Shore leave, also known as R&R, or thank the heavens iv made it back. That's what Jason was thinking as he sat on the shuttle transporting him to earth. Yes there were teleporters that made the travel faster, but he liked to see earth from space. It just looked so beautiful to him.

Alex had been sitting on his bed ever since he got out of school, he had been thinking about his dad ever since he left. All he could ever remember was dad running from office to office or delivering paperwork for Admirals. He never even taught a class while they were stationed at the academy. Honestly he thought that was his specialty, but when Alex asked to be transferred to as ship he didn't expect security. Dad was middle tempered and the nicest man you could meet. Now hes off on the Elysium doing who knows what.

Jason stood outside the house that his son was in, it had been awhile since they were both in the same room together, they had not been separated a long time but it felt like years. Knocking on the door he waited for it to open and permit him access to his son.

The door opened and Janet stared at Jason for a couple of seconds before she grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him into a hug."Its been awhile." she said as she let him go.

Jason smiled into the hug."Yea its been awhile, I can't thank you enough for taking Alex until I could get him on the ship."

"Don't thank much of it, and I bet your only here to pick him up huh." She smiled as said as a statement.

Jason looked down and rubbed the back of his head. "Yea, I have some shore leave and I was gonna see if he wanted to do anything before we headed to the ship."

"He's in his room, and don't worry about not staying but I want some messages from both of you while your on that ship."Janet said pulling Jason into a hug again.

Jason took the hug and let go as she moved out of the way to let him inside.

Jason and Alex loaded into the shuttle, Alex smiling the whole time and babbling on how he was going to stay in the medical bay and when he meets the Captain he would be Jason's boss. Through out the whole monologue Alex was giving Jason smiled lovingly at his son and nodded along with him.
