With the ginger tea seemingly have done some good for now Kara made her way to see Lily, she just hoped Mattias wouldn’t be hanging around when she got there. Reaching the door she pressed the chime and waited for an answer.

"come!" Lily called out. She was reading a comms from her sister.

Walking in Kara smiled as she looked at Lily. “Lily I... I need to err...” She paused finding it awkward just to come out and say it. “I’m five weeks pregnant! There I said it!” She grinned a sheepish grin. “Matt doesn’t know yet, and I want to keep it that way for now.”

"Pregnant?" Lily's head came up. "Does Malakai know? I assume he is the father?" She smiled.

Kara nodded. “Yes, he knows and yes, he is. He’s over the moon about it. I don’t want to be worrying Mattias, hence why I haven’t told him yet. Plus the fact he doesn’t know how long I’ve been seeing Malakai on and off up until now. I know Matt will be pissed when he finds out I’ve been keeping this from him. Rather that than have him distracted.”

"Ah" Lily smiled. "And you want me to be the distraction?" she leaned back in her chair and waved Kara to the couch. "I like distracting Matt, as you know, but I am not sure I can distract him that much."

“Oh no... I wasn’t going to ask you to do anything like that” Kara offered a smile. “I just wanted to make sure you knew. I hope it doesn’t make planning for this assignment a nightmare, at least you and I are together on the next trip to gather intel.”

Lily nodded. "Yes and as it stands, I was going to keep you out of combat anyway, being a medic."

Kara nodded. “I thought you might, especially after my last trip off ship.” She sighed. “Matt’s promised me he won’t seek revenge, but I don’t think that’s the whole truth.”

"With Matt? Of course it isn't. But he wont do anything for the moment. And If we get this done and fixed, once everyone is back to their normal lives, then I will work out a way to keep him busy and not thinking about revenge."

Kara grinned. “Of that I'm certain. Can I ask you something? Do you have a position aboard the Elysium I could fill? I have no doubt Matt has probably already asked you about transferring.”

"We have a very large Medical contingent if you wish to join. What about Malakai?"

“I’ll talk to him, I just... want to be somewhere I feel at home, and Funnily enough that’s with you.”

Lily smiled. "The Elysium is a big family as well. Everyone protects everyone else."

“My current ship is like that, but I’ve come to realise that it’s not where my heart lies. If I return there I’d have to wait to be reassigned with Malakai, who knows how long that would take!”

"If we pull this off, we will all have the brass owe us a big on Kara," Lily replied. "Who knows? Maybe Malakai will have enough points for his own command."

“If he does then that’s where I’ll be, but for now I’ll wait and see.” Kara grinned. “So how are things between you and Mattias?”

"Oh you know, we get along great as normal. Have yet to have a fight but I am sure that is coming." Lily smirked. "Your brother is not happy with me."

“Oh? May I ask why not?” Kara looked at Lily curiously.

"I paired him up with Malakai. I think he is just a bit pissy about it." Lily smirked.

Kara grinned. “Naturally! Malakai will be feeling exactly the same.”

"They need to learn to play nice." Lily smiled. "They will have to deal."

Kara nodded. “Agreed. As much as I hate hiding this pregnancy from Matt, if I tell him he’ll be leaping in at every opportunity to protect me, and that will piss off Malakai so they’ll end up fighting...” she sighed. “Men!”

"Indeed. They will live." Lily replied.

Kara nodded. “Thank you for this Phoenix, I know I’m asking a lot of you but it’s only temporary.”

"You better tell him soon Kara. If he finds out you kept it a secret..."

“I will, I promise!” Kara offered a smile. “I just need some time that’s all.”

"I believe you. Now go celebrate with Malakai okay?"

Kara nodded. “I will” With that she offered a warm smile and headed on her way.

Lily watched her go and then set about preparing for Mattias' arrival.
