Mission: Casperia Prime - A lesson in relaxation
Location: Main Shuttlebay
1713 words - 3.4 OF Standard Post Measure

Jessica entered the shuttlebay and looked at the new arrivals. "Well, well, well. What have we here?" She checked each cadet out one by one. She moved to one cadet and looked at him.

"By all the goddesses of Betazed. I have never seen a more pitiful sight in the twenty eight years i've been alive. Do you call that a uniform?" Jess noted. "If you don't wear my starfleet's uniform the right way, you're not only insulting starfleet, you're insulting me. Are you insulting me, Cadet. Did you call me an asshole?"

"No, ma'am."

Anje had entered hoping to find a minute to talk to Jessica alone, no such luck, though she was seeing some candid, unfiltered Jessica now, it was interesting. ~She's saltier than Milla. What the Hell?~

"Well now, you better get that uniform fitted or you'll get it twice as hard as what I'm going to give to the rest of these turds. And since I believe in equality, that means the rest of you will face the consequences of your actions. I don't want to see a sagging uniform in my sight again." Jess noted

~She's serious about her job, that's a good sign at least.~ Anje noted approvingly, ~She's like a sexy Rhodes...~

Jessica smiled at looked at the rest of the cadets. She then noticed a cadet wearing a skirt option on her uniform. "Son of a bitch..." The cadet gulped. "Are you nervous Cadet?"

"No ma'am." She replied.

"Are you a Counselor?" Jessica asked.

"No ma'am."

"Then why are you wearing a skirt in my squadron?" She spoke. "I thought it would make a good first impression, ma'am."

"Can you run in that thing Cadet." Jess mentioned. "Can you go from sleeping in your bed, to scramble in five minutes in that? I have a good idea." Jess held back a grin. "You are now all ordered to get regulation uniform skirts, put them on. and give me ten laps around the track. Get out of here."

The Cadets looked at each other and spoke. "Yes, Lieutenant Commander."

~Oh, Jesus...~ Anje shook her head, ~How this woman hasn't caught a charge yet is beyond me.~

Jess continued to inspect the cadets. "Goddesses, Cadet. Get a haircut. If that's a tribble on your head, I might get my ass kicked for introducing an invasive species into a foreign ecosystem. You six people are some kind of forsaken ecosystem. I can tell you right now every single one of you are going to end up in science, or diplomacy. I was expecting a room full of badasses. For once, can I be sent cadets who don't look like they're are about to give birth to something?"

"Um... ma'am..." One of them stated. She pointed at Anje.

"And what, pray tell, is wrong with diplomacy, Lieutenant Commander?" Anje asked as Jessica finally noticed her, "I would love to hear your take on Starfleet's mission."

"My take is simple, Commander. Don't die. It hurts like hell." Jess noted with a smirk.

"That's.... interesting, Commander." Anje sighed, "I was wondering if you could break away from dehumanizing your cadets long enough for us to talk."

"Get out of here. And don't forget to wear a proper flight uniform." Jess noted. "You'll thank me later."

"Do you always talk to your cadets like that?" Anje asked, this woman was a dishonorable discharge waiting to happen.

"And I don't have to tell you that's none of your business. Commander." Jessica mentioned.

"Well, to be honest, I don't give a damn less about your cadets as you spin towards an inevitable abuse complaint and the end of your career." Anje fired back, "What I care about is a starry eyed eighteen year old whose head you've turned and knocked her completely off kilter with romantic fantasies. I care about my sister."

"I adore Milla." Jess noted. "But the thing about pilots is. The next sortee, may be my last. I live without a single regret, Envoy. Fight like a Valkyrie, and love like it's my last day on earth. That's the thing about the Starfighter corps, we have the highest casualty rate in the fleet next to the Marines." Jess noted. "There's no mysteries with me. You want the honest truth, I'll say it; I love her and I won't hurt her.."

There was no hint of deception from the pilot, the truth was plastered across her beautiful face and, though she'd come determined not to like this woman, she found herself somewhat comforted by the honesty she'd received, "Very well." Anje nodded, "You'll understand, Milla and I have been, except for a short time, basically joined at the hip since she was born, there's nobody in the galaxy that means more to me, you're taking responsibility for what I treasure most. That being said, I believe you. You do love her, I see that. But, know this, should you hurt her there's something long said about Russians. Our memories are long and our knives sharp."

