just outside the Chief of Security's office and hit the chime. She had an incoming priority message for the Commander.

"Enter". Lia was then surprised as Avalon appeared in the office. "Ok, just what are you doing here? Don't you belong to the Captain?" This technology didn't sit well with Lia, the damn thing could just turn up anywhere at will. That's if it had a will, somehow Avalon reminded Lia of a Borg drone. Soulless.

"Apologies Commander for disturbing you. There is a priority Message from the surface for you. Would you like it patched through to here?" The AI asked. "I belong to the ship" she added as an afterthought.

The pleasant nature caught Lia unawares, "Um, yeah, right. Ah, patch through here will you? And just a quick question, how do I address you?" She felt embarrassed, but didn't know why. This thing wasn't real, was it? "Oh your a ship wide system then, can anyone access you?" This was getting stupid, now she was talking to it like it was Human.

"Calling me Avalon will suffice Commander. I can be accessed by all crew. Commander Lalor made sure of that after the issues with the ALICE program that was previously on this vessel. Patching through now. Have a nice day" and the AI faded from view.

"Ok then, I await the message", Lia sat nonplused. oO What the hell just happened Oo, she thought.

The message came through on her vid screen.

["Commander Holmes. Please find here, in this locker(Location appeared on the console) the co-ordinates for the location of the Commodore your team was looking for. Unfortunately he is no fit state to be interrogated, but I am sure where you find him will give the Federation enough information to attempt to shut down the organization known as the WATCH. Have a nice hunt"]

She read the message, then read it again. The locker location was planetside not far from the little shop they all got changed in, that should make getting there easy. Lia was always slightly sceptical when things like this turned up, it could mean a trap of some kind. "Avalon!", this could be awkward considered Lia. "Avalon, I need you to do something". Just how did you get a hologram doda to respond?

Avalon appeared. "Yes Commander? What Can I help you with?" She asked pleasantly.

"I need you to report this to the Captain, show her the entire message. Then report back to me as to what she wants done, is that clear?" Lia fought her natural reaction to just do it her self, if this doda could do it quicker then great.

"of course Commander. I will be back shortly." The AI vanished.

Not 5 minutes later, it reappeared. "Commander, Commander Lalor, has said that Should you wish to go down to the planet you should do so and take a small team of your choice with you."

Lia sat and thought, "Avalon, take the message to Commander Taylor. Give him my regards and ask him to join me on an away mission, then ask Commander Qwyyn to join us. We will all meet in transporter room one, 16:00 hours. Allow both to view the message, any questions will be answered on Risa. Can you comply?" Lia thought those two would be best, Qwyyn for her scanning and electronic knowledge. Taylor for his thought processes and muscle power, and herself for the Security angle. She wondered what awaited them, chances were it wouldn't be a much fun as last time.

"yes Commander I will make sure of it."Avalon replied and vanished.

Once the strange doda had gone Lia started to get ready for the away mission, This time she would be ready for anything. She only hoped that the other two were as keen as she was, in fact they could be even more keen knowing them.

CMDR Phoenix Lalor's Personal Log - Dislike for Chaos

The following is a personal log from CMDR Phoenix Lalor.

It is well known that I dislike chaos. Everything needs to be orderly. But Starfleet has never been orderly. I guess it is why I liked Operations. But the investigation into the explosions on our ship is driving me slightly crazy. I appreciate the hard work my team has put in over the past few hours. It has not been easy. And there is more to come. I knew it was too much to ask that we have a quiet mission after the past 7 months. I knew I was silly to expect it.

The crew are watchful now. I hate that suspicion has grown in our hearts that we cannot trust each other. I see it in the eyes of our security and marine teams, in the eyes of the Intelligence team. I see the underlying fear in the eyes of the civilians as I walk the halls. The fear that, is unknown, is there because of an unknown group who is undertaking terrorist actions on this ship and for all we know, across the federation.

I have sent an update on our situation to the Admiralty and I know they are probably wondering why they followed Sharr's wishes where I am concerned. I take comfort from the fact that our engineering team is working well under their chief and the ship will be repaired within short order. I take comfort from the fact that three departments known for being in their own silos are working together. Security, Intelligence and the Marines have worked together in the ongoing investigation and it is good to see.

We have several wounded in Medical, one who is recovering from surgery.

I am hoping that the small away team Lt. Commander Holmes is putting together will bring us more answers than questions, though I am wondering when I will have people banging on my door demanding to know why they were not selected in the team. I have in light of the Lieutenant Commander's actions, be promoting her to second officer once I have a chance. I feel that she will keep Lt.Commander Taylor and myself on our toes and will keep us honest so to speak.

My 'abduction' was to my mind a distraction from our real goal. I know Holmes and her away team will get us back on track. I am through being distracted and I want that commodore in our Brig and failing that, in the morgue. I know it sounds harsh but after the past few hours, I am so over being two steps behind these [Word too bad to say] and I want this finished and ended.

LT Matias Grronkil's Personal Log - Log for Lt. Matias Grronkil

The following is a personal log from LT Matias Grronkil.

It has been a confusing time for me and my Engineering crew. The explosion caught all of us by surprise and it was barely contained. It could have ruptured the warp core if it had not been contained.

Security has responded as quickly as they could and now the area is secure. I have prepared myself a cup of Raktjino to keep me alert as I work to keep the power intact. I do hope they find that rrrakzni soon. (If the universal translator tried to translate that it would blow a fuse.) I haven't heard from Commander Holmes yet, but it is just a matter of time. I am keeping watch over my people to make sure all are with me and none are working against me. I have received reports that all explosive devices have been beamed into space. That is a relief, but I will keep alert just in case.

"Thank the Gods for tiny miracles," the Chief of Flight Control added.

"Understood, my beta," said Matias. "Grronkil out."

He then called Security "Grronkil to Security. Main Engineering is under lockdown. Nobody comes in or out without the approval of Command or myself." He said "Let's keep power going through the ship, people. You know your jobs."

Sitting on guard in the brig, Alfonse heard Grrokil. =^="Stiegalle to engineering, roger that. We're a bit over extended right now, it maybe some time before Commander Holmes gets to you. If you need to contact her, she's in sickbay doing interviews"=^=. He hoped that would do for now, problem being he was starting to go stir crazy sitting here. But orders were orders, and Holmes didn't like it if you disobeyed them.

"Understood," said Matias. "We'll make do with what we have. Grronkil to Holmes, we're working on keeping the power going, but we'll need help in protecting Engineering."

Lia heard Matias calling her as she walked to the brig, =^="Holmes here, ok Chief I'll send someone over as soon as possible. Sorry to say we're a bit thin on the ground right now, Holmes out"=^=. She then called Alfonse, =^="Holmes to Stiegalle, take one guard one guy with you and report to main engineering asap. I believe the Captain and OX are both there, so our guest should be safe. Holmes out"=^=.

Alfonse looked around but he could only see the XO, but hey orders from Holmes were best obeyed. =^="Stiegalle here, roger that. On my way, out"=^=. He motioned to another Security guard and the pair left for main engineering.

Cpl Will Wallace and 2 teams showed up. "Lt Stiegalle. I'm Cpl Wallace. Sgt Raynar sent us over to lend you a hand. What can we do to help ?" the young man asked, slinging his type3 over his shoulder.

Looking at the Marines, Alfonse pointed. "Well Cpl. You can post your teams at the entrances to main engineering, and if you liaise with the CEO over there he'll let you know who's in and who's not. That ok with you?" He put his own guy inside the CEO's Office, just to make sure. Then he walked over to the CEO, "Lieutenant Stiegalle and two Marine teams reporting Chief, I've placed the Marines at both entrances and one of my guys in your Office. Can we do anything else sir?"

"Yes you can," said Matias. "Scan all here in Engineering. Only those are allowed in here. The only exceptions are the CO and XO. Any other has to go through me."

Alfonse nodded, "All ready told the Cpl. That one sir. Does that ruling include Commander Holmes? I have to report to the Commander, so I'll leave you with Cpl. Wallace and his teams". Alfonse did a quick dip of the head and turned to leave, "Oh, by the way, sir, once I've gone do let my guy know if you need us again".

"Commander Holmes is allowed as well," said Matias. "I'm sorry, things have been chaos right now and it slipped my mind. The Commander will want to look over the blast site and question people."

Cpl Wallace stationed his 2 PFCs at the entrance and went to Gronkil. "Lt Gronkil. I'm Cpl Wallace. Sgt Raynar sent us down here to help. I've got 2 men stationed at the entrance. Orders are no admittance, CO and XO are exceptions" he said. "What else can I do to help?" He asked.

"Include Commander Holmes as another exception." said Matias. "You are doing well. I can't think of anything else right now, but keep alert."

Avalon appeared in Commander Taylor's office. "Commander Taylor. Commander Holmes requested that you see this, and join her in Transporter room 1 at 16h00 for an away mission."

Gary looked up at the AI's appearance. He had been involved in reading reports relating to their most recent situation. "Thank you Avalon." He answered easily as he began to read.

As Gary read, he quietly seethed with anger. While the note seemed to indicate they would answers, it also seemed to be toying with them. It suggested one door was being closed but another was opening. Personally he wanted all those that were concerned with the attack on the Elysium and the abduction of Commander Lalor to be caught, tried and convicted.

When he had finished he, looked to Avalon, "Tell Commander Holmes I will see her in transporter Room 1 and this time we end it."

=/\= Chief Flight controllers office=/\=

Liselle sat with her feet planted against her desk, her chair pitched sharply back on its hind legs. She had her fingers twined behind her head, her eyes charting imperfections on the ceiling above. She was completely lost in her own mind, her thoughts swirling around everything that had happened since leaving the starbase. There was so much to consider: the mission, the mutiny, Feyth, Lalor, and of course her own future aboard the Elysium. The sessions with Counselor Tate were certainly helping, but --

Avalon appeared sudenly on the other side of her desk.

"Lt. Commander Qwyyn. Commander Holmes requested that you see this, and join her in Transporter room 1 at 16h00 for an away mission."

Liselle took her feet from her desk and let her chair fall forward.

She smacked the desk with her open palm. Hard.

===/\= 16h00 Transporter Room 1=/\===

As she entered the transporter room Lia glanced round, there was only the transporter operator. She checked her gear and kept glancing at the door, that Avalon doda had said it was a go. Her nerves about people not showing up began to bug her, oO Perhaps I should have done it myself Oo she thought.

As if reading her thoughts, Gary entered the transporter room a few moments later, seeing Lia already there, he smiled and moved to her. "I see your ready to go." He said casually in reference to her gear. Then in a lower voice he added, "And no I haven't forgotten we need to talk."

Lia looked at Taylor, "If I'm honest, I hadn't thought about it, but yeah your right. We do need to talk, but we have to be straight with one another no saying what we think the other wants to hear". She moved away a little, more out of guilt than anything. She then continued to talk, "Where do you think Lisselle is? I sure hope she's not trying to bring the CEO along, I'm sure those two really hit it off you know". Only once she said it did Lia realise what she said, "Damn it, me and my big mouth. That wasn't a hint by the way, I just think Liselle and the Wolf make a nice couple".

Gary nodded in agreement. "Of course. I am honest if nothing else." He looked at Lia as she suddenly changed the topic. "Don't worry. she'll be here, she's just probably making sure she has what she needs. " He shook his head and chuckled softly. "Lia relax. You didn't commit a sin and they do make a nice couple." He added noncommittally.

