Zuriñe went about ensuring the plants she had were properly set up in their respective terrariums. She had exotic plants from Earth, Vulcan, Edos, and of course her home world of Ceata. It was a mixture of carnivorous plants, herbs, medicinal and floral.
She was considering getting a degree in Xeno botany, after all she had a natural affinity for plants. She smiled to herself with that thought, of course she would, she was a walking, talking, and sentient plant; why wouldn’t she have an affinity for plants.
Zuriñe began with setting up her Vulcan specimens first, after all they required both extremely dry heat, high gravity and of course the lighting from K-type star and two other sun sources a white dwarf and a red dwarf. Many did not realize that the light waves and radiation from these stars greatly effected how the plants grew.
She had several species of Cir-cen, including a few varieties of Nor-cen. She had two G'teth. She had obatained a small cluster, three three to be percise, of Sir-soss'im after she proved she was capable of managing them. These had all come from desert regions of Vulcan. From the Volcanic plains Zuriñe was able to gather some more plants. She had one sample of Gal-en-Du'un though she wished she had more given its usage in Vulcan medicine. She had also aquired a Pel-Tar'uk plant. One of her favorite plants was her small Tir-nuk tree, she was constantly tending to it, or should it be said the seedlings of it. From Vulcan's temperate zones she had species of plants; such as the Gespar, which she had two of; and several flowers of Y'ranth and the Favinit plants. Her Vulcan collection was tended to with a strict regime to ensure the fragile ecosystem was maintained.
She next moved on to her collection of Earth. She had several varieties of pitcher plants; three Nepenthes muluensis, five Cobra lilies, two Sarracenia, an Australian pitcher plant Cephalotus, three Nepenthes truncata and two Nepenthes villosa. Zuriñe had also collected a few of Earth's 'flypaper traps' plants; a , and a few Drosera capensis. She also had two speciemens of snap trap plants; the ever popular Venus flytrap and a Waterwheel plant. She had a bladder trap plant, Ultricularia vugaris. She also managed to obtain a lobster-pot trap plant < i>Genlisea violacea. She wanted to collect more carnivorous plants that Earth had, but she had not had time. She maintained these plants with the same studious care she gave her Vulcan plants. Zuriñe also had several flowering plants from Earth, such as roses, tulips, lilies, orchids and even two small bushes; a Japanese snowball and a lilac plant.
Zuriñe was about to move on to the her plants from Edos and her home world Ceata when she noticed the plants began reacting in a weird manner. She also noticed a shift in the pollen smells of the plants. The plants all began to move in the same swaying motion, as if caught in a swift breeze, though no breeze existed.
Zuriñe then noticed it, a very pale, ghost-like hands running across the tops of the plants. It was causing extreme agitation in Sir-soss'im cluster. She smiled though as the ghostly hand seemed to be getting bit by the cluster. Small ragged holes were appearing in it She also thought she heard the sound similar to 'Ouch' when the ghostly hand passed through the cluster.
Zuriñe called out, feeling foolish as she did so, "If you are one of the Zynari a friendly piece of advice, the plants you are touching, especially the Sir-soss'im can cause harm. The Sir-soss'im hails from the planet Vulcan; and as I am sure you are aware Vulcans are highly logical and even posses extra sensory powers. That particular cluster of plants is carnivorous and said to be able to prey upon a Vulcan. I am unsure what it will do to you. I am aware it does not find Dokkarans palatable, perhaps because I am also a plant. Also, I respectfully request you stop with what you are doing as the plants are getting extremely agitated, and most are are extremely delicate."
Zuriñe waited a few seconds, then the feeling and hands disappeared. "Thank you." She said aloud, still feeling foolish. Then it dawned on her, the Zynari had reacted to her Sir-soss'imcluster with what appeared to be pain. She needed to discuss this with the captain immediately.
