The Aquaini

Aquain is a world of underwater cities and a number of small continents in the norther hemisphere. Both Humans and Aquaini live in this idyllic place. The Aquaini can live both in and out of water. The royal family of Aquain, live in the capital city of Aquai. It is situated on the Island and like its surrounding cities has canals that provide transport and access to the huge underwater cities to locals and visitors alike. Aquain’s capital city is an exact match to its underwater sister city of Iaqua. The intermarriage between humans and Aquaini is not forbidden in fact the Royal family was an intermarriage. Of course Humans that wish to visit the underwater cities under their domes must take a Submergence vessel to them, as do half Aquaini as they can only swim underwater for a very limited time and their lungs won’t support them if they dive that deep. Aquaini are Omnivores, they eat both plants and meat.

Aquaini joined the Federation in late 2370's

For many centuries the Aquaini had lived peacefully. Keeping to themselves and away from trouble. But in the year 2153, they made their first intersystem warp jump, attracting the attention of a passing NX-01 Ship Enterprise. Captain Jonathon Archer was intrigued by this race who lived such a calm and idyllic life style that he and his crew spent a shore leave there. This opened up, diplomatic ties to Aquain but when the federation was formed they refused the invitation of membership, stating that they preferred to stay out of the Galactic arena. In 2179 their crown prince went to Earth to study at Harvard Law School. He found Earth to be a warm and inviting place to live. He returned to his home planet in 2182. The King, Haelanth Kylemaelinana, was in his 200th year of his reign. And was expected to retire and cede to his son, then of the age of 135 the crown. The Crown prince, his wife and their children, had enjoyed their time on Earth. Their children were the ages of 16, 10, 5 and one in the year 2182. They lived idyllically until the year 2184. It was then when an El-Aurian male by the name of Xander Farseeker, came to Aquain with dreams of ruling the planet and using its vast resources. He began a rebellion on Aquain, he spread foul rumors and caused turmoil. With the King ailing the Crown prince was taking on more and more responsibility and Xander used that to put about words of a coup, and that the crown prince was spiteful and poisoning his own father. After ten years of fighting, he set up a new government when the Royal family fell. The Royal Family was assassinated. What happened to the army? They were bought by the rebel factions and any loyalist officer was killed. In 2365, the Royal family was restored to the throne in a restoration assisted by royal loyalists and a few members of the Federation’s Intelligence bureau. The people of the planet set up a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system.

Aquaini, while a water planet, is home to many natural resources that has made it a very desirable planet for trade. The Aquaini use weapons based on Crystal Technology. The crystals are naturally growing on Aquaini, and where they are found, determines their properties and values.

Weaponary

All Weapons on Aquaini use these crystals as power sources. Most families of note have family swords made of crystals. All phase pistols are powered by the crystals.

Life Span 400 years+

Aquaini do not have tails like mermaids nor do they have visible Gills. Their lungs are designed to filter O2 from water as if they were breathing normal air. Most Aquaini dress in Roman like tunics and clothing. It makes for easy movement when underwater.

Advantages:

Good eyesight.

Sensitive hearing

Very good at swimming,

Disadvantages:

They can only drink water, or drinks made on their home world of Aquain.

Half Aquain can not swim very deep, only to a depth of 400 meters where as full can go to the bottom of the deepest oceans and breath with NO trouble.

Must drink water at least 6 litres a day if out of water any longer then 12 hours, they do not need to be submerged. Half Aquain is 3 litres of water.