Liselle stepped through the threshold to Transporter Room 1. She felt some of the tension ebb from her shoulders upon seeing Lia and Gary waiting there. She liked the two of them a great deal already. To her surprise, she also felt a pang of disappointment that Lieutenant Grronkil was not with them. Farce or no, their little role-play of a relationship had gone a long way to boost her spirits. It had been nice to feel like a part of a couple, something she'd not had in a couple of lifetimes now. And besides, make-believe relationships tended to be nothing but absolutely wonderful.

The Trill's eyes sparkled with mischief. She had always enjoyed gossip, and the distraction from her earlier anger at Avalon's relayed message was more than welcome. "Which couple? Who are we talking about?"

Gary smiled as Liselle entered the transporter room. "Hello Liselle, glad you could join us." He looked at Lia and then back at Liselle. "Um, I refuse to answer as I want to keep my head attached to my shoulders." He bantered back.

Lia blushed bright red, "Oh no one really, just idle gossip as we waited". She hoped that the topic would now be dropped, "Anyway people, you both read the message. It seems we have a collection job on our hands, one dead Commodore and other interesting articles. Shall we be away and find these wonderful things? Crewman! Energise". All three winked out of sight on the ship and re-appeared moments later on the planet, "Liselle, can you scan the area. I don't want to walk onto a trap, Commander any ideas on how to proceed?" Stated Lia.

Gary chuckled softly as Lia blushed red at Liselle's question. A moment later they were planet side. He looked over at Lia as she made her query, "I think the best way to approach this is head on.....for one of us. the other two can take up flanking positions and cover the third as well as the area....in case it is a trap."

Liselle flipped open her tricorder and immediately set to working a basic scan of the area. She tapped away at the screen. Her brow furrowed. She looked up at the sparse woods ahead of them, and then down at her tricorder, then back to the wooded area again. The Trill bit her lip and shook her head. "There's something up ahead," she said. "It's strange, though. I'm recording several scattering pylons meant to throw off sensors. The reason I'm reading them is because they've recently been disabled. It looks like they were once concealing a rather large rectangular area; some sort of building, perhaps? Commander, this trap suggestion of yours is sounding more and more likely to me."

Gary nodded at Liselle as she made her readings known. "Thank you Liselle. Fools rush in where angels fear to thread." He replied as he shot a glance at Lia, "Your recommendations Lia?"

Taking in the landscape, Lia shook her head. "Well one of this intrepid trio has to go first, as Security Officer looks like it's gonna be me". She turned to look at the other two, "Lisselle, keep scanning will you. Try and give me some kind of heads up on anything you find, Gary, sorry, Commander. Would you be so kind as watch my six, and if the need arises lend a hand?" She smiled as she spoke, her nerves were alive with the possible threat but caution also sat on her shoulder reminding her to take care. She turned back and again scanned the area, "That's unless anyone else has a suggestion, the floor is open you know".

Gary looked between the two women as he spoke. "Your plan is good overall however I offer another option. What if we use a distraction? Have Liselle continue to scan the area. I can act like I'm going to the rectangle area, draw any who are watching to me while you Lia actually retrieve the information we're after." He shrugged his shoulders, "Or we do it your way." He told Lia.

Lia moved forwards, "My way, lets find this damn locker and see what's in it". She approached the building, "Well isn't this a wonderful place to hide, anyone see or hear anything?". Then as an afterthought she turned to Taylor smiling, "You do know watching my six, doesn't mean watching this thing don't you" she pointed at her rear. "Just for your information Gary", she winked and carried on.

Gary had been scanning the area for any possible signs of an ambush when Lia spoke to him. He smiled indulgently at her. Yes, I'm quite aware of watching your six means Lia." A small smile coming to his face as they proceeded toward the building and the locker it contained.

Not getting any negative reports for anyone Lia entered the building, a shabby one room affair with busted windows and the stink of an old toilet. "If you come in here, hold your breath. It stinks". She saw the locker half open, "Is this a joke? A paper bloody swan? What the hell is this?" She came out of the building holding the swan, "Well people this is all we got, suggestions?"

"Yes. Matter of fact I do. A swan such as this is called Origami. It is supposed to be opened, revealing a message inside it." He looked at Lia. "Open it."

She gave Taylor a sideways look, "Origami? Isn't that an Italian sausage?". She unfolded the swan, "Oh who's a clever little boy, we have co-ordinates here". She handed the paper to Taylor, "You want to call them in Commander? You did kindda find them, and I guess I owe you that much". She blushed slightly, "We're gonna have to stop meeting like this you know", she said smiling.

Gary shook his head, "No, it's alright Lia. You can call them in after all,we're after results." He said returning the smile before adding, "Yes, I know."

Liselle looked to Lia and then to Gary, saying nothing. Hand't the XO mentioned a wife at some point? Really, it was none of her business. Although she couldn't help but feel like a third wheel now that it was just the three of them. The Trill started toward the building. With Lia having braved the walk straight into the structure without tripping any apparent traps, Qwyyn was willing to take the trip herself now. "I'm just going to run a few detailed scans before we leave. In this building. Where it will be very hard to hear the two of you."

Gary knew what Liselle was trying to do but now wasn't the time or the place to talk to Lia. Shaking his head, Gary replied, "No Liselle, no one is going anywhere alone." He replied, hoping his tone indicated how much he appreciated the offer. Shifting his gaze to Lia he spoke, "Call the coordinates in and lets get on with this."

Liselle's comment brought Lia back to reality, "Oh sorry Liselle, I wouldn't go in there if I were you. It stinks, and there's not much to see". She looked back at Taylor, "Yeah, good idea". She placed her communicator on to her tricorder, into which she had inputted the co-ordinates. =^="Holmes to Elysium, I'm sending you a set of co-ords. My away team and I require a site to site transfer, engage"=^=. The world seemed to blink and all three now stood in a building, Lia looked around. "Ok Liselle, which way? Commander thoughts, because right now I don't see anything out of the ordinary". She waited as Liselle scanned the area.

The area where they had arrived was a standard Starfleet Military bunker. They were in a large circular area with two large halls off to their left and right. One of the halls, it was clear to see opened up a few hundred meters into a larger area, and it was well lit. The other, to the right of Liselle, ended in a sealed hatch.

"Liselle. scan the area for life signs." Gary snapped. He wasn't taking any chances, not with them coming this far. "Doesn't look like anyone is home." He said to the others while waiting for Liselle to give them the results of her scan.

"You know these places always seem to be placed in really out of the way areas, why is that I wonder?" Lia was making idle chit chat as Liselle did her stuff, looking at Taylor she thought he was about to start a war.

"So people like us can't find them." Gary answered solemnly.

The fingers of Qwyyn's right hand danced across her tricorder. She swung a bit to the left, then a bit to the right, and then she settled for the left once again. "This place was definitely popular with same group of people as our last port of call. I'm picking up scattering fields again meant to disrupt scanners. And again, they've recently been powered down. I've got organic material in this direction." She pointed to the hallway on her left. "No life-signs, though," she added darkly.

Gary took in what Liselle said, he looked over at Lia, "I think our choice is clear. We go left. Unless you have reason not to."

Shaking her head Lia started left, "Tell you what Commander, since I went first on the last building. You can lead the way on this one, and I'll watch your six ok?" She gave Taylor a cheeky grin, and stood back as he passed her.

"Of course Commander, that is perfectly reasonable." Gary returned as he moved passed her and took the point, heading down the hallway, moving slowly, checking everything along the way. After a few minutes and not being attacked by any unseen assailants the trio reached the center of the room. Gary stopped and looked back at Lia and Liselle. "I think we just found the Commodore."

Looking past the other two, Lia could see a body with two chest wounds. "Look's like he really pissed somebody off, reckon that someone was our missing Lieutenant. What say you Commander?" She swept the room with her phaser, but it seemed nobody was there. "There's a lot of computers here, Liselle do you think you can do anything with them?" Lia looked at Liselle, this was her area.

Gary gave the Commodore only a cursory glance, it was clear he was dead. He was thinking that he hadn't been long killed, not with Lia getting the cryptic note and them arriving here. not to mention the body didn't smell and there was no evidence of decay. He moved closer to the computers. "These computers may have some information on them if they haven't been wiped clean."

Qwyyn folded her tricorder closed and stuffed it into its pouch at her belt. She picked a console at random and walked over to it. Leaning over the control surface, she tried her luck at pulling up the main interface. After a few unsuccessful attempts at getting directory access, she decided to grab a nearby chair and pull it over. She sat herself down and got to work. Her brow furrowed as she typed away. "Okay, guys. Good news and bad news," she announced over her shoulder. "Good news is that they seem eager for me to find a new set of coordinates, because that's the only useful thing I've got. Bad news is that I've definitely alerted someone on the network about it. Whoever wants us to find our next destination knows we're about to go there. Although I suppose if they wanted to jump us, they'd have done that already..."

"Good work Liselle." Gary complimented the Trill as he checked his phaser. "Set your phaser to stun and lets not disappoint whoever is waiting for us." He paused and then almost as an afterthought commented to the others, " We need to have the Commodore's body sent back to the ship.... so we can positively ID it as the Commodore."

Pulling out an electronic tag and activating it, Lia placed it on the Commodore. =^="Holmes to Elysium, lock on to the object I've just tagged. Warn the Doctor off, and then beam it directly to the sickbay autopsy department. Holmes out"=^=. She looked on as the body was beamed out, "Now our guest has departed, perhaps we should follow. Liselle, you want to give those co-ords to the ship and get us transferred there. That's if you finished downloading of course, hope we got some useful intel". She looked at Taylor, "I want that bloody Lieutenant alive Commander, if at all possible. But don't take chances, if he opens up we shoot to kill".

Gary nodded gravely at Lia's order. "Of course Commander. As it should be." Lia and the rest had no idea just how dangerous and deadly he could be when the situation warranted it..... like their present one.

Qwyyn hopped up from her chair. "I think I've got everything I can. I've uploaded their database along with the coordinates to the Elysium." She pulled her phaser, checking the setting, and stood with Gary and Lia. She gave the XO a nod. "Whenever you're ready, sir."

"Very good Liselle, then let the Three Musketeers go forth as we have a date with a wayward Lieutenant. A date I very much want to keep."

"Aye, sir." Qwyyn tapped her comm badge. "Lieutenant Commander Qwyyn to Elysium. Have our party transported to the coordinates I've uploaded to you. Destination to be considered hostile."

"Understood. Transport commencing."

" Yes, I'm eating well. I'm a doctor and I know how to regain my own weight. You don't have to worry" The gorn said as he looked over the cliffs and onto the pink ocean bellow. It was always beautiful here even if here had ceased to exist long ago. It was his happy place the place he would retreat to if he needed to escape the busy life onboard ship. So many memories here that he could never let go off.

The door opening brought him out of his thoughts. Grinning at the sight of Lieutenant Dyhei Liducca he walked towards her. " Ah Dyhei glad you could make it. Apologissse for not having everything ready jussst letting myself think." He stated politely his feet crunching on the holographic pebbled path.

Holographic training programs were as common as replicated meals aboard a starship, so having a training session there was not surprising. What was supposing was the view that greater her as Dyhei stepped onto the deck, and image of a far away world, a grin creat across her face as she walked forward. "Apology not needed. This is quite a place, a trattoria before the training begins, an interesting method." She expressed while closing the gap to the large Gorn doctor.

" I have many happy memoriesss of Nihal IV. It was a beautiful world before the Dominion killed it." The gorn replied slightly bitterness in his voice. " Ssstill ssshall we get your lessssons ssstarted? " He said as he reached the hybrid.

