ON

Ensign Lia Holmes Looked at her PaDD, USS Endeavour. *Well that wasn't what I expected*, she thought. As she crossed the connecting bridge she looked up, the vessel towered over her. *Five years on this ship is going to be hell, I just know it*, the thought seemed to be a red alert in her brain. Once onboard she made for the Captains ready room, but she never got there. Lieutenant Commander Winston Harper intercepted her and took her to his office. "So Ensign Holmes, our new engineering replacement. I've heard all about you from the Academy, you do know a certain Lieutenant Carol Wiseman don't you?" Lia looked at the first Officer, "I have heard of that Officer, but what has that to do with this deployment Sir?"

Harper now stood up, "That Officer is my future wife Ensign, and you saw fit to insult and humiliate her. I won't forget that Holmes, not for one second". Taking a deep breath Lia now faced Harper, "What happened at the Academy has nothing to do with this deployment sir, and the incident between myself and the Lieutenant was of a personal nature". Winston glared at Lia, "PERSONAL!! PERSONAL!! What you did wasn't personal Ensign, you pushed her out of a ground floor window stark naked into a parade of Cadets. You want to explain how that's personal Ensign?" Holmes wanted to tell Winston that his girlfriend had done exactly the same thing to her in the gym, but she kept that part of the incident to herself. "Lieutenant Wiseman chose to indulge in what is called ragging, only she picked on the wrong Ensign sir", Lia could see that the first Officer wasn't going to give her a break on this.

"Ragging? Don't come that bullshit with me Holmes, Carol Wiseman isn't the type to rag on a Cadet or an Ensign", Harper clearly wasn't in the mood to listen. He turned and picked up a PaDD, "This is your duty station Ensign, you will report to the Engineering department when your duty starts. You will then fuck off and remain out of sight for the remaining hours of that shift, do I make my self clear?" Lia stood opened mouthed, "You can't do that! I'll be washed out of the service, that's victimization". Harper threw the PaDD at her, "Prove it you little shit, I'm the one in charge of all new arrivals. And don't think you can do an end run around me, the Captain sees no one without my clearance".

Holmes stood and waited for Harper to continue, "And in case your wondering, Commander Stockwell is the one who informed me of the incident. Carol hasn't said a word, so get any idea of revenge on her out of your tiny fucking brain. I'm keeping a tight reign on you Holmes, I think within a year you'll be out of the service completely". "That's a direct threat Commander", Lia said. Winston now came round from behind his desk and stood inches away from Lia's right ear, "To fucking true, but you haven't got one ounce of evidence have you? Now get the fuck out of here".

Lia left the office and stood in the hallway completely stunned, what the hell could she do about all of this? She made her way to Engineering and reported to the Chief Engineer, one Lieutenant William T Singer. Lia handed Singer her PaDD and waited, "Oh your Holmes are you? Well no doubt the XO has given you the details, so here's your cabin number just go and stay there". Singer turned and walked away, leaving Lia confused and saddened by the turn of events. She went to the cabin indicated only to find a dump, the whole cabin smelled damp and smelly. She would have to clean it before she could even start to replicate furniture and bedding, then she noticed there was no replicator. Harper was determined to make life as difficult for her as possible, *I can't take five years of this* she thought and began to cry. Maybe she should just resign, nothing good could ever come out of this mess.