"I don't carry knives... I carry a sword. And mine is long and sharp, as long and sharp as yours." Jess noted. "I train soldiers, Commander. The first eight pilots I trained. One of them washed out. Three are dead. and the last four got their wings from me. If the washouts live, Commander. You can have them." Jessica turned towards her fighter.

"You clearly haven't grasped the concept that you're not talking to a run of the mill diplomat, but that's fine." Anje shrugged, all this woman's bluster was not going to intimidate her one iota, "But before you run off into your Top Gun fantasy, there's more I need to know. Like for instance are you aware that Milla's planning your wedding? Are you two on the same page with this?"

"Commander, I really don't care what you think, and me and Milla are none of your business." Jess noted. "Why don't you go sign a treaty with some Cardassians and give away the livelyhoods of good people. Nothing like diplomats to give away your home for a worthless treaty... that got people killed..... Oh well, They were all terrorists anyway."

"One, my family will always be my business, two, I have no idea what your problem is or who you think you're talking to, but I'm not her, so check yourself, bitch." Anje fired back, "And save this superhero fantasy for the kids at the McDonald's you'll be working at after your inevitable dishonorable. We're done here." With that she left, she'd tried to give this woman a chance but that was over now, she was going to do everything in her power to stop this.

Jess tapped her combadge. "Vaii to Milla Brett. Get to the shuttlebay. I just meet your sister."

=^= Ublyodok....=^= Milla replied, =^= I'm on my way.=^= ~Gonna guess it didn't go well at all.~

Jess waited for Milla to arrive and then spoke. "i'm not going to lie to you Milla. I hate her bleeding diplomat guts, and she clearly hates me." Jess noted. "At this rate, we're going to have one of those weddings with the empty chapel, and I don't want to do it that way. I can't make you choose between me and her."

"And it's not going to come to that." Milla reassured Jessica, "We're going to work this out."

"Well, she thinks we're doing this too fast. Maybe she's right, but it's her profession that pisses me off." Jess noted. "Either way, I'm going to try to do right by her because as she said. You and her were joined hip-to-hip." She noted. "Goddesses damn this Romeo and Juliette bullshit."

"She didn't choose her profession, you know?" Milla informed, she was sure her lover didn't know this, "She kind of got pushed into it. She was in Ops and happy, then they pushed her into diplomatic. She's just trying to do whatever they need her to do, just like you."

"She doesn't like that I'm tough on the recruits." She pulled an access panel off a Valkyrie. "I'm not going to serve these recruits creampuffs. I'm going to get them ready to be pilots, and that requires breaking before making. No one." She pulled off a broken part and tossed it. "Has ever been anything unless they've been hammered in the forge."

"That doesn't seem like Anje..." Milla said, she'd never known her sister to be opposed to hard training before, unless... "Oh, wow, why didn't I see this sooner? She's probably worried you talk to me the way you do your turds." ~That's it, the whole thing is a big misunderstanding!~ "Okay, so would you be opposed to trying this again? Maybe she sees you in different surroundings and in another light?"

"She probably thinks I'm too tough on my recruits? Let me tell you something. There's two kinds of pilots. Those who are alive, and those who are dead. And I only train one kind of pilot." Jess noted. "You can't make without breaking. This is not a career for the faint of heart."

"Okay, first, you're talking about my sister, who is definitely not faint of heart. Second, I promise you she doesn't care about your training methods, she's worried about me." Milla sighed, ~Leave it to me to fall in love with a woman as stubborn as my sister...~ "Please, Jess, for me, just let's try this again. She'll see you're not so bad, you'll see she's not your standard issue diplomat, and we won't have to worry about our wedding party consisting of the wait staff, okay?" She walked over and laid her shorn head on Jessica's shoulder and kissed her cheek, "For me, baby?"

"Alright, we do this the right way. I'm a Starfleet Officer." Jess noted. "And you better study for that astrometrics test coming up. If you get yourself lost in the Delta Quadrant, Then you better know how to get back to me. I'm not going to be there to handhold." Jess smiled. This was her as always. Tough love, and a lot of it.

"I'll always find my way back to you." Milla replied, taking her lover's hand, "I never want to lose what I've found here. I love you, Jessica."