"That sounds like an idea." Dyhei responded quickly, keen to delve into the subject and further enhance her skills. "What do we start with?"

" Computer load program ssseven five basicsss." The gorn said as the scenery changed and was replaced by a copy of the academy's medical centre. A standard medical first aid kit sat upon a table which the gorn walked behind. " We'll ssstart with going through thisss and ssseeing what you know." He said as he began opening the kit.

She stepped around the table that appeared in front of her, casting her eyes over the equipment on display, and then gave a rundown of what they were, adding her own unique twist of course, "Firstly tricorder, medical version of course, information is key. Then we have a dermal regenerator for those surface injuries. Protoplaser, for the deeper and more serious patch ups. The Cardiostimulator and also a respirator, for when things have gone really bad. Then bandage assortment and hypospray with selected medication to manage any injuries."

" Very good. That will help usss ssspeed things up a bit. Now, ssshall we cover the most basic injuriesss you're likely to encounter?" The gorn replied with a smile.

"I'm game." Dyhei stated positively and with a firm nod.

" Very well. " The gorn responded as the table changed to show several holo images. " Ssshall we ssstart with breaks or lacerationsss? " he asked

"Lacerations are more likely during combat or alert situations, because of the bits of ship flying around from major failures or internal explosions." Dyhei recited both from the training manual and her own personal experiences. "Do you want just the causes or how I'd treat the injury?"

" How would you treat a laceration from an unknown bladed weapon. " The gorn responded wanting to test her knowledge.

"First thing would be to try to stem any bleeding quickly." She responded quickly. "Then I guess I'd find out how deep the wound was as that would affect which tool was used. " Dyhei added after a few moments of thought, she'd heard enough about certain klingon weapons to not assume a wound would be superficial. "Ohh monitor for signs of Shock, always a concern with blood loss."

" Very good. You ssshould alssso ssscan for toxinsss and posssionsss. While not a priority it is vital that any be found as quickly as possible. " The gorn replied. This was going to be very easy.

Toxin, poison, scan. Got it." She repeated back, a string of head bobs in time with each point as she commed the extra point to memory. "Breaks now?"

" Yesss we should...." The gorn started before his com badge began to bleep. Sighing slightly the gorn pressed his badge. " Sorry for interrupting you Docotr we have a doctor Khoni calling you he says it's urgent. " came the voice of one of the commincations officers. " Sssorry my dear would you mind if i put him through to here. That eel woudn't call me if it wasn't a priority and it shoudn't take long. " The gorn asked the hybrid politly.

Intrigued by the call, and not seeing it as an interuption, Dyhei stepped to one side, responding. "I wouldn't mind at all, in fact, it has me quite curious. Would you mind if I listened in?" She asked while leaning against the next empty table.

" I'm sure he won't mind." The gorn said as he tapped his comm badge. " Put him through." He said as the holodeck changed to the communications setting. An image blinked into existence of what closely resembled a black eel it's massive body covered with alien barnacles and coral. A faint luminist light pumped alien it's spines as an alien noise flooded the chamber.

“ Pleassse repeat that doctor. Your translator isn’t working.” The gorn stated.

The noise sounded again before it finally came through in federation basic. “ …..the fungus isn’t working. Initial scans have shown no effect on curing the weapons effects.” The eel stated it voice still showing panic despite the heavily distorted computer translated voice. The gorn turned to the hybrid knowing she would be rather confused. “ One of the ssspecies on their planet has been infected with a old Klingon bioweapon that some arms merchantsss decide to dump on their planet. Trouble is the klangor pods live so far down in the planet deepsss regular medicine would be crushed getting down there. Me and the good doctor had come up with the idea of using form of fungi that inhabitsss the sssea floor to distribute the cure. “ He said giving her the basic rundown.

" Doctor please sssend me the ssscan resultsss maybe i can sssee what went wrong." The gorn replied.

" At once. Who is your companion?" The computrised voice asked.

"Dyhei Liducca, I'm a science officer aboard ship." She responded quickly, intrigued by the problem they were tackling, and at the level of cooperation. "I'm brushing up on emergancy triage skills under Sthilg guidance. Pleased to meet you."

" The pleasure is all mine." The eel replied as the gorn was busy reading the sent over data.

" Dyhei can you think of anything that can cause Theta radiation that could exist at two hundred miles benieth the sea?" The gorn asked the hybrid.

"Well it's a byproduct of antimater waste, crude but effective as bioweapon go, all you'd need is the right trigger mechanism and a casing, which would not stand those types of pressures, it'd do well to reach seventy-five miles before imploding. The currents would do the rest." Dyhei stated frankly and with a note of disgust in her tone, she disliked this missaplication of scientific theory, then a thought accured to her. "Can I ask is the concentration dissipating, or increasing?"

" Except the bioweapon usesss a virusss as it'sss delivery sssysssstem. Sssomething else is causing the ssspread of theta radiation. It must be causing the cure to breack down." The gorn said as he showed the hybrid the probe results from the cure's dispersal area.

"So the Theta Radiation is piggybacking on a virus?" She asked almost rhetorically, the discussion was dealing with area that she had a basic grasp of the principals but no in depth knowledge. "What if the virus is infecting your delivery system, the fungus, it could be inhibiting your cure which is then overwhelmed with Theta Radiation." Dyhei thought aloud. "Could the fungus be made resistent to that viral strain and still carry the cure?"

" Possibly. They already have a radiation resistance due to the proximity to volcanic fissures in the planet. " The eel replied.

" Ssstarfleet Medical ssshould ssstill be in the area. It ssshouldn't be too hard for them to replicate. Though that leavesss the question how the radation got there int he first place." The gorn wondred out loud.

"A fair question, and one I'd struggle with to be honest. aside from the obvious, weapon delivery systems are not my thing." She admitted while shaking her head, then made suggestion. "I think Tactical or even Intelligence would be your next ask, although I'd be ready for jurisdictional fight with those lot."

" Other than an accidental contamination I can't think of anything. Though your right we ssshould inform ssstafleet intelligence. I'll sssend the data over to ssstarfleet medical and anything I can come up with." He said to the eel who was glowing with a light that you could tell was happyiness.

" Thank you doctor. I shall inform you if we come up with anything on our end." The alien eel stated before the comms faded.

" I apologissse about that Dyhei. The universsse has a habit of throwing thingsss at me during my ssspare time." The gorn said looking over at the hybrid.

"No need too, thing such as that need to be delta with as and when they arise." She countered genuinely, before going on to admit. "To be honest I was quite interested in the problem and if you would let me know how things turn out or if there is anyway I can help further. You know where I am. So where we're we?"

" We were going over fractures and how you would fix them." The gorn said as he reactived the program to where they ahd left off.

[Forty Minutes Later]

Dyhei leaned back against a bench as the last holographic example disappeared, she had certainly been put through her paces, but was pleased enough with how she handled herself. "So Doc, how'd i do? Would you be happy with me diving in to patch folks up if needed?"

" I'll need to sssend the resultsss to another doctor, but in a few daysss you ssshould have a basssic medical certificate that allows you to help out in sssickbay." The gorn said grinning happily as he saved the results to his wrist mounted computer.

"Sounds great, let me know as soon as you find out." She responded with a smile.

" I will. " The gorn replied to the hybrid who was leaving the holodeck. He smiled to himself as his computer finished downloading the data before he as well left the holodeck.

==And now, the conclusion ==

-=/\=- Bridge-=/\=

Phoenix returned to the bridge as the team beamed down to the planet surface. She waited until medical called in the receipt of a very dead commodore, then summoned the Crew to duty posts.

[ATTENTION ALL CREW, ALL HANDS TO STATIONS. ALL HANDS TO THEIR STATIONS.]

Phoenix had a bad feeling about a dead commodore. He was obviously killed to protect something and she did not want to be caught with their pants down again.

Avalon appeared. "Commander, Security reports that the co-conspirators on board the ship have been apprehended by the combined teams of Security, Marines and Intelligence."

Phoenix nodded "that's good."

after having her children's attendant arrive Jessinia made her way to the intel ops center.. She'd purposefully kept herself clear of Everything in the overnight period. Coddling her little ones, uncertain of her fate on the ship. perhaps she should have gone through a simulated ship before taking an actual posting. Her reactivity had gotten the better of her.. As she entered her direct aid handed her a PAdd.. She sat to read but nearly bolted upright as she discovered,, They Had Perps!! Would the Captain let her in that door?? All she could do was shut her mouth and wait to be called upon. "Bring me EVERYTHING on these people.."

Michael had returned to Marine barracks, preparing for whatever would come next. He wasn't sure what lay ahead but such was the nature of a marine. He could only prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Raynar and Dulaney remained in the shuttlebay, just as a precaution. Security had been breached so extra was needed. Jim patrolled as Don kept watch on corridors.

Stepping onto the bridge, which for Dyhei was still a relatively new thing, she walked purposefully towards her station, took a seat and started to monitor sensor data coming from some of the more specialised modules that were common to the larger ships. "Captain, your no doubt aware the shuttlebay investigation threw up a probable shielding method for the explosives. Science teams have played around and refined parameters for its detection and extrapolate another two, Ops and Tactical might benefit from the settings, in case further supprises." She offered after a moment or two.

"Grronkil to bridge. All is in order in Engineering. No more unusal activity."

" Sssthilg to bridge. Everything isss ready in sssickbay. Awaiting casssualtiesss."

As Tate watched the doctor close the com line, she gave him a slight nod. She would assist him whatever came.

Jim Raynar kept his men on patrol. Just because the immediate threat was contained didn't mean it was over.

=^= Andrews to Lalor. Marines are doing patrols, Commander. Stem to stern =^= he told her.

=/\= Planetside =/\=

The three of them dissolved into the swirling, sparkling light of the transporter.

As they reappeared Lia was somewhat confused, "Don't get me wrong guys, but have we been here before?" At first glance, it looked like the beam down point the four of them had arrived at several hours ago. But that couldn't be right, could it?

Gary looked around, "What about that Liselle? Is the same place we beamed down before?" He didn't want to think that they were going around in circles but it certainly appeared that way and that annoyed him..... greatly.

The Trill was on her tricorder immediately. A few taps. Her eyes tightened. She lowered the device. "My scans are being blocked. My best guess is from scattering fields emanating from very carefully placed emitter pylons," she said. "But here's the funny thing: one of the pylons powered down just now. I think someone might still be in the process of vacating this place. We may have arrived a bit ahead of their schedule."

From an alley way was the sounds of a scuffle and shouts.

Liselle switched out her tricorder for her phaser. She kept her mouth closed, looked to Lia for direction on how to proceed.

Lia flattened herself against a wall, she looked at Taylor and using her hand told him to do the same. Glancing at Liselle, she signaled her to join her against the wall. She then signaled Taylor to count down from three when the pair would rush the alley, 3...2...1!!! The pair dipped and headed up the alley to find three guys fighting, one of them their missing lieutenant. Holding her phaser on them Lia spoke, "Well now what do we have here? Don't think of running boy's, my man here would just like it if you tried". She looked at Taylor to continue the arrest.

Entering the ally, Gary and Lia quickly came upon the sounds of the fight as well as the three men involved. Gary didn't look left or right. His eyes were locked on the three men in front of them. An evil smile spread across his face indicating just how much he would much he would enjoy it. His phaser was leveled at the three. "You." He said to the lieutenant, "Come here." To the other two, "Hands up, atop your head and drop to your knees." When the pair was a little slow to comply he snapped, "NOW!" To speed them up. His eyes never left them as he spoke to Liselle, "Qwyyn, if they twitch, shoot them."

