Brief Interview with Ms Elisha Pryce-Randal - onboard Ship Reporter

EPR: What is your role on the Elysium? And what does it entail?

I am a staff counselor here aboard the Elysium. My duties entail helping others find solutions
to their problems. Be they mental or physical. It covers the entirety of one's well being. It is
all encompassing.

EPR: What made you choose that line of work?

I find it gratifying to help others overcome their problems and have successful lives and careers. It is quite
rewarding to see someone overcome difficulties that had hampered either their job performance or threatened
to ruin or destroy their home life. We as counselors work hand in hand with the patients. We are partners in the
journey to restore their mental health.

EPR:How do you handle the pressure that comes with being a Starfleet officer?

Vulcan meditation is quite relaxing. It helps with the pressure one faces with the various cases we have as counselors.
Also has I am married talking to my wife is an excellent way for me to relax. I enjoy hearing about her day and what she
did. I also find reading quite relaxing. Of course spending time with my wife is the best form of relaxation I know. Especially
if we just sit together or are watching an old vid.

EPR: What would you say to a cadet aspiring to do what you do?

Give yourself totally to your career and your patients. No half measures. You must be dedicated. You must commit yourself totally
to your patients well being. You are not there to judge. You do not have the luxury to pick and chose you patients. You are there to
help them recover and become productive once again.

EPR: What is your favorite memory of your time at the academy?

I would say the day I received my degree in counseling. I felt quite fulfilled. It reminded me that though I had earned my degree,
and joined the rank of counseling I still had much to learn. even now I am still learning. It is a never ending process to improve
and adapt ones skill to the cases we are presented with.

EPR: Do you have any funny tales to tell about your time on the USS Elysium?

Yes, I do actually. I had to do the psych exam on chief counselor who is my now wife who is the chief counselor here aboard the
Elysium. At the time we were not in a relationship. It was just two counselors doing an exam. Our initial formality with each other
soon melted away and an attraction formed. It was quite fascinating to watch it bloom and grow once we got past the awkwardness
of our positions. It really was quite amusing watching us be so formal around each other. We were like two diplomats! So polite, so
aware of not wanting to say or do anything that might ruin the relationship. I am amazed we even had a second date.

I must say the things I learned and am still learning about my wife were quite illuminating and revealing and it makes my love for her
even stronger. She is not only my best friend but also my trusted confidante. I would be lost without her. I have great trust her opinion.
