Physical Description 'Intimidating' would be too kind a word to describe Qe'lah. Standing over six feet tall, she is heavily muscled, with facial features fierce enough to reduce a child to tears -- and that suits her just fine. She does very little to make herself appear any less intimidating, positively encouraging it at times. Average in appearance for a Klingon, her dark hair, thick and curled, is typically left to flow freely past her shoulders and often decorated with trinkets of war (where allowed).

Personality & Traits

General Overview Qe’lah Korat is strong and proud, with all the usual Klingon fire, but she’s far from a brute. Alongside her physical strength, she has a sharp mind and a real interest in tactics and warfare. She likes understanding why battles are won, not just how hard they’re fought.

When she’s not training or fighting, Qe’lah has quieter interests. She reads for fun—romance most of all, something she’d never openly admit—and when the mood hits, she sketches. Her hand is steady, whether she’s holding a blade or a piece of charcoal.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths:
Physically capable, Qe'lah is an adept warrior on the battlefield and a terror to anyone who opposes her. Fiercely loyal and protective, and with a great knowledge for warfare and tactics, she is a formidable opponent who strives for absolute perfection in everything that she does.

Weaknesses:
The downside is that she also possesses the infamous temper of a Klingon. Only through long hours of spiritual reflection and meditation is she capable of controlling her volatile nature. Physical exertion is also an outlet which she uses frequently where allowed, training with all manner of weapons and fighting styles.

Qe'lah is known to speak her mind frankly and with absolute honesty, often coming off as rude when in reality her words are most often intended as helpful. She is not particularly ‘friendly’, but will happily socialise with her crewmates.
Ambitions Qe’lah wants to be known not just as a fearsome warrior, but as a tactician whose mind earns as much respect as her blade. Victory matters, but how it’s won matters more.
Hobbies & Interests Her hobbies vary accordingly to her mood; when she would like peace, she will read or study the art of warfare to further improve her knowledge of it. When in a dangerous mood, she will exercise on the holodeck or meditate in her room. Most often though, she will commit herself to her duty as a security officer.

Character Background

Personal History Born on Qo’noS, Qe’lah Korat was raised within the once-large and influential House of Korat. Her childhood was otherwise unremarkable by Klingon standards, marked by tradition, discipline, and the expectations that came with her family name. That legacy did not last. Her father, a politician with questionable ethics, was accused of corruption shortly after Qe’lah reached adulthood. The scandal shattered the House’s standing, reducing it to a shadow of its former strength.

As her House fell into disgrace, Qe’lah struggled to escape the confines of her family’s failing reputation and prove herself as a warrior of the Klingon Empire. She had nearly succeeded when her father’s crimes brought lasting shame not only to House Korat, but to her personally. As punishment, she was assigned one of the lowest possible postings within the Klingon military, where she served for several long, grinding years.

Her circumstances changed when her mother brought her news of an officer exchange program between the Klingon Empire and Starfleet. Qe’lah was far from enthusiastic, but saw the transfer as a chance to distance herself from the disgrace that followed her. She accepted.

Her first assignment placed her aboard the USS Nihilus, an Excalibur-class starship, where she served for one year as a security and tactical officer. The posting itself was unremarkable, and at its conclusion she returned to the Klingon Defense Force. Her shame deepened upon her return—some of her comrades viewed her exchange as cowardice, while others still judged her for her father’s actions.

Anger and frustration eventually pushed Qe’lah to request a second transfer to Starfleet. She was reassigned to the Nihilus, where the commanding officer at the time, Commander Jerard Carston, proved sympathetic to her situation. He offered her a permanent place among his crew, an offer she accepted. Qe’lah served aboard the Nihilus for seven years, until its eventual decommissioning forced her to seek a new posting within Starfleet.
