Being a recent arrival onboard Leilani wanted to introduce herself to her new marine CO. Having heard about Naxea’s injuries she didn’t want to pester too much just introduce herself. Making her way to Sickbay she asked the nurse who greeted her where she could find Naxea, smiling politely as she was pointed in the right direction.

Approaching Naxea’s bed Leilani paused at the end of the bed and stood to attention. “Begging your pardon Colonel, Sergeant Leilani R...” she paused, “Charles, new Combat Medic reporting in.”

Naxea looked the woman over. She really wish Man'darr would let her know of any transfers but she knew the man well enough to know he didn't want to bother her with such details. "At ease, Sergeant. I take it you're replacing Sergeant De La Rosa then?"

“Yes ma’am“ Leilani smiled as she relaxed her stance. “How are you recovering Colonel?”

"I am doing better, thank you. The doctor says I should be discharged tomorrow but I will be on administrative duty only until I complete my physical rehabilitation," Naxea replied. "I haven't had the luxury of going over your service record so, tell me a bit about yourself, Sergeant. Where have you served prior?"

“Well I spent two years at Starfleet Academy, before transfer to the Marine Corps. When I graduated the Corps in 2388 I was assigned to the USS Nimitz, 1st Marine Expeditionary Detachment. I took one year of compassionate leave from 2390 to 2391.” She paused before continuing. “When I returned I was assigned to the USS Churchill, where I made the rank of Corporal. I served there until 2394 when I was transferred to the USS Herald, the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Detachment, where I made Sergeant. I’m hoping this will be my home for a while to come now.”

"I see...why did you not complete Starfleet Academy?" Naxea wondered.

“To be honest I felt my career options lay with the Marines ma’am, I wasn’t wrong.” Lani offered a smile.

"I see...well then, welcome to the 62nd Marine Detachment also called the Spartans, Sergeant. I would suggest talking with Sergeant De La Rosa to get any advice she can give as you have some big boots to fill. As usual, you will undergo any training the Marines undergo as well as keep current in your medical field."

“Of course Colonel, Sergeant De La Rosa is a nurse I believe?” She looked at Naxea curiously.

"Yes, she transferred out of the detachment to pursue a medical career in the Fleet," Naxea explained.

Lani nodded. “I’ve got to go for my medical so I’ll speak to Sergeant De La Rosa while I’m there.

"Good," Naxea nodded slightly. "Have you experienced any combat before, Sergeant?"

“Yes Colonel I have. I took a phaser hit to my shoulder last time I was out, but it’s healed perfectly.” Lani smiled. “I like to keep up-to-date on my skill set, if I don’t it could cost lives. I don’t intend to lose anyone.”

Naxea was so far impressed with the Sergeant and being a combat veteran meant that the woman could at least be trusted not to panic once the crap hit the fan. "If there is anything you need, please get with my XO, Warrant Officer Man'darr. You can't miss him, and I mean that literally," she grinned.

Lani smiled. “I’ll remember that Colonel, and I will. I’ll let you get your rest Ma’am, but I’ll be back to check in on you. I wouldn’t be much of a Medic if I didn’t.” She smiled warmly.

"Very well. Dismissed, Sergeant," she said, giving a nod.

“Thank you Colonel” Lani gave a salute before she turned and headed on her way.
