Brief Interview with Selena Harris, on board reporter
SH: So, what does your job entail on the USS Elysium? GT: "Well Selena, as First Officer I'm the liaison between the crew and the Captain. I let her know the general feeling of the crew. I also oversee any punishment that is to be carried out on a crew member. To make sure it falls within regulations. Not to mention if something should happen to the Captain in that she is ill or incapacitated or is off ship, I'm in command." SH: How do you unwind after a tough duty shift? GT: "Normally, I go to my quarters and take a old fashion hot shower, not one of those sonic ones but one where the water pelts your skin. I can feel the tension just slough off as the water hits my skin. I'll also on occasion go to the gym and work out, to take my mind off of that day's particular distraction.'' SH: Have you any pointers for those who want to do what you do? GT: "Do you mean as an officer or more specifically as an Executive Officer? If you're talking of being an officer. First you have to go through the Academy and graduate. To be an Executive Officer, you have to work smart and hard, apply yourself constantly, go the extra mile in doing your duty in both to your ship and crew. Lastly you have to be able make and carry out tough decisions. Some may involve life and death." SH: Do you have any funny stories about your time on the Elysium? GT: *Laughs and shakes head" "No, I'm afraid I don't Selena. I haven't been on board long enough to accumulate any funny stories." SH: What about hobbies? Any strange hobbies? GT: "I love to read, westerns, mysteries. In addition I like games of skill like chess. I like to dance, listen to music. I don't know if this qualifies as a strange hobby but I am have holoprogram of the Old West, I like to run where I am the town's sheriff."End of Interview