"Gladly," the Trill said coldly. She adjusted her grip on her phaser to emphasize her eagerness to carry out the command. This was the closest they had come so far to payback for the Admiral. For the Elysium.

Walking over to one of the other two, Lia looked him over. "You look like shit, and smell like it to. Just what have you boys been up to?" She walked around the first and approached the second, "And you boyo, look and smell exactly the same. Have you all found a shit pit to play in?" She then headed for the Lieutenant, "Now you, sonny Jim. You I want, and I want the information you hold got it!! These pair of losers are just that, losers. You on the other hand, I get to play with you. And just for the record, I play dirty. And with scum like you, I can get really dirty". She looked up at Taylor,

"Commander, will you inform the Captain that we have a special guest arriving with us. I think she may want to be there when he arrives, Liselle keep watching the other two". Lia took station for the beam up, "If you would be so kind Commander". Lia's voice dripped with ice and venom, her eye's were cold and almost blank. If anyone cared to look hard, they would see Commander Lia Holmes shaking with controlled anger.

Gary nodded imperceptibly to Lia. His eyes were hard, his face looked like it had been chiseled from stone. His voice if possible was even colder, deadlier. "Trust me. You don't want to play with her. You'll end up hurting really bad for a long, long time.... if your fortunate to recover that is.'' He tapped his combadge, "Taylor to Lalor, thought you would like to know we have our quarry. Request immediate transport back to the ship."

The badly beaten officer managed to croak out his name as they were beamed back. "Lieutenant Jackson Heilong."

=/\= Bridge=/\=

Phoenix acknowledged the transport of the officers to the Elysium and was about to move to the turbolift when a call from the Ops console stopped her. "Commander, We have an incoming vessel. Starfleet registry. Its the USS Hippocrates."

Phoenix frowned and turned to the viewer. "ETA?"

"Dropping from Warp now.." On the viewer was the largest hospital ship in the fleet. "Being hailed. Its Admiral Carter" Jaeih called out.

The commander crossed her arms and her frown deepened. "On Screen"

The screen split. The Aged Admiral appeared on the viewer. [[Commander Lalor.]]

"Admiral Carter. What a surprise." Phoenix said warily. She was getting rather tired of all the coincidences that were popping up on this mission.

[["Not really Commander. I thought you might need some support."]]

"A hospital ship sir?" She was not impressed.

[["Well it was the only one I could get on short notice. What is your status."]]

"Sir, I am rather content to inform you that the Commodore is dead. His body is in our morgue. I have our medical team doing their preliminary autopsy." She reported. She was not sure she wanted to announce the Lieutenant's presence in her medical bay with a very irate away team.

[["Dead? Commander the Admiralty wanted him alive!"]]

"Not my team's fault sir. He was dead on arrival." Phoenix straightened. "Someone got to him first. And Sir? I doubt he would have survived the transport back to earth. This ship has a number of people who wanted a piece of him rules be damned. But I can say with a clear conscious that not one of my people were involved with his death. We have three of his allies in our brig. You are welcome to them, once my team have finished with them."

Carter glared at the defiant young commander. He considered the image she portrayed. Young, in control, and willing to step over any line if it meant her crew was safe. [["I want your report on my desk in two hours Commander. And any prisoners you have."]]

Two hours. She knew that was not enough. "Very well. It may take longer though. I think the questions my team have will be very in depth. But we will endeavor to do our best."

[["See that you do commander."]] Carter cut the channel.

Phoenix turned to the bridge crew. "Secure from stations.v Inform Commander Taylor that he and Commander Holmes and their team have 2 hours to get what they need. I will be in my ready room."

=/\=Brig=/\=

Down in the brig Lia looked at the Lieutenant, she shook her head. She walked slowly towards the door stopping only to talk to Taylor, "You know what Commander, I'm gonna leave this one to you. He's all yours, enjoy. After the Vulcan, and the Commodore. I've had it with guessing games, if I go near him I'll kill him". She took a deep breath, "Sorry Commander, due respect. I wish to be excused from the questioning of the Lieutenant, do you object?" She waited for Taylor to answer.

Gary said nothing for several seconds, he just looked at her. He knew how she felt. Finally he nodded, "I understand Lia." His voice unusually soft."I have no objections. Why don't you go and get yourself a shower and a hot meal. The meal will do you good and the shower will allow you to wash the stench of this whole affair off you." He looked away for a moment before his gaze returned to her. "That's what I'm going to do when I'm through here."

Lia heard something in that voice, something which touched her. "Thanks, sorry thank you Commander. I will take your suggestion up, but possibly skipping the meal. I hate eating alone". She smiled as she passed him, then stopped and making sure she was unobserved blew him a kiss. "For luck", she whispered. Then she was gone, heading for her cabin and that shower.

He tapped his combadge, "Lieutenant Kopl-Johnson. This is Commander Taylor, meet me in the brig ASAP." He gave Lia a little smile. "Lets see how good our Intel Chief is."

She'd still been struggling to learn people and get a grip on the ships history. So when the Commanders order came through, she felt exposed. Not that that bothered her. She had a Target to engage, That was good.. The brig was barely a minute away. She saw a beat up male slumped in a cell. "You asked for me commander?" She said, keeping both males in her view, giving her usual curved profile, IT Never failed to work things up...

Gary looked at the Intel Chief and nodded imperceptibly. "I did. We have a suspect to question, so lets get to it." His mind focused on getting answers and having someone answer for those crimes.

Placing her data pad on the corner of the raised beds at the far end of the hydroponics bay, on a stand designed to hold such items in case reference was needed, Dyhei turned her attention to the plants contained within, from the top pocket of the dungire-style coverall over her staggered issue blue shirt she produced a small length of metal using it, prodding the soil around the base to check for moisture, then brushing her palms together over the box. A little too moist on one a little dry on another, the cental plants were just right, an adjustment in the direction of the water nozzles and maybe the frequency of the cycle.

Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here! - Joint post

A Mission Post by Senior Chief Petty Officer Ken Waters & Commander Phoenix Lalor & Miran Lalor Ms

Mission: Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here!

Location: Captain's Quarters

Timeline: MD 4 20h00

With the trauma of the Elysium's sabotage finally believed to be quelled -- at least for the time being -- Ken Waters wasted no time in tracking down the captain. A week earlier, and he would have forced himself to keep his distance at a time like this, to ensure that she had the breathing room she needed to deal with the administrative issues today's developments posed. But not this time. Phoenix had heard his reservations about imposing himself on her time, and she had shot them all down.

Exactly what he had wanted to hear. Exactly why he was standing outside the quarters she shared with her sister. He pressed the chime.

The door opened and Phoenix stood here, in her off duty clothes of jeans and tee shirt. She gave him a bright smile. "Hey!" She said brightly.

He himself had worn khakis and a black turtle-neck. The fact that they were both dressed casually made the two of them seem all the more divorced from their usual roles on the Elysium. He had meant to wait until he entered her quarters to display any hint of affection, but after hearing how she had been captured, and seeing her now alive and breathing, particularly without the ceremony of Starfleet uniforms --

He couldn't help himself. Without another thought Ken grabbed Phoenix, pulling her from the doorway, and he held her there in the corridor, crushing her to tightly him. "You scared the hell out of me!"

She rested her head on his shoulder and slid her arms around him. "It scared me too" she said softly. "Come inside." She said pulling back slightly.

"I was going to be mad at you for the rest of the day," he teased. He allowed her to drag him out from the corridor. "But this is nice, too."

"Well I agree that this is nice too" the door slid shut behind them. The cabin beyond the door was empty but for them, Miran having gone to a friends to study.

Phoenix slid her hands down his arms to link fingers. "I guess it is part of the job Ken. I am sorry you were worried."

"What happened?" He hesitated. "Or am I not supposed to ask about things like this?"

Phoenix considered her words. "Why don't you tell me what you have heard and I will confirm what I can?" She asked softly as they moved to the low couch.

Ken felt a chuckle escape him. "Oh, you'll love the story going around my deck. It turns out that once the attack began, our brave Captain pulled a phaser rifle out from under her command chair and ordered that she be beamed to the source of the first explosion. From there, she single-handedly took down every suspected member of the bombing. Turns out that she blasted through a path of bodies all the way back up to the bridge. She's still there now, actually, sitting in the center chair with that rifle across her lap. Set to kill."

Phoenix laughed and sat down. "Gee such a warrior isn't she?" she mocked. "Pity that I have to say that is not true at all and the only thing under my command chair is a couple of knives."

"Well, to be fair to the crew, I'm the one that started the rumor." He laughed then, backing away slightly and holding up both hands in defense. "Hey! Lately, I've been on the other side of the rumor mill. I've got to admit its much more fun making things up than overhearing them. Plus, this way any other troublemakers that might still be hiding know better than to mess with my girl."

"Yes well" Phoenix laughed "What have you really heard?"

"Honestly?" He breathed a sigh. "You're not going to like this. Apparently I'm a suspect. And Feyth. And...River. Somehow my whole clan managed to get wrapped up in this mess. You know that I had nothing to do with any of the mutiny efforts, of course?" It was seemingly a rhetorical question, but he waited for an answer from her nonetheless.

"And did the Chief of Security tell you why you are a suspect?" Phoenix asked. "And believe me, I know the three of you have nothing to do with it. Feyth and River seem to have the market cornered on Bad decisions though."

Ken rolled his eyes. "Tell me about it," he said. "Well, I suppose I may have sort of lost my temper in sickbay in front of security. But that damned reporter was following me around, poking at my personal life with a million questions, and then I found out that -- brace yourself -- it turns out that Feyth was -- I can't even say it." He closed his eyes, forced his next words out. "It turns out that Feyth was in a relationship with a Waters after all. It was River. And she's pregnant. Pregnant, Phoenix."

Nodding, Phoenix gently touched his cheek. "That is one problem they face Ken, there is the other of fraternization between a cadet and an enlisted but it is for another day. I take it you have not spoken with either of them about this?"

"No. Prophets no. To be honest I don't want to talk to either of them. I'm glad Feyth is going to be okay, of course, but right now I don't want to hear from them, I don't want to see them, I don't even want to think about them," he said. "I've got more important things on my mind."

"ok. Like what?" she asked softly. She would not interfere in his family life.

He took her hands in his. He brought her fingers up to his lips. Kissed them. Lingering. He look up into her eyes. "You, Penelope."

He was one of two people who used that name. She smiled softly. "Hmm well that's nice to be important in your mind kind sir." She said softly.

Phoenix stretched up and kissed him gently. "I know you have nothing to do with the issues on this ship. Do not worry that Holmes will be here knocking down the door to arrest you."

He made a point of looking around Phoenix's quarters. "It might be a good idea, for my own safety, to lay low here for a while. Just until Commander Holmes loses my trail. Or you could escort me back to mine? I promise to keep my hands to myself." He gave her a wicked grin.

"here is fine" she laughed "And I don't mind your hands remember"

"Thank the Prophets, because I was lying." And with that, he pounced on her, playfully pinning her down onto the couch beneath him. He brushed his nose against hers, brushed his lips against hers. He lifted his head, studied the delicate features of her. Her hair. Her cheekbones. Her eyes. Her lips.

With all of the inner turmoil aboard the Elysium in the last year, he couldn't ignore the notion that time was precious. That moments like these weren't guaranteed to come again. "You are the most incredible woman I've ever known, Phoenix Lalor. You really don't know how amazing you are."

