Brief Interview with Selena Harris, on board reporter
SH: So, what does your job entail on the USS Elysium? AH: Well I basically go round poking my nose into things, as the Security Officer. I also have a small team to assist me in Security, they keep things under scrutiny so nothing can endanger the ship internally. As a Tactical Officer I need to keep my wits about me when I'm on the bridge, because if things go pear shaped it comes down to me to use the ships weapons correctly. If the Captain wants Phasers, then its no good me shooting off Photon Torpedoes. I need to work out firing solutions, and then pass them over to the Captain. SH: How do you unwind after a tough duty shift? AH: Now how should I answer this? You see I kindda go nuts when I'm off duty, but only in the privacy of my cabin or the holodeck. I don't drink so I doubt anyone will ever see me in the ships bar, but if that's your thing then go for it. When in the holodeck, I play swords and sorcery type programs or maybe sometimes combat programs. SH: Have you any pointers for those who want to do what you do? AH: Only one piece of advice I was ever given about Security, is don't do it. No seriously, my first Director told me outright not to go there. But if someone is crazy enough to want to be in Security, then I would suggest applying to Star Fleet Intelligence first. They have some wicked courses and not all operatives end up as spys, you can choose to go into the Security side of things and work with people. SH: Do you have any funny stories about your time on the Elysium? AH: No not really, I've not been here that long. The only thing remotely funny was when I first arrived and reported to the Captain, I completely blew my arrival by asking her if she was the captain. I mean hey, I'm meant to be the Security Officer and I don't even know the Captain. How embarrassing. SH:What about hobbies? Any strange hobbies? AH: Depends what you call strange, if playing a warrior princess on the holodeck is strange. Then there you go, I'm strange. So all I can say is, if you see a girl all dressed in black carrying a sword on security detail that'll be me. SH: Thank you for your time Lt. Commander Holmes!
