Timeline: After this mission.
653 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure

Katherine walked into sickbay looking for Sthilg. Dressed formally in a blouse, women's suit, and skirt. She looked around the sickbay for a bit.. Looking for Sthilg. A light tapping on a glass viewport got Sthilg's attention.

The gorn looked up from the small mountain of paperwork he'd been working on and gave her a polite smile. " Hello my dear what can I do for you today?"

Katherine spoke. "Suffice to say. I'm looking for a new job. Even though I've come to see money doesn't exist in this strange place I and the other refugees have stumbled into, and I'm also taking sabbaticals into xeno-medicine. Suffice to say I am interested in an internship. I was a qualified surgeon on New Cannan, one of the best in my field before my husband ran afoul with the government." She noted. "But now I truly want to build a life for myself in this United Federation of Planets. The Audacity... Eugenic enhancers are illegal even on my world. That bastard Green betrayed not only your Federation, but his own people by using them."

The gorn chuckled slightly as he pointed to the seat opposite him. " Well, your in luck my freind. Ssstarfleet allowsss internssshipsss though from a none member world you will need sssome to sssponce you into ssstarfleet. " The gorn said as he pulled out an empty padd to start writing one.

"I'd be grateful if you would Doctor... I'm kinda finding it... Ritualistic to leave New Canaan.." Katherine noted. "I burned my drivers license the other day... And everything that came from that world. Unbelievable... the Eugenic Enhancers."

" What were they exactly?" The doctor inquired. " Mossst didn't sssurvive for usss to study."

"They were weapons.. designed and built by the Military's Scientists." Katherine mentioned. "You see... in the years after planetfall. The government made all scientists renounce the Oath of Hippocrates for the greater good. They made us swear oaths that flew in the face of every ethical practice of medicine and science. But some of us took the oath of scientists just to prevent from being discredited, then renounced it in private, and then swore the oath of hippocrates once again." Katherine mentioned. "I was one of those, as was my father and husband.. They tried to make me renounce it too. Then they sterilized me so my faulty genes couldn't spread my 'weakness.' Thank God I had Jaden before that happened.. Because I will have no other sons or daughters."

" My dear you happen to be talking to one of the galaxy'sss finessst ssspecialissstsss in maternal-fetal medicine and gynecologic oncology. If you want more children i will move heaven and earth to help you overcome that problem." The gorn said calamly.

"That would be wonderful." Katherine noted. "I also am working on methods to correct our refugee's genetic problems. Fortunately, I have much more human genetic material to work with now. Unfortunately... Well... I have to use a type of genetic therapy to correct both mine and Jaden's genetic structure. I do not desire to entertain the madness that created Khan." Katherine noted. "But without treatments to stabilize his genome... Jaden with have a rough life. I don't want him to experience that. I want him to grow up in the Federation."

" I'll have to run it through ssstarfleet command. The federation is very ssseriousss about it's none genetic engineering polcicy. It'sss why sssome world haven't joined the federation." The gorn explained.

Katherine responded. "This is not genetic enhancement per say. I have no intention of producing augments. What this is.. is preventing myself from getting Alzheimer's by thirty. I do intend to pass off what I propose with Starfleet Medical. Despite the opposition I might recieve. I would very much not like Jaden's children to be still-births because of his genetics."

" If you run the date it by me i'll do my best to help. " Sthilg said ressuringly.
