As soon as all the replicators were functioning, other systems started misbehaving.

“Sometimes I think there are gremlins on the ship,” Chief Petty Officer Paddy Fields said working on the warp core.

“Everything was in tip top condition a week ago,” Athena said shaking her head. “Some how that virus that got into the replicators , got into other systems. It does not go into major systems but it goes in to minor ones. Nasty little one.”

“Lieutenant Magnus,” Lorelei says, “Lieutenant Junior Grade Camryn Shepard is the one who was able to crack this.”

Athena added, “Thor. She should become your assistant. I am stepping down for reasons I do not want to bring up. She is capable of doing the job,”

“Very well, “Thor says, “She saved the ship and she has always shown initiative. Let’s make it so. Team, we have a lot to do. The aftermath of the gremlins , we need to check everything from the smallest item to the ship itself.”

Thor who had been dealing with a lot felt pleased for his team for stepping up to the plate getting hits left and right and for Camryn for hitting a grand slam. Thor often thought I’m sports metaphors from baseball , football and basketball. Now he feels like a basketball player in the pivot.

All in all, moving his crew around giving them new assignments, more responsibilities and so forth.

He had hopes in Ensign William Weatherby but he had not given up on the officer. Some Engineers like Camryn have a quick learning curve but William is slowly catching on.

Lorelei walks into his office. “Lieutenant Magnus. The emergency teleport is now installed in Engineering. In case of emergencies as well as evacuations and other scenarios, it will come in handy. Petty Officer Ching Wang and Petty Officer Vlax should get kudos.

“I know Wang but who is Vlax?” Thor asks.

“Vlax is an unjoined Trill who had been struggling but now she is catching on,” Lorelei exhaled.

“Lorelei, you are doing great work. We are promoting Camryn to Assistant Chief. I was going to promote you but you declined. I assume this has to do with the children,” Thor said with concerned.

“You are correct sir plus she was the logical choice even with my concerns. She was able to get rid of the gremlins as you call them out of the system.”

“That she did,” Thor says. “Please contact her when you get a chance. The same goes for your husband Louis.”

“Will do sir and one last thing. We have several old fashion Keurig coffee pots on the ship. We had to repair them and those officers will be happy to get their authentic cups of coffee instead of the replicated coffee.”

“Yes and one of them is my wife Athena. I feel it is psychological but she says nothing beats a real cup of coffee. And how are the coffee plants doing in hydroponics ?” Thor asks.

“Louis my husband is the engineer who watches over them and he says they are mass producing now thanks to the officers drinking replicated coffee for awhile. “ Lorelei smiled. “Well that is my report Sir.”

“Have a good day and keep up the good work,” Thor said standing up as he dismisses Lorelei.
