There had been a small reception after the last of the caskets had been set amongst the stars. Miraj had stayed to be polite, but found the whole thing too raw, too soon, to stay for long, and went to find somewhere quiet to think.
Somewhere quiet from in the void between decks 14 and 15. It was about 1.2 meters high, not big enough to stand in, and she crawled along until she was a far between the two access points as she could get and sprawled on the bare metal. After a moment she wriggled out of her uniform until she was in nothing but her underwear and let the buzz of the ship wash through her, soothing away the tension and the sense of disconnection. She was back with her ship and all was good.
"Avalon?" she asked, not sure if there were emitters down here, or just her combadge. "Are you there?"
The voice of the AI came to her. "Ensign Derani?" the AI asked "Is there a problem?"
"No. I just wanted to know if you're okay. If those other us-es did anything to you? Like, did they set their Avalon on you or something."
"No. I was locked down by Commander Holmes and Commander Au Vantar. They did not try to attack me. Though they did access the ships main computer,."
"I:m glad you're okay." Miraj put her ands under her head. "What about the rest of you? Nothing gouged out, or stolen?"
"A couple of downloaded crew files but nothing more. And no they didn't even come near my memory core. There were two that did a lot more snooping around than others but they eventually went away."
"Oh,?" Miraj's curiosity was peaked. "Who was that?"
"The duplicates of two Operations officers. Lieutenant Morgan and Lieutenant Gregory's duplicates. They were very.. curious, her more so than him." Avalon replied "She explored most senior officer's cabins, and several junior officer's as well. And she was very insistent in looking into personal logs and such."
"I don;t think I blame her. If our positions were reversed, i would have a good look around their ship, see what they'd done to her. " For a long moment, the boslic hybid just felt the ship around her. She'd taken no damage, having been surrendured and then towed. "Though i probably would have found the pilot and asked them what the hell they were doing. That tractor beam was sloppy."
"Well there was no you there was there, and their Nerinath was a slave to the duplicates of Morgan and Gregory." Avalon replied.
Miraj sniggered. "All their ruthlessness, and they can't find a decent pilot. Sucks to be them. And what about your body. No damage? Nobody tried to cut you open, or blow up your insides? QSD intact?"
"No, no damage in that regards. Engines are fine. You will have no problems engaging the QSD Ensign." the AI's voice held a hint os a smile, those who knew her well could tell. "It is a fun way to travel"
"Warp is dead," Miraj agreed. "And i think we're all going to need some fun round here. An awful lot of fun."
"I believe the captain has that in mind Ensign. Something about surf, sun and sand."
"I'd rather have sun, sky, and stratosphere." Miraj replied, wanting to be flying more than anything. "But I can work with that."
"I hear there are orbital skydiving platforms on Pacifica, as well as parasailing and more. You will find a lot to do that will give you your flying desires i am sure."
Flying without a machine wrapped around her sounded far more dangerous and likely to end in her going splat than she was comfortable with. "I think I'll see if they've got a glider, or a fixed wing craft. Proper old fashioned aerodynamic flight. Old school." She thought abut it. "Ancient school, really. You should come. You'd enjoy it, maybe even get some ideas?"
"Captain's limited me to the ship" came the reply. "AI's are not for going planet side like that crazy EMH from Voyager"
"Really?" Miraj rolled over on to her tummy and laid her cheek on her arms. "I mean its her call. But don't you ever want to ...stretch your legs?"
"I have never thought of it" The AI replied. "I get enough adventures here on this ship."
"That we do." Miraj agreed. "Maybe less adventure would be good. You know, stay in this dimension, and do nothing more dangerous than play chicken with solar flares or the event horizons of black holes."
"I am sure that is what Captain Lalor has in mind." The AI replied. "I heard her comment that she wants a quiet mission."
Miraj laughed. "Well, she's jinxed it now."
