Ed followed his hull map on the P.a.d.d. The Chief of Science, was past the star gazers, or what they called Stellar Cartography. It was a maze, he had been weaving in and out of hydroponics, and labs. Finding a door marked "Do not disturb!" He checked his P.a.d.d. Yes, it was the right door. He knocked...hopefully he was not disturbing a mad scientist. Wait, if they was a mad scientist, did that mean they had a control group of people not being tortured. yep that would do it... two rooms next to one and another, one getting served to mad scientists, the other getting served tea and haggis!

Dr. Nevada McKay looked up from her console a worn, tired expression plastered on her face as she Struggled to ground herself in the present. "Who the Fuck knocks..." she grumbled under her breath as a status alert flashed through her optic nerve, the Swarms of Nanites that were infesting her blood delivering a dose of Ocytocin unbidden as a flicker of frustration and anxiety managed to slip past the Barrage of Chemicals they were pumping her full of. "Come in," she said as she thumbed the Control Console.

Ed said "Greetings, I am Edward Garnla Gnomomer Chel'Sata, from the House of EL, line of D'Graceful ... but just call me Ed."

Nevada's face twisted into a scowl for just a brief moment before the effort grew to much for her weary mind. "I'm Dr. McKay," she said with a slow nod. "I'm the ACSO and head of Biological Research, Is there something I Can Help you With..?" she asked, her voice sounding simultaneously relaxed, stressed, and exhausted.

Ed said " I have several trouble calls here. In no particular order, the Botany lab is complaining of excess humidity, coming in from..." Ed had to pause to look down on one of his many P.a.d.d.'s. "The encrustation lab?" He continued, "You have an environmental systems upgrade scheduled that should fix that problem. Next is The Botany labs complaining about excess wind shear..." Ed looked up from his P.a.d.d. then asked. "Why would they steel the wind shear from the extreme weather lab? Did some one play a practical joke on them?"

"I wasn't aware we had an extreme Weather Lab..." Nevada said as she turned around to glance over her Status board. "I so rarely get out of Medical and Xenobiology."

Ed said, "I totally understand, Engineering covers, power generation, distribution, Equipment that every one uses in everything, propulsion, warp field maintenance, computer maintenance of both the processor an circuitry, distribution of said information in the network, maintenance of said network, Holographic systems, tractor beams, transporter systems, sensors probes, weaponry, deflector, hull systems, life support , shield and a ton of auxiliary systems. Then you have materials science and engineering, new ways to come up with new equipment. Then there is BIO-Engineering, everything above and now you mixing in living organic components. I am not even going to get into Sub-space engineering. The Math in that is a nightmare." Ed took a breath, and continued, "It's hard to be a expert in everything, we tend to have general knowledge in the basics, and specialize in a few area's. I only have three areas of specialization, because I have to know so much about everything in general."

"I wasn't Originally science department," she muttered quietly as she watched him cautiously. "I started out as a Trauma surgeon and General care Medical doctor." she shifted in her seat as she glanced back towards her console. "I was moved to science because of radical theories and research and development."

"I picked on of my engineering disciplines, because, I have a few radical theories about how sub space interacts with our power distribution in warp, and I think we are running around broadcasting all kines of signals in the higher bands of subspace, My research paper, was snatched up by someone in section 31. I am assuming, because it was classified, and hidden! But C'est la vie."

Nevada's brow Quirked up at the mention of Section 31. "What the hell is that?" she asked softly, her voice low and hushed.

Ed looked around and said"What was what?" still looking around, he wondered just what he had missed having his nose berried in his Padd.

"What is section 31?" she asked with a narrow scowl . "I've never heard of anything like that..."

Ed smiled and said, " My brother is a conspiracy nut, he blames this mysterious section 31 for anything that is unexplained, anything from little green men, which I always thought it was the Orion slave syndicate, playing pranks, to missing Starfleet command personnel.

I told him he is nutz, but there is always one if every family!"

T'Kara entered. "Hello."

Nevada glanced To the Vulcan. "Commander..." she said with a terse nod, her gaze narrowing into a tight slit with barely contained Disdain.

Ed glanced up at the new arrival, said, "Good morning!" to be polite, then looked back to Dr. Mckay, "About your subspace theories, do you think the the boundaries that separate us from them, are permeable and allow a lot more stuff through than what main stream science says, because I think , that ghosts, and spirits, and just bleed over effects from other dimensions. What is your take?"

Any answer to Ed's question, along with the secrets of the universe, would have to wait, as his communicator went off, with the sounds of alarms in the back ground, and a slightly panicky voice requested the AEO's return to main Engineering. Ed said,"Just when I was about to get down to solving the mysteries of the universe.... Well got to run..."

Ed smiled, waived, and tried not to appear to be running for the door. As much as he tried to make it look like a unconcerned power walk. The fact that his short legs were moving fast gave it away...
