Olivia had been working on several reports as usual that got sent to not only her immediate boss, but also on up the chain of command to Starfleet Medical. She had finished up everything that needed to be done right then and even a couple extra items that weren’t due until the following week. Some days were better than others when it came to her work load, but that appeared to be the same for a lot of people since the most recent mission. It was another rough one that everyone was having to work through everything that had happened to them. Some were handling it better than others, but there was still a lot to be done for everyone to move onto something new and hopefully better for everyone. The crew was in need of something good happening for them for a change instead of all the suffering that everyone had been through over the last few months.
After finishing up her shift and sending the reports that need to be sent, Olivia headed out of Sickbay for some downtime. Today along with the last few days had been working over to get stuff done that was behind a little and getting caught up on other things at the same time. It had been awhile since she had been to the holodeck so Olivia had booked a little time for one of the holodecks to have a little fun for a change. Olivia stopped by her quarters just long enough to change out of her duty uniform before heading to the holodeck that she had booked.
When Olivia arrived at the holodeck, she debated on if she wanted to still do what she had decided on for her program this time or change it to something different. She had originally planned on for this trip into the holodeck. It had been a long time since she had gone ice skating, but it had also been along time since she had gone horse back riding. It was a hard decision to make, but Olivia decided to stick with her original choice of doing a bit of ice skating during this session. She could book time later on for a round of horse back riding in the country or on a beach somewhere.
Olivia pulled up the program for the ice skating rink and entered the holodeck when it was ready for her. Going over to one of the benches, Olivia sat down and started working putting on her ice skates. After getting the ice skates on and laced up, Olivia stood up carefully and walked over to the edge of the rink. Once there, she lifted each foot to take off the protective covering for the blades and stepped onto the ice.
Olivia took it easy for the first few minutes out on the ice since it had been awhile since she had been ice skating. She did a few laps around the rink just skating for some warm up time before doing anything else. After a few rounds, Olivia worked her way towards the center of the ice rink and went from there on seeing how well she remembered some of her moves from back before joining the Academy when she used to compete in ice skating. She had fun back then during the competitions for ice skating and had learned a lot during that time and even made a few friends. During one of the competitions, she had been attempting a newer move for her in the routine and it didn’t go well. Olivia ended up with a back injury and injuring her neck when she missed her landing and crashing into the rink wall during her routine. Olivia started off with some of the basics she learned and went from there on her skills. Some were better than others and that was due to not having ice skated in such a long time. She would have to make a point of doing this a bit more often to brush up on her skills once more.
