Personality & Traits

General Overview Growing up bouncing between archeological dig sites and universities where her father would teach while studying his finds, skewed her view of how things worked, no question. Because they moved so frequently, she learned to make friends easily but not to expect permanence in relationships. Because everyone was focused so intently on the work, she learned independence and self-reliance at an early age. She knows her own mind and doesn't like to be bullied or pushed. She believes in civility and intelligent discourse. She pays attention, has a dry sense of humor, and is slow to anger.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:

+ Intelligent, good at out-of-the-box thinking, figuring out how the pieces fit together
+ An encyclopedic memory though sometimes it’s a snippet requiring her to hunt down the reference
+ Empathic contact - non-verbal communication directly from one mind to another (alive or deceased) as well as the ability to receive impressions from inanimate objects.
+ She won't fire a phaser on a kill setting (and really she's a lousy shot) but she knows how to defend herself in hand-to-hand combat. Often carries a telescoping staff and she knows how to use it.
+ Independent and self-reliant.
+ Very patient
+ Bugs, reptiles, and dark places don't bother her
+ Somewhat unflappable
+Very curious and wide open to new experiences

Weaknesses:

- Very light sleeper
- Can be stubborn
- The impressions she receives are so strong that she finds herself saddened or even grieving for a life lost long ago
- Doesn’t believe in taking a life - she sees that as a positive but security people sometimes don’t
- Gets caught up in the work so she’ll forget to eat or sleep in pursuit of something interesting. “Fine” is her favorite response when asked questions about this sort of thing but don’t believe it. That’s just to get you out of her way
- Doesn't like to be restrained ... at all
Ambitions * Read books from every Federation world
* Go somewhere everyone else hasn’t been too already
* Learn how to surf
* Do something others find scary - hang gliding, bungee jumping (Terrans have a lot of cool stuff that way)
Hobbies & Interests + Plays violin and keyboards
+ Reading books (generally non-fiction, generally about history and culture of other worlds but does appreciate classical literature)
+ Kickboxing and fighting with her favorite weapon, a telescoping quarterstaff
+ Extreme running
+ Dancing
+ Holodeck adventures (mysteries and horror stories especially)

Likes:
+ Coffee. There aren't words
+ Trying new things ... likes a bit of adventure
+ Having a puzzle to solve

Dislikes:
- Sitting still for long periods of time
- Pastels and Ruffles (she's not opposed to a bit of slink)
- Old Jewelry (it comes with its own history)
- Bullies

Character Background

Personal History Argelius II is an M-Class planet located in the Beta Quadrant in a binary star system with two F-Class stars known as Argelius A and Argelius B. Argelius II is a Federation member and has strategic value as the only spaceport in its quadrant. Space ships and crews often take shore leave on Argelius. Its people are considered welcome and open owing to a government and legal system based on pacifism.
Her mother died in childbirth and Allegra was raised by her father, a noted archeologist. She spent her childhood traveling between base camps on dig sites and universities where her father lectured while reviewing his finds. She was home-schooled by her father and his long-time research partners with an understandable emphasis on history, ancient civilizations/languages, research techniques, mathematics, folk tales, and myths.

She was six when her father found her sitting in what they believed to be the evacuated ruins of a simple dwelling holding a pottery shard in one hand. When he crouched beside her, she began to tell him about how the pot broke when the invaders rushed in and how the grain had spread across the dwelling floor, soaking in the woman’s blood as she fell under the knife. Her father removed the shard from her hand and by slow degrees, she returned to herself, her face wreathed in equal parts wonder and sadness.

While her father believed that she would spend her life with him as an archeologist, Allegra had different ideas. While he enjoyed the process of piecing together life and history from such small objects, her interest was drawn to the politics of the time period. If her father asked, who was this woman, Allegra would rather ask who was it that had invaded and why? Her attention turned toward more and more toward modern-day politics and current events.

And while her father worried for her, she proved to be both resolute and stubborn in her determination. When she was eighteen, she enrolled in Starfleet.
Service Record 2367 - Born on Argelius III
2385 - Entered Starfleet Academy, Intelligence Discipline

No one was more surprised than she was when she discovered an aptitude for Intelligence. The Academy was challenging and her instructors were good at uncovering weak spots. Still, she thrived and moved into the intelligence track. Coursework included Diplomacy, Engineering (electronics, operations and command functions), SIGINT Collection/Jamming, Analysis, Crypto-Analysis, Vulcan and Romulan languages, psychology, Cardassian and Borg history/psychology, survival, small unit and battle strategy tactics, xenobiology, and xenology. Additional courses were taken in astrogation, piloting, shuttle combat tactics.

2389 - Graduated Starfleet Academy. Additional coursework was taken at Starfleet Intelligence.
2391 - Graduated and certified as Intelligence Analyst
2391 - Assigned to border outpost as an Intelligence analyst. Received data from communications and from field operatives and used that information to predict events, identify operatives, and formulate plans of action.

Helped institute the yearly games - a series of events in which all departments competed for bragging rights. None of the events required particular skill and all had to have a humorous component.
2393 - Promoted to Assistant Chief. Continued to perform analyst duties but now combined in raw data with analyses from other analysts. Reported findings up the chain of command as warranted. Hours got longer and the work got harder. On one mission, the away team was caught and held captive by members of the Orion Syndicate for two weeks until rescue could be attempted. That was a difficult time.

2397 - Transferred to USS Elysium as department head, Intelligence
Languages Argelian, Federation Standard, Vulcan, Romulan. Learning Cardassian and collects swear words from many languages
Academy Graduation Year 2389
