1st Lieutenant Michael Andrews

Brief Interview with Selena Harris, on board reporter

SH: So, what does your job entail on the USS Elysium?

MA: Well, first, thank you for taking the time to spotlight me. As MDC, I oversee the 120 marines under me and assist the crew as necessitated by mission details. For example, we helped secure the cargo bay and sweep the decks, assisting Security.

SH:How do you unwind after a tough duty shift?

MA: I have a few methods to decompress when things get stressful. First, do practice martial arts: tai chi and karate. I use swords and daggers as well. Second, I'm fond of classical music: Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, Tchaikovsky. Third, I read. Fantasy and adventure novels popular in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

SH:Have you any pointers for those who want to do what you do?

MA: Marines have always been known as the grunts. We're the few and the proud. Never give up, never surrender, never leave a man behind. We embody the ' all go, no quit ' human spirit, in my opinion. We don't just shoot to kill. We're problem solvers too.

SH:Do you have any funny stories about your time on the Elysium?

MA: I don't as yet, unfortunately. However, I'm sure with this fine crew and ship; something will come along. Halloween is next month.

SH:What about hobbies? Any strange hobbies?

MA: Well, Selena. I've always been fascinated with fighters. Not just the warriors and gladiators from history and popular fiction. I mean, the straighter as well. As MDC, I do have 32 pilots under my command. I think it only prudent, that I have some straighter experience as well. I use the holodeck for starfighter simulations.