"Hmm no but I do not mind you telling me what you think handsome." she whispered. She shifted so they were comfortable with him pinning her to the couch.

"I think --" he began, and he pressed his lips against her neck "-- that I need --" he kissed his way gently down her throat "-- to show you --" he lifted her shirt so that he could continue down her stomach "-- exactly how glad I am --" his fingers worked at undoing her jeans --

-- and the doors to Phoenix's quarters suddenly hissed open.

"oh! EWW EWW EWW!" the disgusted tones of a 14 year old girl echoed through the cabin. "By the Six can't you two get a room?!?! Oh I need eyebleach!!!"

Phoenix rolled her eyes and her lips twitched with mirth. "Remind me of this when she starts dating." she said softly as she looked over Ken's shoulder to her sister who was standing there a hand over her eyes. "Go away Jhori Shyraes" she said using their native tongue for little sister.

"I live here too you know!" Came the reply.

Ken had since bolted up from Phoenix and was now sitting rigidly next to her, his hands very precisely set on his lap. He cleared his throat. "Well, Miran, I've gone through just about every excuse I can think of in my own head for what you just saw," he said with a note of embarrassed formality. "Wouldn't you know, this is pretty much the one situation where I've got nothing! So...I'm just going to apologize for permanently scarring you and..." He looked over at Phoenix. "I should probably...go?"

"oh no." Phoenix replied firmly shaking her head. "Only hours ago she was poking her nose into our business concerning our relationship, she gets what she deserves." Phoenix sat up and looked at Miran. "I thought you were not due home for hours."

The 14 year old gave them both a look. "I changed my mind." she said loftily. "Allowed to right sister?"

"oh you do not take that tone Miran Trinity Lalor, not with me." Phoenix stood. "Ken and I are adults and we are allowed to have a relationship. Which we do have. You are allowed to change your mind, what you are not allowed to do is look down your nose. You are 14, I am 25. And that means I get to do things without your permission. Now, you are welcome to stay for dinner with Ken and I or you can go to your friends cabin. Your choice."

The 14 year old sniffed and stalked off to the second level to her room saying "I will eat in my room!"

When she was out of sight, Phoenix sighed. "Teenagers!"

Ken's head was buried in his hands. And he was laughing. He lifted his head up, looked over at her. "I'm sorry," he said between laughs. "Kids are really something else. And she's certainly full of spirit. I don't know how you do it. I honestly don't know if I ever could." He gave a look towards Miran's room. "If anything, I think I'm doing a pretty good job at showing you how out of my depth I can be with her sometimes."

Phoenix flopped back down onto the couch beside him with a sigh. "I think I get through it by telling myself she has never had such freedom before. No Nanny chaperoning her, no maids watching and tattling on her. It's a difference for her. But she has been off Erisia for a year now. She is a pretty reasonable kid. Most of the time."

Ken nodded. "She's a good kid. Especially considering the life she's had." He hesitated a moment. "Do you...do you ever wonder if you'll want to go all in on that someday? Kids, I mean."

Phoenix shrugged. "I am not sure. Maybe one day. As long as I can be sure they wont have to go back to my home planet."

"Can they do that? Can they force any of you to return?"

"Legally not at this time. But should they get an extradition treaty with the Federation and they can make charges stick.... maybe." Phoenix replied.

Ken was surprised to find how angry those words made him. The notion of anyone thinking they held some sort of ownership claim over the woman he so deeply cared for, his girlfriend, was absolutely despicable to him. "Unbelievable. Why can't your people just leave you alone? Why can't they just let you be free and happy? It's not like you're causing THEM any problems for Prophet's sake!"

Smiling Phoenix gently touched his face. "You do not understand fully, let me see if I can explain. On Erisa, a female, is considered property. Their Father's and then their husbands. Women who exist outside this are considered well worse than dirt. While I have never been convicted of a crime on Erisa, I am not considered a role model to young females on the planet. I took the blame for my brother's actions when I was young and foolish. I am considered there, someone to be looked down on, ignored. But I am the eldest of 4 children. My twin brother is younger than me, legally he is the heir but any man I married could fight for the throne. Hence why they would want to discredit me in anyway they can." She slipped onto his lap and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "I know they watch my career in Starfleet. Insurgents who want the life the federation has, use my position to strengthen their calls for change. Being the first Erisan female to leave the planet un-escorted, to live unchaperoned, to basically be who they want to be, is a big thing for those women and girls who want the same thing. That is why they will try anything. I know there is bounty on my head for 'kidnapping' that teenager upstairs, though why my father would want such a moody kid back i have no idea" she added with a wry smile. "It is a charge they can make stick, despite it being so far from the truth."

Ken shook his head at the absolute enormity of what she told him. He could barely comprehend all of the things she had been through in her life, all of the trials that she had to overcome; and now here she was: commanding a Federation Starship of her own. It was hard to hear a story like this, and accept the protests from the people in his life that complained about never getting a fair chance of their own. You make your own chances -- to hell with whether life dealt you a fair hand or not. Phoenix was living proof of that. He nuzzled his nose into her hair, once again breathing in the wonderful flowery scent of her. "You ever think about going back there someday? Start a revolution or two? I know a couple of people who are good at that sort of thing."

"Why would i go back? I have the life I want here. Better than being cloistered, and whipped for the slightest discretion. I know the man my parents had wanted me to marry never would have, but there are men, a lot of men, my father included, who would punish women for the slightest thing. I prefer the federation believe me."

Secretly, these were exactly the kinds of answers that Ken wanted to hear. It wasn't that he wanted her to feel stranded and cut off from her home, but he liked the notion that this relationship between the two of them might have a real chance of surviving. At least for now, there certainly seemed to be no threat of her cutting ties with Starfleet and going back to this other man to whom she had once been promised. Perhaps it was stupid for him to feel jealous. But he did.

Still, her world was a part of her, a part of who she was. He took her hand. "Take me there someday. To your Erisia," he said. He grinned. "Via holodeck, of course. I don't doubt your father would be too pleased about me, either."

She laughed. "Probably not. But then he has no say over what I do, who I see and the like."

He joined in as well. "I suppose between the two of us, we're going to have rather modest dinners at the big family gatherings," he said. "I suppose it'll always just be the four of us. Speaking of which --" He tossed a look upstairs "-- think we should ask her to join us for supper?"

Phoenix nodded and kissed his cheek. "We probably should."

"And as an added bit of fun, let's see if we can make it through the whole thing without another ship-wide emergency."

Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here! - Comfortable Contemplation

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Dyhei Liducca & Lieutenant Commander Liselle Qwyyn

Mission: Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here!

Location: Officers Lounge

Timeline: MD4 - 20h00

Into one of the corner booths that the officers lounge sported, Dyhei stretched for one of the cups on the table in front of her not quite being able to reach she let out a disgruntled squeak shifted herself around to grab the cup before settling back, a hand now firmly hooked around the mug enjoying the warmth that spread from it. The second cup was perhaps a little presumptuous, but she had arranged to meet a friend and she meant it more as a suggestion than a must. The friend in question was Liselle Qwyyn, after their rather impromptu chat yesterday, Dyhei always intended to catch up with her the following day.

What a day.

From the violent and disruptive extra early start, through the twists and turns of the investigations that followed, the frustration and annoyance that entailed. It was now late evening and a chat was more than needed.

Her aim for the evening was to be comfortable, from the well chosen booth to the mugs of tea, though to her clothing she sported a fleece hooded sweat top, one that was at least three times larger than her regular size, teamed with baggy knee length pants of the same material, as well as flat shoes which by this point had been kicked off and lay somewhere under the table.

"I'm so sorry I'm late," Liselle said suddenly from behind Dyhei. Like her, the Trill had dressed for comfort. Qwyyn was wearing grey sweat pants and an over-sized sweater with sleeves that fell down to her fingertips.

"It's quite alright." Dyhei responded with a kindly smile, as she twisted her upper half to face her arriving friend, gesturing to the ample space next to her she added. "You take a seat now, it's an almost guaranteed comfy spot."

Qwyyn found a seat next to her friend. "To be honest, I showed up a little earlier and realized I had over dressed a bit." She winced. "Okay, over dressed a lot. So I ran back to my quarters to change. I'm weird. Remember I warned you about that?"

"I think I recall you mentioned it oncertainly or twice." Dyhei responded still with a smile and a little humor in her voice but, making a mental note to be a little more specific when arranging meet ups, "I don't know if you take hot drinks but I ordered and extra one, Bolian Tea with a dash of Bergamot, which is earth spice I think." She offered, gesturing to the cup one the table with her own mug.

Liselle took the mug, careful to grasp it exclusively by its handle. She tentatively held it up to her nose, letting the steam swirl about her face so that she could breathe it in. The fragrance was certainly lovely, citrus-like. She braved a small sip. Her eyes went wide. "Oh my!" she gasped. "Dyhei, this is absolutely wonderful!" She couldn't help but go in for another drink, deeper this time. "Ouch! Okay, that is still hot!" The Trill touched her slightly scorched lip. She set the mug back on the table. "You know, I can't remember the last time I had something so...soothing. Well, outside of Erisian wine. In fact this sort of reminds of that. You haven't tried it before by any chance?"

Dyhei watched with a sense of satisfaction at the positive reaction to the soothing beverage. "I haven't tried that particular tipple, but it nice to see there's a positive comparison." Dyhei responded with a slight head shake, which was unintentionally a little awkward.

Already, Qwyyn found herself reaching for the mug again. The ritual of holding, and smell, and taste were gladly performed once again. Her smile belied her utter contentment. "You know, I was thinking about the first time we met and how I went on and on about myself. And on. And on. I never gave you the chance to tell me about yourself. You mentioned that you come from a background in Stellar Cartography? "

"That's right." Dyhei responded brightly at the mention of her favored subject. "It's a field I've been involved in since I started out in Starfleet, but the stars and what's out there has always held a sense of wonder and fascination, it's my first love if thats not to strong that started way back....." She explained with a sense of glee in her voice carrying though to her free arm gesturing out and upwards as she spoke. " in fact I could probably tell you the exact moment it all began, do you want to hear it?"

Qwyyn went for the mug again. Inhale. Sip. Smile. "I'd love to."

"Well it all started when I was about, eight, part of our education involved a trip to what we all imaginatively called. Telescope Ridge. Which was a Ridge about a mile and a half from the edge of settlement, with telescopes set up." The Hybrid continued, recalling a happy moment from her life. "That hour or so had me hooked, I joined the astronomy club, and that was the start really."

"What a beautiful memory," The Trill said. "And why Starfleet? The opportunity for exploration?"

"Yeah. As it happened our star acted up a bit, enough to catch attention and have us a few visits from Starfleet. I was early teens by this point and a bit eager, first in line to help out. That seemed to get me the right kind of attention, when my standard scrolling finished, I had enough pointers and help to get my foot in the door with the Academy.............the rest is.....well the rest." Dyhei explained, in between a few pauses for drink sips, she too was savoring the beverage, it had been a while since she went in to detail about how she got her start in the fleet. It felt good to make that conection again. "It not all been plane sailing, as they saying goes. There's been a few bumps in the road. But more that enough wonder to keep me here. Despite current shenanigans, by god-complex-types, you know?"

