His shift was over and he was never more thankful. He had an appointment to keep. Gary had gone to his quarters cleaned up and changed into civilian clothes. That done he had someone to meet and they needed to have a talk. The someone was one Commander Lia Holmes and the talk was basically how could she come back on board and not tell him? The surprise was nice and completely unexpected but part of him wished he had known. He shook his head, there was no sense being upset and he wasn't it was done and over. Giving himself one final once over in the mirror and satisfied he past inspection. he headed down the corridor to her quarters and rang the chime.

Inside her cabin Lia was dressed in a Yukata, a traditional kind of Japanese clothing. Her socks were pure white and her Geta lay at the door. She knew Gary was on his way, he had said he wanted to talk. She had prepared a small dish of Dango, Dango is a Japanese dumpling and sweet made from mochiko. Gary would no doubt pick his own drink, Lia already had her Coffee in hand as the door chime rang. "Konnichiwa Gary san, please enter", Lia had decided she would re-start her Japanese studies again and Gary just happen to be the first victim.

Standing at Lia's door,Gary heard her voice bidding him to enter. Entering he stopped just inside as the door slid closed behind him. He smiled broadly as he saw her dressed in Japanese clothing. "Picking up where you left off?" He inquired as he crossed the distance between them and aware of the coffee in her hand, he leaned in and kissed her softly. "Welcome back, Lia." His voice thick with emotion.

"You could say that", Lia replied. "What would you like to drink?" She picked up the Dango and offered Gary one, "Here try one if these, three little balls on a skewer so don't go stabbing your self". She giggled as she warned him, "Thanks, its nice to be back. Didn't think I would ever make it, Bashir had a lot of work to do". Placing the Dango onto the table, Lia waited for Gary to comment about them.

Gary looked at the skewer and the balls impaled on it. He bent down to pick the skewer up as he sat on the couch, "Just water please Lia." He answered as he tentatively nibbled on one of balls and found it was sweet, some sort of flour and rice and coated with a chestnut sauce. Taking a bigger bite, he rolled it around in his mouth. Swallowing he eyed her and spoke, "That's not bad. Not bad at all. What do you call this?"

Lia smiled, "Its called Dango, the Japanese eat them as a snack. I found them on DS9, it seems a Japanese woman started to make them when she stayed there. I think she was married to the Chief Engineer, I tried them liked them so I thought?" She gave Gary his water, "You sure this is all you want to drink?" Looking at the water she felt as a hostess she wasn't really cutting it, but then Gary could be as picky as she could.

"Dango." He repeated. "It's good. I like it. Something different. A nice change of pace." He grinned at her, "That was a good thought. Is it hard to prepare?" He accepted his water, "Thank you, yes I'm sure. Water is all I want to drink. I didn't come over here for you to wait on me. Sit down." He said patting the sofa cushion next to him.

She shook her head, "Not to hard, just got to make sure you don't overload. But I'm following a recipe, with luck it turns out ok". She sat down and gave him a sideways glance, "Gary is there a problem between us? You seem as if you have something on your mind, or has my return caused you a problem?" She took a deep breath, "Have you and Liselle become an item? I mean I told you to do that, so if its happened great. But you won't have to worry about me causing any problems between you two, I won't say it won't hurt. But I will and do understand, I promise that much".

Gary sighed and shook his head, "Why do you do that? Assume the worse or assume the worse about me? You've only been gone a month Lia. There's no problem with your return, for heavens sake why would there be? The only problem if you can call it that is why didn't you tells me you were returning? I knew you were on the station, receiving treatment then suddenly no information on you. Then Voila! Here you are." He paused for a moment, "Liselle and I talked but that's all we did. So you aren't causing any problems."

Lia stood up, "I didn't assume anything, I was worried about Liselle and you. As for not having any information about me, that was a number of things". She now moved to the centre of the cabin, "My sudden arrival onboard was down to the Captain, she thought keeping everyone in the dark would be fun. So now we have that out into the open, can we assume it's business as usual? We already have our first disagreement, and over a simple question". She now sat down opposite him and looked him straight in the eye's, "I wanted back because I like it here, lets not argue for now please".

Gary shook his head, "Gosh darn it Lia. Just because I ask you a question doesn't mean we're having a disagreement or an argument." He met her gaze unflinchingly, "I want you back. I'm glad your back." He sighed, "I wasn't arguing."

Looking at Gary, Lia slowly stood up. As she did so the Yukata fell open and dropped from her shoulders, only the obi stopped it falling completely off. " I have changed in one respect, my reluctance to go further has greatly reduced. As you can see, I no longer find situations like this impossible to handle". She pulled the Yukata back up and secured it, " I spoke to Bashir about my problem, he helped me with somethings and now I can commit when I choose to do so". Crossing back to Gary she allowed him to watch her closely, " I once told you when I was ready I would take you further, well now I'm ready. So as they say, the next move is yours".

Gary looked at Lia in unconcealed amazement as her Yukata fell to her waist, revealing her bare frame underneath. He listened as she explained that Dr. Bashir had helped her with her 'problem'. He was curious has to what the good doctor had done but decided not to push it. He heard Lia say she was ready to take their relationship to the next step, to commit. He nodded and stood up and without saying a word moved to her and scooped her into his arms. Once he had and Lia was looking at him, he nuzzled her with his face,then had a question for her, "Which way to the bedroom?"

"The last time I checked, it was through that door". She pointed at the door which led to her bedroom, a space which until now had housed only her. Lia now removed the Yukata and her socks, the obi joined them on the floor. Naked she allowed Gary to explore her body, something which until now she had been reluctant and ashamed to do. With nothing more than a slight tug on his arm, she led him into the bedroom. She kissed him fully and lay down on the bed, " Are you going to just stare at me? Or will you be joining me?"

He kissed her gently yet passionately. As a man would kiss a woman. This was something they both had wanted and waited for now it was here and he wasn't going to rush it. Having Lia lead him into her bedroom,he drank her in as she laid down on the bed and posed her question to him. "Stare right now." He quipped even as he tugged his shirt off then his pants as he hopped on foot. Soon he was as naked as she was. " Now, I'll be joining you." As he laid down beside her.

Lia simply laid quite still and allowed Gary to explore and tease her body, his scent filled her bedroom and seem to fill her also. She nervously touched him intimately, he responded and she couldn't help but let go and cry out in shock. Just how this would turn out worried her, but she had began this journey now she looked to Gary to continue it.
