ON

Lia had been sat in the station departure lounge for around an hour, she had been to see a very special Doctor about her operation. She had checked and then stated that Lia could indeed have the operation straight away, Lia had jumped at the chance. She hadn't told Gary or Phoenix or anyone for that matter, this was something she wanted to keep secret for now. The operation had gone as expected, no problems or hic-ups. Now she was finally able to conceive and carry the child full term, the damage done by her Father had been erased and repaired.

Now she was making her way back to the Elysium, she had been missing for about a week or more. No doubt questions would be asked, but within her hand luggage sat a PaDD with the Doctors letter to Phoenix explaining everything. She would tell Gary herself, though how he would react wasn't a given. He had wanted her to wait and get used to being married first, and she had agreed. But their first night as man and wife had made Lia rethink her response, she knew in her heart of hearts that Gary wanted children and she wasn't able to give him that. Now she was, and Lia hoped that fact would temper his first response to her news.

Lia entered the bar and got herself a Sake, she found a table and sat slowly drinking it. Her shuttle wasn't due yet, so she could now sit and think about what she had undertaken. Her mind tossed thoughts back and forth, as she attempted to forecast how Gary and Phoenix would react to her actions. Her silence might be held against her, but then she also knew that if she had told everyone about her trip several of them would have tried to talk her out of it. Not because they didn't want her to have the operation, but because they would think the same as Gary and have her wait and then have the operation on the ship. Lia hadn't wanted that, so she simply slipped off the ship when she was least missed. Only the time she was missing now presented a problem, an announcement alerted her to her shuttle's arrival she gulped the last of the Sake and moved to the shuttle bay.

A shuttle craft docked and the passengers disembarked, she sat and watched them as they filed past her. She wondered where they all came from and where they were all going? A crew member now appeared and told the waiting embarking passengers they could board, Lia stood up and walked into the shuttle to find her seat. She knew that within the hour she'd be back on the Elysium, just what awaited her weighed on her mind. *I've been gone a week, Phoenix might charge me with being AWOL,* she thought. Pushing that thought to the back of her mind, she watched the shuttle back away from the station and turn for what she called home.

An hour and a half later she stood in the transporter room on the Elysium, she nodded to the duty operator and headed for the Captains ready room. *The sooner we get this over with*, she thought. As she made her way, other crew members pointed and whispered. Her absence had been noticed, and now her return would expose the reasons why the Security Chief simply abandoned her post. Oh well, life was full of ups and downs with luck she'd turn this down around. As she entered the bridge, she noted with relief that Gary wasn't on duty. Slowly with all eye's following her she approached the ready room, she pressed the chime and waited.