"Do I ever," Qwyyn agreed. "You know, I've actually been thinking about getting out of Starfleet. I joined up to see the galaxy, to explore, to broaden my horizons with this host. Lately, it seems like every day I'm just worried about keeping myself and the people I love alive. I'm starting to worry that I just might not be cut out for this anymore." She shrugged, despite herself. "Who knows. Maybe it's just a phase. It's probably just a phase."

"Probably. But I know where your coming from, I don't think the current climate is what we anticipated when we joined up, or maybe some did or maybe with ambitions of leading and this is where they've ended up, that is perhaps a more chilling thought." She shivered involuntary at that comment and responded by going for a sip of tea, a slow deliberate motion only this time she kept the cup and cradled it between hands covered by the sleeve ends of her sweat top. "Is your pondering affected how things went on the planet? Was it as you expected, or not?" She asked carefully.

"Not." She laughed. "When we first beamed down, I thought I'd be intensely focused on finding the Commodore and, well, beating the crap out of him. Instead, I got wrapped up in a ruse we were playing to help us conduct our search. Do you know Chief Engineer Grronkil?"

"The Wolf man who's running the engine room, yeah we've crossed paths once or twice so far. Seems like a reasonable person." She responded, curiose as to where this was going.

"Keep a secret?"

"Of course."

"Well," Qwyyn continued, and she lowered her voice, leaning in closer to Dyhei, "the two of us posed as a couple to mix in with the other vacationers on Risa. But the next thing I know, I realize that I'm actually really enjoying it. I'm on the surface conducting the search and I'm focusing on this fake relationship the two of us are in. Now that it's over, I find myself...missing it. Missing that feeling. Just the idea of being in a couple, I mean. To belong to someone in that way. Maybe I want that. I don't know. Maybe I just liked the escapism from the day to day insanity around here."

Dyhei put her drink on the table and moved a little closer, she smiled warmly and knowingly as Liselle began to explain both what took place and the feelings it left her with, it stired up memories of time she spent with her partner and those first encounters, her smile broadend as she reacted. "Well, well, out of the tense events come the sweetest things, it seems" Dyhei paused and then decided to give her friend a verbal nudge. "Your right it could be either. But the best way to find out, is to see the person again, maybe in a more social setting."

"Oh, Gods no." Qwyyn nearly shuddered. "I'm terrible in situations like that. Absolutely the worst. If there's one thing in this universe that will ensure I stay single for the rest of my life, it's my social skills. The Counselors have helped, but not THAT much," she said, enjoying a small laugh at her own expense. She picked up her drink again. Her eyes darted to either side as she sipped. She lowered the mug down to the table again. "Maybe...you...could help me figure out if there's anything going on?" she asked cautiously. "With so many new senior staff aboard, I feel like I have a chance for something of a fresh start. I don't trust myself not to throw that chance away." She looked at Dyhei directly now. "What do you say? I can be a second pair of eyes for your science problems, and you can be a second pair of eyes for...my problems?"

"I say you have yourself a bargain." Said with a warm smile that had remained while Dyhei listened, trying to identify with some of her feelings, wanting just to be of some support, responding to the direct look by doing the same give Liselle her full attention also agreeing with the earlier statement . "I think your right we have such a diverse and varied staff, the potential is......exciting. Leave it with me, I will discreetly feel out certain persons, you can go from there" She leaned sideways now against the padded backrest.

Liselle felt her cheeks grow red. "To be clear, I'm not looking for a matchmaker. More of a...warning system. So that I don't make a complete and utter fool of myself," she said. "Normally I would have asked Phoenix to help me with something like this. But now that she's serving as ship's Captain, it hardly seems appropriate." The Trill drained the last of her mug, the last mouthful cold and spiced with all of the flavor that had gathered at its bottom. "And what about you? Anyone on board catching your eye? Or...?"

Wow I read that wrong didn't I." Dyhei responded with a giggle at her own error that caused a noticeable response, then nodded in acceptance of be request, although being the other side felt odd. "Of course I'll try, although it's normally me being checked in rather than doing the checking. Time to grow i guess." She admitted, picking up a little more about the relationship that existed between Liselle and Phoenix and the changes that was going though, it always fascinated her the way changes in circumstances had an effect on interactions of persons affected. This was stalled by the question of her possible interest in persons on the ship, her turn to go pensive and colour, although with her complexion it was a little less obvious. "I don't know about catching my eye, but there are a few who are intriguing. Our Gorn doctor for one, I've been brushing up on my medic certification, as such spent a bit of time with him and there's more to him, quite a deep story I would guess. Then perhaps a little predictably a marine Sergeant, but because he didn't shoo me out of an area that was a little dicey, he let do my thing and get a few scans that proved useful in the grand scheme of things. That being said it's not an unfamiliar road for me to know what I need, and perhaps more importantly what I don't need." She explained carefully, it felt like the window to her past was being eased open, and maybe now it was the right time to look back, leaning up she reached for the cup now cold to the touch. "I'm wanting a refill, you?"

Qwyyn's relieved laughter spoke volumes. "Gods, I thought you'd never ask!"

Stratford hing to the other, Dyhei slid both cups across the table as she scooted out of the booth. "Be right back, but be ready for another taste journey." As she crossed delicately, with a slight skip in her step, to the replicators, returning she placed two fresh steaming mugs on the table. "Bajoran Deka Tea, on its own this time.I find details it tends to be quite woody but with a warmth that seeps through your insides, see what you think."

Liselle took the cup cautiously. A cautious sniff. A cautious sip. Her head fell back, the whites of her eyes hardly visible beneath fluttering eyelids. "Oh my," she breathed. She put a hand over her heart. "I don't think I need a man in my life anymore. Dyhei, you have to promise me that we will never stop getting together to do this. Ever."

Dyhei flashed a quick smile before she took as large as draft of the drink as it's temperature would allow, then settled against the backrest, a warm smile gracing her features. "I think we'll be doing this for some time to come, tea and talk, what more could we need."

Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here! - A Test of Feyth

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Commander Tate Sullivan Ph.D. & Lieutenant Sthilg & Chief Petty Officer Feyth Railli

Mission: Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here!

Location: Tate's Office / Sickbay

Timeline: MD 3

Chief Petty Officer Feyth Railli stood outside the door to the counseling offices. She squeezed her hands into fists. Then opened them again.

Then clenched them again.

And opened.

She took a breath. The Captain had strongly suggested she get to the bottom of this pregnancy question. And of course, she was right. Perhaps Feyth had just needed to hear someone else tell her to do it. Her hands closed into fists again and the Bajoran stepped into the offices, making her way immediately to a secretary at a nearby desk.

"Excuse me," Feyth said. "I don't have an appointment, but I need a counselor's assistance. Like now. Please."

The human female was about to politely tell the young woman behind the female voice to make an appointment, but when she looked up, she saw the desperation in the other woman's eyes. She hadn't been in her position long, and she had seen a lot of traumatized faces in the short time she had been the front desk face of the department, so she had learned how to triage situations under fire. "I'll see if I can get in touch with Counselor Sullivan," she replied gently.

Tate pressed the button to activate the private department communications line, and after hearing with her assistant had to say, she offered, "Send her in, please. It's all right. Crisis situations weren't exactly unique since she had boarded. As a matter of fact, it seemed that was all she was doing.

Feyth stepped into the Counselor's office, again feeling a knot of doubt in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know if she would be able to go through with this. Well, at least she knew she couldn't do it alone. But that was exactly why she was here. "I'm sorry to bother you, Counselor," the Bajoran forced herself to say. "But I didn't really know what else to do. I'm kind of without a real support network at the moment, and they always tell us to come here in a situation like that."

Those words certainly got her attention and Tate stood, so she could gently usher the other woman into her office. "It's no bother at all," Sullivan assured. "I'm glad you felt comfortable coming here instead of isolating yourself. I'm glad to know someone actually listens to those lectures," Sullivan added with a smile. "Please, make yourself comfortable. May I get you something from the replicator?"

"No, I'm fine. Thanks." She sat on the nearby couch placing her hands on her lap. After revealing her secret to Phoenix Lalor -- a woman she had always considered to be a bitter rival -- telling a counselor who was interested in helping her wouldn't be nearly so hard. "I think I might be pregnant. And I'm not sure I...want to be. And I'm not sure how to tell the potential father. Or the potential father's older brother, for that matter. I have no idea what to do, or where to even start."

Her words were direct, but there was an underlying vulnerability that stirred Tate emotionally, and Sullivan found herself sitting across from Feyth, leaning forward to close the distance between them and to offer some degree of comfort and genuine interest. She didn't know the other woman well enough yet to offer any sort of comforting touch, but the counselor could tell she was apprehensive and genuinely confused. "A potential unexpected pregnancy can be overwhelming and create a lot of conflicted feelings," Sullivan offered with a gentle nod. "How long have you been worried about being pregnant and how sure are you that that's what's going on?" The counselor asked gently.

Feyth felt her eyes begin to burn again at Tate's sympathetic tone. She squeezed her eyelids shut in an effort to stave the tears off, but that only helped them come. The Bajoran blew out a shaking breath. "Well, I can't stop crying. Constantly." She managed a small, self-deprecating smile despite her renewed embarrassment. "I've never been one to cry. Not ever," she said. "Aside from that, I was pretty sure that this was from that flu that was going around the starbase. But it's been a few weeks, and with the symptoms I've had -- the fatigue, the emotions, being late..." her list trailed off. She bit her top lip as she considered her own words. "With my first pregnancy I couldn't stop sneezing, but that hasn't happened once. Not even once. So maybe this is just the flu? I know I should find out for sure, but I don't know what I would do if turns out that..."

"If it turns out?" Sullivan prompted gently. Tate was beginning to wonder if the other woman's anxiety had to do with more than just the possibility of being pregnant. There was more she hadn't said, obviously, and Sullivan didn't want to presume anything, but at the same time, she knew she would have to consider all possibilities.

The Bajoran bit her cheek. "I don't even know where to begin," she said. And with those words, she began. "I was born and raised on a Bajoran colony world, Caradall. Most people have never heard of it, but it was one of the many border worlds handed over to Cardassian control after the signing of the first Federation/Cardassian border treaty. The Cardassians came without hesitation, and they conquered," she said. She took in a heavy breath. And she let it out slowly. "I was brought into a prison camp. It was...horrible. The things that they did to us would make you -- " she held up a hand, closed her eyes, cutting herself off from exploring the memory. She opened her eyes again. "Ken was just another kid in the human families stationed there for humanitarian aid. His parents were killed. Ken joined the rebellion soon after. When he found me, he saved me, he took care of me. He took care of a lot of us. But his adopted brother, River, didn't have the stomach for fighting. He fled to Starfleet at the very first opportunity. And Ken never forgave him for it. Never." Feyth looked at Tate directly. "So you see, I can't be pregnant after one stupid mistake with River. Because if I am, Ken will never forgive me. Believe me."

Sullivan listened carefully, taking note of her history of trauma as well as the unspoken relationships between the two men she spoke of. Sullivan needed to understand the nature of these relationships better, but for now, she needed clarity on a specific and nagging issue. "Forgive me for asking, but under the circumstances, I feel the need to seek some clarity given your anxiety and choice of words. Was the sexual encounter between you and River consensual?" The counselor knew it was important not to assume things and labeling something a stupid mistake, particularly a sexual encounter, didn't necessarily mean it was a reference to a voluntary choice.

"We were drinking a lot. Feeling sorry for ourselves. A lot. But, yes, it was consensual. I may regret what I did, but at the time I thought it was what I wanted."

