Physical Description | Tavrus is a tall man, with pale honey-brown skin, and bright green eyes. His hair is kept short and is a reddish-brown in color. He has several distinguishing features, nearly all of which are unable to be seen unless he is unclothed, and which take the form of various cybernetic implants. His largest implant is the reinforced spinal column, with an exterior support structure that looks like armor plating which runs from just below his neck, to just inside the hollow of his lower back. The only two visible in everyday circumstances are a small auditory implant that is visible behind, and just beneath his right ear, and a series of structural implants that run up the inside of his right forearm, and wrap around to the top of his right hand, and which were originally put into place to allow him to control various type of interchangeable arm sheaths to perform his duties as a maintenance drone. Because of his time in the Collective, and his current inability to fully assimilate into an individualistic culture, Tavrus wears his standard duty uniform at all times while not regenerating, showering, or unless he is performing his daily fitness routine. Tavrus is left handed, and has a deep, melodious voice. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview | Tavrus is an incredibly private man. He is still deeply scarred by his many years of enslavement to the Collective, and as such has a deeply seated difficulty with interpersonal communication and relationship development. He rarely speaks unless he has something important to say, and has very little of what might be called people skills, instead seeming to be incredibly timid and shy. However, his encyclopedic knowledge gleaned from his time as a Drone, and his highly advanced capacity for high-level sciences and maths, make him an ideal officer nonetheless.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Highly intelligent Focused Organized Painfully shy Timid Lacks confidence Doesn't understand the concept of individuality |
|
Ambitions | Tavrus does not ascribe to the fallacious notions of personal ambition. His only goal is to serve the Federation, via Starfleet, working to ensure that should a Borg threat ever come again it will be quickly halted and excised to ensure the safety of the galaxy and its inhabitants.
Hobbies & Interests | During his downtime, Tavrus endeavors still to pass his time fruitfully. To that end, he studies the history and procedures of the intelligence community, various scientific and mathematical disciplines, performs a daily exercise regimen, and studies tactical and martial arts. |
Character Background
Personal History | Tavrus Saral was assimilated as an infant during the attack on El Auria in the year 2265. One of only a very small number of his species to ever be successfully assimilated into the Collective. There are no known records of him or his family in existence, and he is therefor a complete non-entity, with no family to return to, or personal history to examine. For the next one hundred and twenty-three years, he would be a functioning member of the Collective, serving in the capacity of a maintenance drone on various Borg vessels, and installations across the galaxy. This designation gave him untold access to areas of Borg vessels, and hierarchies, which drones of a more specialized nature may have been restricted from. During an incursion into Federation space in the year 2280, the ship which Tavrus was stationed on was inexplicably stricken by a total systems cascade failure seconds after being forcibly expelled from a transwarp conduit in the Kalandra Sector of the Alpha Quadrant. Only fourteen of the 129,000 drones on the Cube survived, and their link to the Collective was completely severed. Of those fourteen only six were able to survive the loss of the uplink, with the other eight succumbing to total systems failure within days of their affliction. The Cube was detected by a Trill vessel on long-range patrol and reported to Starfleet. A small fleet of vessels was dispatched, and two and a half days later they approached the Cube and ascertained the damage. At that point, only two of the six remaining Drones were still active, and they were immediately beamed to the ship’s infirmary for emergency treatment. Tavrus lay on a biobed, restrained by a stasis field for nearly a week and a half as the medical team of the ship attempted to save the lives of the two Drones. He watched as the other Drone slipped further and further into systems failure, despite the best efforts of the medical team, before finally fading away entirely. Tavrus himself would only survive by a slim margin, falling into a coma for nearly a month before the team was able to extract enough of the Borg technology to allow his own systems to begin functioning again on their own. Due to his having been a drone since he was an infant many of the systems had fully integrated, leaving much of the technology untouchable, including the various implants still visible on his body to the current day. His assimilation at such a young age also created another problem for him, however. Because he was never able to interact with other beings in a normal, non-Collective setting, he never needed, nor developed interpersonal communication skills, or a sense of self. Once he was revived fully, while he was capable of now recognizing himself as a separate entity, that made no logical sense to him. He simply could not process individuality in any meaningful way. Over the next six years, under the care of Starfleet Medical and most especially the Psychology division, Tavrus gained at least a marginal ability to operate as a true individual, though his communication and interpersonal skills still lack the robustness of most sentient beings. Somewhere in those six years, however, a deep-seated desire to ensure the Borg threat was destroyed for good blossomed inside him. This lead Tavrus to petition for entry into Starfleet Academy, with the goal of becoming an intelligence officer. He was granted his wish, and after careful consideration, his application to do so was approved and he was allowed to sit the entrance exam. Now, having passed the exam, he has been assigned to the USS Elysium as a Cadet in her Academy Annex, working towards becoming an Intelligence officer for Starfleet. |

Medical and Psychological Information
Medical Review | Tavrus is in as near perfect health as a man in his situation could be. He still experiences various issues with his remaining implants, but has managed to find ways to deal with them, and is unafraid to communicate them to the medical officers in charge of his care.
Allergies/Health Issues | Tavrus requires regular appointments with a medical officer to ensure his body is still functioning properly with the implants he still contains in his body.
Counseling Review | Tavrus is cleared for entry into Starfleet Academy, though it is recommended he be placed in a remote training environment, instead of the main campus of Starfleet Academy as he would be much better served by the smaller number of cadets and more interaction with instructors and full-duty officers to help pull him out of his shell. He will likely still require regular appointments with a counselor to ensure his mental health is progressing. |
