Character Background

Personal History Dran had a relatively normal childhood on Bajor. It was when he became an adult that his life became interesting.

At the age of 20 he became a well known figure in the Bajoran Resistance for the final 3 years of the occupation.

One key event during this time, was the explosion of a Cardassian mine in the city of Hathon, a highly populous center of activity. This lead to the death or injury of thousands, and set Dran, and the rest of the resistance, on a course to take revenge on the people holding them.

That wouldn't be easy, however. Dran's girlfriend, Aisa, would be killed at the hands of a Cardassian soldier, during a resistance raid on a work camp. Part of the reason that Dran hates Cardassians, as well as the very reason he advocates for Bajor to have it's own military force.

Once it was over, Dran began to be a mainstream figure in Bajor joining the Federation, but when that failed, he was granted a posting as an Ambassador to the Federation.
Service Record As an Ambassador, Dran was a major proponent of bringing Starfleet to help rebuild after the Occupation, but he also desired that Bajor remain in control and the leaders of the efforts.

He also met an Admiral by name of Eric Shotton during the early years of his Ambassadorship. This friendship would lead to a long term working relationship between Bajor and the Federation, which would include a swapping of intel, tech, and various other means, including funding.

Money would be a key concern amongst both the Federation and Bajor as his time as an ambassador would continue, and some rumors would start to fly.

When he was 38, Dran reportedly resigned as an Ambassador and left Bajor--enrolling in Starfleet Academy. He got in mainly because he provided Admiral Shotton as his reference with a glowing review from the other man.