Something about Feyth's answer didn't entirely put her at ease, not because she doubted her perceptions but because large quantities of alcohol could make issues of consent a bit murky at times. It also occurred to her the man Feyth was speaking of could be a Cadet, though Tate had read so many personnel files, she now couldn't be sure. Technically, if he was a Cadet, he outranked her as he was a member of the Officer track. That said, one could argue as the more professionally experienced person, she should have behaved more professionally. Either way Tate looked at it, there was still an imbalance between them, with the more powerful person varying depending on one's point of view. Even so, there was also a potential pregnancy in the balance, and whatever Feyth should or shouldn't have done, she was no less deserving of support now.

"Drinking to excess and intense emotions can make for a complicated situation," Sullivan agreed. She wanted to inquire of the man's rank, as the names were ringing certain bells uneasily, but she had no logical reason to inquire and she didn't want Feyth to doubt Tate as an ally. "I know the possibilities are paralyzing you right now given the larger potential implications for your future and relationships, but I think the more immediate concern is your health. If you are pregnant, we need to make sure you're being taken care of as much as any potential baby. Surely, whatever either of these men think of you, they would never want your anxiety about this to jeopardize your health, right? I can go with you if you like. Whatever the results, you don't have to face them alone, and no matter what the results are, we can meet right back in my office and discuss your options for as long as you need."

Sullivan still wasn't sure she knew all of the relevant facts and that she was comfortable with the circumstances of this potential conception, but she knew she was aware of the pertinent facts for now. This young woman was scared and confused and she needed someone to be by her side.

Feyth bit her lip and nodded. "You're right. I can't go on like this anymore. I can't keep not knowing," she said. Her hand went subconsciously to her abdomen. "Until I learn for certain where I stand, I feel like my mind is going to stay stuck in this fog that it's in. I can't think clearly about anything anymore. Maybe if I can just get past 'finding out,' then maybe I can start making a plan about what to do. Maybe I can figure out how to deal with everything else in my life that's going on right now."

Sickbay

********

With Counselor Sullivan by her side, Feyth Railli stepped into Sickbay. A passing nurse stopped as he noticed the two of them. "Anything I can do for you? Everything okay?" he asked cheerfully.

Feyth opened her mouth to respond, but found herself stumbling over her words. "The Doctor. Is it possible to see him? I need to see him."

The gorn who wasn't that far off finishing off some paperwork on another patient and he smiled and walked over. " Hello, Feyth are you feeling alright?" He asked politely.

The Bajoran swallowed. "Doctor, I'm sorry to bother you, but I need to find out...something..." She looked to Tate to take over any explanations. Just standing in this room, waiting to face the reality of what may or not be about to happen, was nearly more than she could handle at the moment.

Aware they weren't in an entirely private space at the moment, Tate offered "Feyth hasn't been feeling well of late and would like a scan to rule out certain possibilities. Perhaps we could head to an exam room to speak more privately?"

" Of course. This way." The doctor said as he lead the way to one of the empty rooms. After closing the door the gorn turned to the two. " Ssso Feyth what can the doctor do for you." He said in a warm and understanding tone.

She spent an inordinate amount of time studying the decor of the office before she managed an answer. "I need to know if I'm pregnant," she said finally. "I'm sorry, I know that I don't need the CMO himself to tell me, but if I am I need to know what my options are..."

" Off cource. Have a ssseat. " The gron said as he indicated her to sit on the rooms biobed as he walked to the computer at the end " Thisss ssshould't take a moment. "

Feyth pulled herself up onto the bed, sitting with her legs hanging over the edge. She was surprised to find that she was holding Sullivan's hand. She hand't remembered taking it. The Bajoran flashed the Counselor a look. "Nothing to do now but wait, I guess," she said, forcing some semblance of joviality into her voice.

Tate gave Feyth's hand a gentle squeeze and she offered a smile of encouragement, genuinely gratified to be in a position to support the other woman in such a big moment.

With a beep the gorn looked up from the computer. He tried resisting, but couldn't stop himself smiling. " Well, i can confirm your ssseveral weeks pregnant. I take it this wasn't planned?" He asked politely his alien voice still having a tonne of concern.

The counselor's features remained neutral as the doctor confirmed what they both had already suspected. Keeping hold of Feyth's hand and moving her thumb over it back and forth in a gentle motion, Tate knew it was better to allow Feyth to answer the doctor's questions herself, but she wanted the young woman to also know she wasn't alone.

Feyth exchanged a brief look with Tate. Several weeks! In Bajoran terms that was quite far along already! Four months from now and she would be -- No. She pushed the thought out of her mind. Instead, she focused her attention on the doctor. She squeezed the Counselor's hand tightly in her own, even as she found herself unable to look at the Gorn. "Um, no. Not planned. Certainly not. Not at all." She breathed a heavy sigh. "Doctor, can you tell me a little bit about what my...options...are...at this point?"

" You have three optionsss. First I can arrange an abortion to terminate the pregnancy. Other than that you are perfectly healthy and could easily maintain a pregnancy. You could keep the child or give it away." The gorn said giving the options as politely and clearly as he could. " Doesss the father know about thisss?" He asked politely.

"No," Feyth said. "I'll tell him. I promise. And then...then...I'll decide what needs to be done."

" If you need any help pleassse call me at once." The gorn said as calmly and friendly as he could.

"You don't have to do this alone," Tate reminded Feyth. She turned to the doctor and smiled. "Thank you, Doctor."

Distress

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Liam Vir

Mission: Episode 0: History Speaks

Location: Wolf 359

Timeline: 2367, 3 days after the battle

Silence.

Liam was sitting alone in what should have been a three-person escape pod. His breathing was slow and deep, the temperature was below room temperature, and the lights were dim, as if he thought it would help conserve his limited life support supplies. He hadn't slept well at all, as just closing his eyes brought back the images of yesterday. Fire. Hull damage. Bodies. How does one mange to take all of that in less then thirty minutes? He'd only been the USS Yamaguchi for a few months, fresh out of his enlisted training. And now...this. She was gone, and most of her crew with her. Snuffed out like candles in a gale of wind.

He'd spent all of yesterday day finding who he could from other survivors. Assorted shuttles, emergency launches and escape pods were forming chains to increase the distress calls range. They were a motley bunch from over half of the thirty-nine ships that had formed under Admiral Hansen. All of them had one thing in common; they were scared and worried about what was to come next. Was this one Borg ship now decimating the Federations home worlds? Someone had picked up a Galaxy class by herself a few hours after this tragedy, but she'd warped past before searching for survivors. There still were other ships racing back to sector 001, so maybe there was still hope. The uncertainty was what compounded the loss even more.

Liam shook his head, fighting off some dark pull that came from the quiet. He moved towards the small console that was his lifeline to whatever was outside and pulled up a sensor display. There wasn't much to track. Five lifeboats and a shuttle made up this part of the chain, surrounded by wreckage and leftover radiation from so much destruction. The distress signal was still going, but it was only good for half a light-year at best. Communications between the survivors was kept to minimum in order to keep the outgoing distress call clear.

Turning the display over to the very crude computer in the pod, the young transporter tech turned on a song called Unfinished Symphony. He couldn't let himself give into despair. Music usually gave him some respite, and he was glad for it. He tried again to close his eyes as the strings, brass and woodwinds filled the small space. But the images...no. Not again.

Clenching his fists, Liam gave a gulp. How many more days could he take of this? The supplies could be stretched for over a month, and if they needed to go to sublight, they could. But there wasn't a point. Rescue would come here first. Right? The music eventually came to an end. He was considering putting on more songs when the console flared back to life on its own.

"Please...in...this is...USS Const...to any..."

Liam nearly stumbled in his seat. The cabin was now being filled with pleads from every small group of survivors, until they were calmed by one of the few surviving senior officers. By that time he'd managed to home in on the new signal.

"Again, this is the USS Constantine, to any surviving crews. We have you on our sensors. Shuttles are outbound and will form up for transport and tow at coordinates..."

The rest of the transmission didn't register in the El-Aurian's head, as he brought up the sensor link again. A new transponder ping showed an Excelsior class starship, hanging outside of starship graveyard, and what seemed like two more unknowns to her aft, closing in. Rescue. He cupped his face into his hands and began to sob. But he didn't quite know if it was for joy, or for grief. Hell, it didn't matter.

At least now he could get some answers as to what happened, and more importantly, what to do next. He wasn't going to miss the silence.

Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here! - A trip down a gorns memory lane

A Mission Post by Lieutenant Sthilg & Lieutenant Commander Liselle Qwyyn

Mission: Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here!

Location: CMO's Quarters

Timeline: MD 4 - 16h00

Liselle Qwyyn slowed her pace as she came to the doors outside of the Chief Medical Officer's quarters. She adjusted her uniform slightly. At first she had thought to approach the Doctor in casual dress, but she wasn't certain if he would find such informality during an unexpected visit to be wholly inappropriate. She didn't know a great deal about the Gorn, not many people did. She decided she wanted to learn about his people from him, rather than read up on whatever lingering and outdated stereotypes might exist in the ship's computer.

She turned to his doors and pressed the chime.

" Come in." Came the reply as the trill stepped into what could only be described as a peculiarity. Old books stood in several odd piles alongside many different items of many different cultures and uses. The gorn was in the middle of putting some books on a bookcase that reached the ceiling as he turned smilling.

" Hello there Liselle. Apologissse for the messss i've not had much time to unpack." The gorn said as he placed the last book on the shelf.

"Hello, Doctor." Qwyyn nodded at Sthlig. She craned her neck back to take in the skyscraper of literature. "A fan of physical media, I see. It's been a long time since I've come across anyone who honors the old ways of sharing knowledge. Is this common Gorn custom?"

The gorn laughed slightly before responding. " Oh no, my dear my people are rather backwards in that area. I picked up thisss habit in the Klingon Empire if you can believe it." The gorn said pointing to a rather old large photo. A rather younger gorn stood to the side of a large group of Klingons his arms around an orion woman wearing a dark blue dress.

Liselle felt like she could lose herself in the woman's eyes. Truly, she had to give her head a small shake to pull herself from the photo and come back into the present moment. "Gods, she's absolutely stunning," Qwyyn said. "Is she an old flame?" The Trill was quick to hold up an apologetic hand to the Doctor as soon as the words left her lips. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't pry."

" It'sss okay. Her name was Jinalli. I rescued her from an Orion sssmugglersss ssship that made the missstake of wandering into the Klingon Empire. Ssshe had a love for music and poetry and we ssspend many happy yearsss together." The gorn replied happily showing through his voice that he meant it. " I missss her. Ssshe didn't dessserve what happened to her."

Qwyyn knew she shouldn't ask, that she shouldn't press any further. But she couldn't help herself. She was the woman she was, for better or worse. In a hushed voice she heard herself ask, "What happened?"

" Ssshe died during childbirth. Ssshe lossst to much blood and we could't revive her. We lost the baby as well. Ssshe jussst wouldn't ssstart breathing." The gorn replied the tone showing the pain he still carried. " The drugsss for crossss species conception were beyond primitive. We ssshould have never have tried, but ssshe wanted to hold a child of usss in her arms."

As they looked up at the picture, Liselle delicately placed cool fingers against his arm. She knew that some of his body was made up of biotic replacements. She wasn't sure if he could feel her touch, but she hoped that the sentiment of empathy came through. "She had to try," Liselle said. "Jinalli loved you. More than anything." Of course Qwyyn didn't 'know' the woman, but deep inside she could identify with her, put herself in her shoes. "It's only when you love someone that much, that you feel the inexplicable need to take such a risk," she said. She took her fingers from him. Blinked. Remembered herself. "I'm sorry. I've intruded so much more than I have any right to. I shouldn't have come here without contacting you first."

