Personality & Traits
General Overview | With typical Vulcan stoicism and emotional demeanour, Ket presents as your average Vulcan, though he has not yet undertaken the Kolinahr ritual. Ket, perhaps, is not a traditional Vulcan in the deepest sense of Vulcan traditions yet is trying hard to purge his emotions and follow the Vulcan path of logic. Ket is personable and will accommodate anything for a fellow starfleet officer.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Ket would describe himself as an efficient & skilled pilot. Due to multiple physical trauma Ket is on a medication regime which includes a hypospray, given by a medical professional. To ease the pain in his body. Ket’s uncertainties about his future and past actions have given him a lack of self-confidence. Ket lacks experience in flying in the newer models of starfleet vessels and fighters. |
|
Ambitions | Ket is at a junction in his life as he considers his future path, starfleet career and family needs. At this time Ket is satisfied to be flying again, but deep down knows that he needs to make an uncertain decision on what to do next in his life.
Hobbies & Interests | Playing the Tellarite Organ (a musical instrument that looks like part organ, part coral reef and part steam engine), Federation & Interstellar Politics (Because you can take the Vulcan out of Politics but not the Politics out of the Vulcan), horticulture, Teachings of Surak, Bajoran Culture. |
Character Background
Personal History | Ket Jack V’Laass, was born and raised on Cestus III. As a Vulcan, Ket had a satisfactory upbringing. Logically it was presumed that he would follow in the family footsteps of his parents. The V’Lass family has a long and extensive political history both on their homeworld of Cestus III and on the Federation Council. The V’Lass line can even trace an ancestor to an early Federation Presidential seat. Ket’s Father is an elected Cestus III Province Governor, with an eye set on a Campaign to become President of Cestus III. Ket’s mother is a Federation ambassador. Ket's sister is an assistant to the Cestus III Federation Councillor. Even his older brother works for the Mayor of New Fargo city on Cestus III. However Ket believed this was never a logical choice. Ket had a Strong, robust relationship with his parents and siblings, but as the youngest and with his parents working, Key was put into the ward of his Godfather. A human, Ket’s name sake, named Jack. A retired Starfleet officer, who his parents trusted implicitly. Jack encouraged Ket’s early interest in space and space flight, even to the extent of forming a branch of the Cestus III space cadets. When Kett Graduated from Starfleet Academy. He was assigned to the USS Emancipation, an Excelsior Class Starship as a shuttle pilot. The Emancipation was assigned to the Federation Cardassian border Skirmishes and in his first combat action Kett was shot down over a Federation Colony World. Captured and Interrogated by the Cardassian Union, believed killed in Action by Starfleet, Kett was transferred to a Labour Camp on Bajor were he would spend 20 plus years as a POW until its liberation. Kett’s status as a Federation citizen did not protect him from starvation or beatings, but he was still treated better than his Bajoran cell mates. Kett even managed to escape a couple of times to fight with the resistance but would eventually be taken prisoner again. After the Liberation Of Bajor and with aid coming in from the Federation, Kett was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital On Betazed. Ket was reunited with his family and began the long process of healing, both physically and mentally. But with war looming with the Klingon Empire and tensions rising with the Dominion, Ket's commission was re-activated. Ket flew Peregrine Star fighters in both the Klingon and Dominion war. Using Deep Space Seven as an operations platform, fighter wings would launch tactical sautees into enemy territory. In the latter days of the Dominion war, it was on one of these excursions that Ket was shot down again. This time though Ket was able to eject, but due to severe injury was given a medical leave of absence. The war had taken its toll on Ket, even more than his time as a POW. Ket believed a time of spiritual healing was needed and he seconded himself to a Monastery on Vulcan to begin his devotional journey. His stay on Vulcan was a moderate one but was interrupted by a summons to Earth and Starfleet Intelligence. Though not classified, at least not at a high level. Ket’s work in Starfleet Intelligence was rated as Secret. Not for him really, but more for those that he worked with. With the crisis on Romulus deepening, Ket went undercover as a freelance Romulan freighter pilot. His work was simple, smuggling operatives from Federation Space into the Romulan Star Empire and then back again. Part of his undercover work was to act Romulan, a difficult task for a Vulcan psyche under normal circumstances, even more so for a battered psyche such as Ket’s. This may account for Ket’s illicit liaisons with a Romulan Officer. Resulting in a disciplinary for Ket, a demotion and expulsion from his undercover work. Ket was considering handing in his resignation to Starfleet and accepting early retirement. But after spending time on Earth with his mother and her wise words, “Flying a starfighter is your first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material” he agreed to remain in starfleet. Not fully decided on his future, Ket is now awaiting Re-assignment. |
