Savar was in his office, he was reviewing his cases and noticed he was overdo in scheduling a follow up meeting with Major Azhul Naxea. He would make a note to send out a reminder to the Major to schedule an appointment. If she did not in an appropriate period of time, he would schedule one for her. That done, he sat back and thought about changes currently going on in his life. He and Alicia had 'adopted' Connor the son of the evil Captain Taylor in the mirror universe. Alicia was also pregnant with their own child. An event he was very much looking forward to.

Then there was Alicia adopting the CMO, Dr. Sthilg, it made him pause as he thought about it. He liked the CMO, found him to be a true professional and highly competent in the medical field. he had a laid back attitude but was passionate about medicine and the care of his patients. A trait he could not fault him on. However what made him think was the adoption and Alicia's reasoning behind it. The Doctor was a Gorn. not a Betazoid or Vulcan or Human. Neither was he a child or a minor.

As he sat he thought and began to see a reason. The CMO was alone. His family dead. Alicia being the compassionate and caring person she was uncomfortable with that and set about to change it, hence the doctor's adoption into their family. It was beneficial for Alicia as well, her father was also dead and this gave her a father figure. Someone she could turn to and ask for advice. It also gave Connor a grandfather, someone in addition to himself and Alicia who would love the boy unconditionally and who would also undoubtedly fill the boy's head with stories about serving in the Klingon Defense Force.

He nodded to himself as he continued to think on the topic. The decision was extremely logical even though on the face of it it was extremely illogical. However, everyone seemed pleased with it. Connor adored the Gorn. Alicia as well was happy and had no problem in calling the Gorn Dad. It was a title he was uncomfortable using with the Gorn. The Gorn was not his father, they were not related by marriage or any other way other than Alicia's adoption of the doctor.

He did not want to create any problems with Alicia or with the doctor. Further analysis gave him an answer. Even though he accepted the fact of the doctor being Alicia's father on a conscious level, his subconscious had difficulty accepting the relationship. Was he jealous of the Gorn's relationship with Alicia? Indeed not. She was his wife and the mother of their children. So that was not a factor. He thought some more and came up with a reason. It seemed he had been replaced as the person to ask for an opinion, with Alicia deferring to the doctor, to ask what he thought on a variety of topics. It was as if he had been replaced as head of the family and the doctor had become the de facto head.

Further thought revealed he was the problem and not the doctor. His pride and ego had been bruised. This was unacceptable and he vowed to be more sociable to the doctor. After all they were all family.
