General Overview		As a pacifist, Jon mainly wanted to fly all his life. His brothers were the fighters. They picked on him, so he learned self-defense rather. During the Dominion War, his mother died. He became sad, close to being depressed. His father, Anton, mourned her in his own way.

Character Background

Personal History		Kial Jona was his given name. Born on Bajor during the Cardassian Occupation, he lost his mother when she protected him from an explosion. When Kial Anton met Keis Hope onboard Deep Space Nine, it was love at first sight. He was injured and his nurse just happened to be a Starfleet human. Keis cared for him and for several months, they dated while onboard the station. Anton believed the prophets brought them together because he invited her to Bajor and proposed against his family's wishes. However, the Federation was all about bringing two people together, so they had a ceremony both on Bajor and on Earth. A year later, Jona was the first to be born. Along came his brothers. Then the Dominion War hit. During the battles against the Dominion, several Jem'Hadar soldiers killed Keis as she attended to the wounded. It hit Anton hard because he loved her. However, he never forgot his duty to his sons, Jona especially. While the war raged on, he raised them as best as he could. When it ended, he stayed onboard the station. When Jona came of age, he wanted to join Starfleet. Anton granted him permission. During the ancademy, he was given an human nickname, Jon Hope. After graduating from the academy, he flew as a shuttle pilot for several ships until he transferred to the Elysium.

Medical Review

He was born with a strange birth defect that caused one of his ears to be malformed, causing him to become born deaf. He grew up with this condition and while Bajoran medical science was limited in understanding deafness, he somehow persisted throughout the occupation. When his family moved to DS9, Starfleet studied his condition and in the year 2370, he received his first hearing aid. When he heard sound for the first time, he was happy.
