Meeting the Federation Sinkahue

Imik approached the Captains ready room with trepidation, she had never liked reporting to senior Officers but to report to an alien senior Officer was worse. She had re-ironed her Uniform, the jacket now had razor sharp creases down the front of the sleeve. Her shoulder boards sat straight and level, while her squadron insignia with it's four mission stars one with the home worlds star burst behind it sat proudly on her left sleeve. The insignia badge was surrounded in a red border, an outward sign of a male combat unit. The green edging of her skirt brushed the floor, this was her arm of service colour. Female combat units had their insignia surrounded in the arm of service colour, also female combat units didn't get stars. She pressed the chime button and waited to be called in.

"Come!" Phoenix called out from inside her office. She was finishing off new crew paperwork and then she had plans to go babysit for Feyth again. She needed her Sedi fix.

The door opened and once again a desk separated Imik from the senior Officer, she approached the Sinkahue and presented her PADD. "Kie-Rathshu Imik S'Niohun reporting for duty". She bowed and awaited this alien Captain's reaction to her.

Phoenix had been briefed only slightly on the new officer. "Ah yes, welcome to the Elysium Lieutenant. Please have seat." She waved to the chairs before the desk.

Imik shook her head, "If it pleases you, I wish to remain standing". The Captain's easy going attitude made her feel uneasy, senior Officers were never like this. Unless they intended to get rid of you, she had learned that much from her interaction with Federation Officers.

"oh of course, what ever makes you comfortable." Phoenix replied. "So you have been assigned to our diplomatic team?"

"Yes, it appears I was seconded only as an exchange Officer. But from what I understand, I have been placed within your Diplomatic team". Imik now focused fully on Phoenix, "You seem distracted Sinkahue, sorry Captain. Is this a bad time?" Somehow this meeting wasn't going well in Imik's mind, she felt as if she wasn't wanted by this Senior Officer.

"No now is fine. I am just mentally going through the logistics. Your departmental chief, is commander Brett, and she is new to the position but I am sure you and she will get on very well."

Not quite sure how to react, Imik did something she shouldn't have done. She reached out and touched Phoenix's mind, "Now I understand". She only lightly touched, as she didn't want to offend or upset her new C.O. She now looked at the Office and then spoke to Phoenix, "I will now report to my Department Chief if you will allow me to depart, Sinkahue.........Sorry Captain".

Phoenix nodded. "Of course and please let operations know if your quarters do not meet your requirements."

Bowing towards Phoenix Imik turned to leave, it appeared her intrusion into the Captains mind hadn't been detected. Now she had to find her new Chief, she hoped at least she would want her. This Sinkahue clearly didn't.

Phoenix watched her go puzzled. But then she was not really knowledgeable about that race. She would have to look it up.