" You haven't intruded Lissselle. People alwaysss find out eventually. I don't hide from my past and I don't mind people learning more about it." The gorn said warmly reaching out slowly to take the trills hands.

Liselle's eyes shimmered, threatening tears. She had surprised even herself with how attached she had become to the Gorn's story. She never ceased to be amazed at what lie beneath the seemingly threatening surface of some of the people she had met. She told Sthilg as much. "You're not at all what I expected. I'll admit that when I first walked into sickbay, I assumed you were someone as likely to cause injury as cure it. But now --" she gave his hands a small squeeze "--now I see that you have a gentle soul, Doctor."

" No need for apologies Liselle. Oh, I can cause injury when my friends and family are threatened. Though I do prefer keeping them healthy. " The Gorn replied grinning as he pulled the trill towards him and gave her a warm hug.

She wrapped her arms around him. After a few seconds, her mind told her that social norms dictated that it was time to let go. But after the events of the last year, after all the time spent suffering alone, the time spent not sleeping, the time spent worrying... she decided to hold on just a little longer. Physical contact felt good. She knew that a hug allowed to linger would produce a rush of endorphins and she welcomed the feeling. "I promise I'll let go soon," she said with self-aware humor.

" Take asss long asss you need." The gorn said softly knowing she'd been through a lot.

When she finally did let him go, she couldn't help but feel more than a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Doctor. I don't know what came over me," she said in a small voice. "If it helps, I assure you that I hadn't planned to intrude so much. I was actually going to ask if this would be a good time to begin our official research project on the work you and Ian have done in healing my symbiont."

" No need to appolgissse. Before we ssstart would you like a drink. " The gorn said moving a box off his sofa to allow the trill to sit.

Her grin could not have been wider, belying the intense relief she felt that she hadn't scared the doctor away with her odd behavior. She was still getting to know the new senior staff that had come aboard the Elysium, and she was determined to make a better impression with her colleagues this time around. Qwyyn carefully lowered herself onto the couch, her hands on her knees. "I would kill for a drink right now," she said. "I don't suppose there is anything from Gorn cuisine that you could recommend? In the interest of learning more about your people, of course."

" There is a berry drink, but it's very bitter. Computer can you recommend any gorn drinksss that would be sssuitable for mammalsss?" The gorn asked.

"Wait," Liselle cut in. "Let me try the berry drink. I'm feeling particularly adventurous lately."

" Very well. Computer replicate Sssthlig beverage ssseventy-five. " The gorn said as he walked over to the replicator which had produced a long glass with a dark blue liquid in it. Picking it up he carried it over before handing it to the trill. " Enjoy." He said with a smile on his reptilian face.

She reached up to take the oddly shaped glass. She studied it for a moment, then the liquid within. Qwyyn nodded to herself, raised up the drink in salute, and then brought it to her lips. Immediately her head cocked to one side, her lips puckered and her left eyelid squeezed firmly shut. "Oh my!" she gasped. "Wow. You weren't kidding! That is, wow, that is really something else." She set the drink down. And then immediately picked it up again for another drink. Qwyyn winced again. She looked at Sthlig, and she shrugged. "It's growing on me."

" It hass quite the kick doesssn't it." The gorn replied with a grin.

She shook her head slightly. The gesture was not in disagreement, she was trying to shake away the haze of alcohol that washed over her. "Quite the kick, indeed," she agreed. "I'm afraid I might need a nap instead of getting down to business on our medical investigation." She allowed herself one last indulgent gulp before setting the glass down again. "Okay, first thing tomorrow. Holodeck. You, my host, my symbiont, and some answers. It's a date?"

" I'll sssee you then." The gorn replied as he followed her to the door.

She paused for a moment in the corridor. "Thank you, Doctor," she said. "For sharing your story with me. This visit has been very...enlightening."

Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here! - Dealing With the Devil

A Mission Post by Avalon & Lieutenant Commander Gary Taylor & Lieutenant JG Jessinia Kopl-Johnson & Fleet Admiral Paul Carter & Lieutenant Jackson Heilong

Mission: Episode 2: Hell is empty, all the devils are here!

Location: Brig

Timeline: Current MD4

Gary had watched Lia leave and now he waited impatiently for Lieutenant Kolp-Johnson to join him in the brig to interview the Lieutenant and find our just what he knew and how far reaching was this conspiracy they had uncovered. he wanted answers and he wanted them now! He didn't care how they got them. If getting the answers they needed turned the Lieutenant's brain into Swiss cheese, then those were the breaks and he wasn't about to apologize for it or the methods they used.

In the Brig, Jackson Heilong was recovering from the fight he had gotten into. Ordinary thugs is what the Crew of the Elysium thought he had been fighting but he knew that they had been sent by the Watch. He just hoped his main contact within SI got here before they unleashed their interrogation techniques on him.

Gary saw Kopl-Johnson approaching, "Lieutenant, lets go interview a suspect." He spoke in a humorless tone wanting to get this questioning started and answers forthcoming.

Clearly this situation was affecting the commander deeply. Far less so for Jessinia. Perhaps he was uncomfortable with this part of an op?? It didn't matter.. "Commander there are ways to MAKE people talk and ways to GET them to talk. Do you want Information, Or the Truth?" This was her place. she was Calm and In control.. Since the perp was still breathing meant she had work to do...

Gary fixed her with a gaze, "I want answers Lieutenant. The whole ten yards. Names, dates, all the information that goes with it. Now our suspect is waiting shall we go and commence with this interview?"

That was just Perfect.. Jessinia thought.. "After you commander.."

Jackson looked up as the pair entered the brig. "Ah, well this is interesting." He commented dryly.

Gary didn't answer immediately, he moved so he was in front of Jackson and just stared at the man for several seconds. Finally he spoke in a flint hard voice. "I'm glad you find so Lieutenant. We'll try to make the rest of this 'interview' equally so."

"Oh please do so. I have been terribly bored." Jackson sat back on the bunk. "And I see you brought the raging telepath. Going to burn my secrets from my mind Lieutenant?"

"I'm glad you are in just good humor Lieutenant. Lets see how good your humor is after we're done." Gary replied in a deceptively calm voice. Yet even as he spoke Gary was concerned about the Lieutenant's lack of concern in being questioned. He was too cool, too sure of himself. Which made Gary even more determined to get the answers he wanted.

She'd entered silently, leaning against the wall in profile. Only the truelly sexually dead could resist her, everyone else Had to work at it.. His calm was completely fake, well practiced, but a shill. only time would fix that.. "Burning you??? Sorry but your not that big in your head.. Besides there are far more,, Entertaining ways to connect the lips to the brain...

Jackson rolled his eyes. "Oh please. I was briefed on the new crew when I was on Earth. I have been through the same as this crew. And I took the Elysiums' revenge on the man who put us through hell."

Gary listened silently as Jackson spoke in a smug voice. Waiting to pounce on the next words out of his mouth. He glanced at Jessinia and gave her an almost imperceptible nod to begin her 'extraction' of information.

Jessinia returned the wise ass smirk from the perp. She couldn't care less.. This person threatened her Children's new home!! He had NO CLUE what he was in for.. All she did was reach in and timed it perfectly, within heartbeats of his next breathe, he regretted it.

Jackson felt the panic welling as he struggled to exhale the breath. His gaze fell on the intelligence chief and even as panic welled retribution was promised in that gaze. His face was going red.

{I'm Just GETTING STARTED FOOL,, Answer His questions...} Her vindictiveness was starting to show.. She than released him..

Gary acted like nothing out of the ordinary had taken place. "Now then as I was saying, Lieutenant I want the names of all mutineers, their cells, how you contact each other. The whole ball of wax and just how wide spread your organization is and......" he paused for a beat "I want them now."

"WHY??''' Jessinia asked.. "If you have been a faithful member? WHY turn??" She had Killed almost Every turncoat she'd encountered. She closed her mouth and reined herself in..

[Kind of hard to speak when one cannot breath Stupid] Jackson thought back at Jessinia nastily. [Can't give you the answers you want if i cannot speak. Did you pass the academy?]

{You really want to go there?} She reached into his synaps found his bowels, his equilibrium and the nerves in his right eye, being left brained his right side was his primary. All at once they Shutdown. what happened next was,,, A real mess...

From behind the Commander and the Lieutenant came a booming voice. "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?" Admiral Carter had beamed over to the ship.

On the bunk, Jackson's body spasmed and shook.

Gary turned and found himself looking into the eyes of the Admiral. "Admiral Carter." He returned formally. "The prisoner was refusing to answer our questions. We were attempting to convince to be more 'forthcoming'."

"What question did he refuse to answer?" Paul Carter asked before adding "I suggest you stop what ever you are doing."

Gary continued to look at the Admiral though he did address Jessinia, "Lieutenant. That's enough."

She released the Lt. as she stood a bit straighter. She had no idea how much the Admiral may have known of her...

Jackson groaned and tried to roll off the bed but his body was struggling to move. "Admiral."

"Operative Heilong." The Admiral said calmly to the two from the Elysium. "I see that you have fallen afoul of the Elysium crew."

"That's the breaks Admiral."

Paul Carter turned to Taylor and Jessinia. "I would suggest you ask your questions politely. Once you have, the Lieutenant will be transferred to my ship."

Jessinia looked at the LT. {Trust me, WHEN you cross the line, I know you will, I'll not be far away..} "Why all of this?? Death. mayham, destruction of gear and Scaring the Entire crew??

"I had nothing to do with that." He said coldly as he turned his head to face the group. "My orders were to infiltrate and watch. Not the Elysium. The Watch. Commander Magnolia was deemed too ambitious and those she had under her, wanted nothing more than death and mayhem. When we returned to the Alpha quadrant, I was made aware of the commodore's vanishing act. So I took steps." Slowly Jackson sat up. "You want names Lieutenant? Commander? I left you the computers in tact. They should be there. You have those who did the deed on the ship by now. None of them know anything beyond the group on the ship." He didn't lie at all.

Jessinia nodded at the senior officers..{Good boy, your on my shit list, I suggest you Stay that way...} "I suggest giving the Admiral custody, it might,, clear the air a bit.."

Gary nodded at Jessinia's suggestion. "Admiral, I relinquish custody of the prisoner to your care sir."

Carter's face was still and showed no emotion. "Thank you commander." he hit his comm and seconds later, Jackson Heilong was gone from the brig to his ships medical bay. Then Carter gave the other two a nod. "I will leave you to report this to your commanding officer." And then he was gone from the brig, his footsteps echoing in the ensuing silence.

Gary watched as the Admiral disappeared from view before turning Jessinia, " Well, that could've gone better however thank you for your help in this matter Lieutenant. I greatly appreciate all you did. I will make sure the Captain knows as well."

Jessinia looked at the empty space, to everyone else it was empty. but to a telepath, the "aura" in this case "Stink" of the being was still there. he'd been a very busy "Agent" not unlike her. She wouldn't forget him anytime soon, and she would fulfill her pledge to him should he cross the line again... "Thank you, Commander, I'm still adjusting and That was likely more fun than it should be." "If you'll excuse me commander I have a small class of fresh young minds to impress the Truth of this universe upon..."

Gary nodded, "Of course Lieutenant. Make sure you do impress the Truth on them. The universe is a wondrous and dangerous place and they need to know that. Thank you again for your help in this distasteful situation. I appreciate it."
