Lieutenant Dyhei Liducca

Brief Interview with Selena Harris, on board reporter

SH: So, what does your job entail on the USS Elysium?

DL: That's quite an opening question to ask someone from the science department." She offered with a nervous laugh.

"But as you ask, it two fold I guess there's a part that's running round making sure all the experiments in the various laboratories are running smoothly and that the officers and crew have what they need, most of these relate to the ships current mission but even that can take various forms anything from supporting whatever task the bridge crew are engaged in, I tend to take the lead on that one, to to exploring the background of the planet or system that had our attention at any given time."

"But I as with most from the Science Department I have a specialisation, I'm a Stellar Cartographer, which involves keeping an eye on what the many different stellar bodies are doing, making a note of that and more importantly sharing that with the fleet as a whole. Also when I have the opportunity to examine one of those stellar bodies in detail and learn all its characteristics, now that could be anything from a star to a hunk of rock drifting through the sectors, each has a story to tell."

SH:How do you unwind after a tough duty shift?

DL: I often find myself making for the lounge, I find being around people and having the opportunity to meet and make conversation. Not forgetting that all important hot beverage, I'm going thought a tea phase at the moment, but I'm open to trying options, just no booze.

SH:Have you any pointers for those who want to do what you do?

DL: Stay in school. May sound basic but science is all about learning so go as far as you can with your education, also give attention to mathematics as well, most sciences have that subject as a base. But more importantly, now this is just my opinion, find the branch of science that you are passionate about and nurture that feeling allow it to drive your search of that particular part of the subject. Science should be about the search for answers than the answers themselves. In my opinion.

SH:Do you have any funny stories about your time on the Elysium?

DL: Well I haven't been on the ship that long to be honest, and the first outing everything had to be quite tight, sooo. ....... having said that, there was this one time I was talking to one of my fellow officers about something, not important, the positioning wed adopted was however it was iregular to say the least, especially to the young Ensign who walked in. You know I don't know if he knew water to do with himself for a few moments.

SH:What about hobbies? Any strange hobbies?

DL: Well it maybe interesting to some that I grow pepper in the hydroponincs bay, I'm quite an avid tea drinker, although though that more of a passing interest. I also rock climb to stay active, and in some sort of physical shape, at the moment I'm at lead climbing with a holo guide but if anyone wants to join me they'd be more than welcome.
