Leif had been so busy lately, Athena said to him with a very firm look, “You need some rest. I bet you have not opened up the letter you received right before shoved off.

“I have misplaced my letter,” Leif shrugs his shoulders.

Athena facepalms herself as she opened up his middle drawer. “I still do not know why people send letters. Here it it is. It was in an office letter size envelope.”

Leif opened the envelope to see to letters. One was from his best friend Framber “Goose” Gossage. Another one was from Goose’s wife Martha. He decided to open the letter from Goose first.

“Dear Leif, as you see this is not my handwriting. I am dictating to my hospice nurse the account of what happened. For years, we use to go on motorcycle treks. I went on one with my son and two others. My motorcycle wiped out due to tires not being put on properly. It broke my spine and now I am laid up in hospital bed. Keep the faith. I may be quadriplegic but I am alive.”

Leif takes a deep breath as hands the letter to Athena to read. After Athena read it, she comforted Leif as best she could.

“Now the other letter,” Leif said as he felt dried foreboding on opening it.

Athena says sweetly, “I shall read it.”

Leif nodded okay.

Athena read the letter.

“Leif, this is Martha. This will not be easy to say but I will say it. Goose died two hours ago. Due to his condition, he had a hard time chewing. This caused him to die. I will not go into details but you get the gist. He always looked up to you. His brother died when he was young and he always felt you were his brother from another mother. I know you will not be able to make the funeral because he wanted a small ceremony. Thank you for all you have done.” Athena finished it by hugging Leif.

Leif placed his arms around Athena as both comforted each other. “Goose was my brother. I still remembered the first time we met at a YMCA Camp. We lived far away but when we moved two miles from where he lived, we became the best of friends. We must celebrate his life. Let’s put on old fashion rock and roll and nit the kind you find in a disco.”

“The kind that soothes the soul,” Athena answer trying to crack a smile but failed in the attempt.

The two of them listen to the music for a goood while.

“We need to remember the good times we had with Goose,” Leif said sadly. “He had no fear. Goose loved adventures and dogs. Plus the music of course and he said you must play it loud to appreciate it. Because of Goose, I fell in love with classical music.”

“When we get back to earth one day,” Athena said kissing Leif, “We will go by and see Martha and his son Nolan.”

“That would be nice,” Thor said kissing Athena back.
