Olivia had heard that S'hib had finally gotten back onboard the Elysium, but for some reason hadn't taken the time to come by Sickbay to check in since his extended absence, so she made sure to pay him a surprise visit to check up on him and let him know that someone at least cared to check up on him. Olivia had been missing S'hib when he would make his rare trips to visit in Sickbay. She knew that he would usually make his visits when Commander Sthilig was busy with other duties.
Olivia had finished up the main duties she needed in Sickbay earlier and had headed out to make a few rounds to check up on certain crew members that had not been by for their check up's for various reasons. Once she had headed out of Sickbay, Olivia headed in the direction to check up on S'hib first to see how he was doing and to ensure that he was doing alright.
S'hib meanwhile was exercising, running on a treadmill inside the small private gym, tucked away near the back of the office with the phaser range and locker rooms.
His gait was somewhat misaligned with his left arm lacking the will to keep up, still incredibly sore from the healing bones inside, Still, he was keeping up an impressive speed as his hooves thumped along, the treadmill track showing obvious signs of heavy use and in dire need of replacing.
"Olivia?" He snorted, looking up to see her standing in the doorway to his front left. "Thought I locked the door..." He smiled, continuing to run after lowering the speed, trying to make room in his lungs for a conversation as well.
Olivia smiled a little as she looked up at S'hib. "I still have access even if you did lock the door, big guy," Olivia replied. "I'm one of a very select few that has such access." Olivia stepped on into the room. "Is there a reason why you're avoiding coming by to visit me?"
He stared at her for a short while, nostrils flared as he continued to run. "I'm not avoiding," S'hib finally replied, turning his head to face front once more. "Just taking things a little slower is all... last few months have been nonstop for me." He added, flicking his eyes back at Olivia.
"You know the rules big guy," Olivia replied. "Besides I thought you liked it that I made sure to keep a few treats on hand just for your visits. Plus, I never pressured you into having your visits with a certain Commander each time you came by for your visits."
"I do know the rules, I just don't care about them right now, Olivia..." He snorted, finally slapping the controls on his treadmill, slowly running to a stop and giving her his full attention. "But, just so you stop worrying, I'm planning on going to see Doctor Sthilg with the Sequus delegation later on." He continued, stepping off the treadmill while rolling his left shoulder, his muscles aching around the healing bones.
"You know I'm going to worry no matter what, big guy," Olivia replied. "It's what friends do. Plus, if I didn't check up on you every so often then I would have a certain marine raising hell so to speak because you weren't taken care of properly. Now sit down over here so that I can check over that shoulder of yours."
He recoiled his arm away, snorting at her. "I'm fine, Olivia" he snapped somewhat louder than intended while clicking away, the heavy thumps of his grumpy hooves taking him towards the rest of his uniform hanging on the wall. "There is nothing you can do to help anyway, my physiology is complicated and beyond the scope of an osteogenic stimulator..." He continued, physically wincing as he outstretched his arm and slide it into the long leave of his uniform.
"It will heal, it just needs... time..." He finished, speaking much quieter as he leaned his head against the wall, his right hand balled into a fist lightly jabbing at the bulkhead before turning and leaning his back against the wall.
Olivia walked over to where S'hib was leaning against the wall and stopped in front of him. She looked up at him and smiled slightly as she lightly tapped him in the chest a few times. "Did you even consider that there might be an alternative that could possibly help you out some with that arm of yours?," Olivia asked. "Now sit your tail down so that I can check you over."
The sequence of noises that left his nostrils showed his disapproval despite the fact he still did as he was told, sitting down on a nearby bench. "If you must insist on helping, then just some pain relief will do..."
"Fuss at me all you want, big guy," Olivia replied. "I'm still going to do what I can to ensure that you get full use of your arm back." She reached up and worked her hands over S'hib's shoulder and upper arm to check it over. Every so often she would add a little extra pressure and kneed it some to see how it would react if at all. "Have you tried some deep tissue massage on your shoulder to see if it would help any?"
"No, just been resting it since the surgery..." He replied, lifting his left arm up slightly. "I had a compound fracture... here," S'hib added as he tapped his forearm with a finger. "torn ligaments and muscle damage up to my shoulder..." He finished, twisting his wrist and flexing his fingers slowly. "Just aches."
"Resting it is good, but you will need to gradually build your strength back up in the shoulder and arm," Olivia replied. "Also, doing a bit of alternating of the deep massage in the shoulder and upper arm with some stimulation couldn't hurt any either." Olivia continued to check the shoulder over some before moving down the arm a bit to check it over as well.
"Maybe... just don't want to be a burden, I'm sure it will be fin~" He replied, yelping as her fingers pressed down on his forearm.
Olivia looked up when S'hib yelped a bit at the pressure on his forearm. "Sorry about that big guy," Olivia replied as she let up on the pressure some on his forearm. "You wouldn't be a burden by coming by to get checked over. "I can give you a bit of pain medication to help, but I don't want you to become to dependent on the use of it. That is why I am suggesting some of the alternative treatments to help you out some. That way you only use the pain medication when it absolutely needed."
"Thankfully the only thing I'm addicted to are the treats you keep on hand, probably why I keep getting myself hurt..."
Olivia softly laughed a bit. "You don't have to keep getting hurt in order to come by for the treats, big guy," Olivia replied. "You could just as easily get some of the treats when you stop by on patrol."
"I do... In and out before anyone notices, getting quite good at stopping the clicks." He grinned as he quickly tapped his hooves on the floor.
Olivia smiled a little as she looked up at S'hib. "You could also take the time to visit for a few minutes once in a while," Olivia replied. "How else am I going to know if I need to change up the treats for you every so often."
"Well, I did like that pink fruit you had in the bowl that one time, though it did stain my coat..." He mused, wriggling his lips at the memory.
"Now see now I know to add that particular fruit in the bowl every so often for you, big guy," Olivia replied. "Along with maybe keeping a towel on hand to help ensure it doesn't stain your coat in the future."
"I had to use my tail last time..." He laughed.
"Can't have you doing that every time, big guy," Olivia replied with a slight laugh. "We don't want your tail turning another color unless it is something you are interested in doing for your special lady or for a certain little blue berry the next time we do get to see her."
He was quiet for a while, thinking about the little Andorian before looking up at Olivia. "I'll try to stop by more, or at least say hello when I do."
Olivia smiled a little as she reached one hand over and lightly rubbed S'hib's nose a bit. "We all miss our little blue berry," Olivia replied. "I miss being able to give her some baking lessons and then deliver the cookies to friends like you big guy."
"Nothing stopping you from baking anyway." He replied, wriggling his nose.
"True, but it was fun seeing our little blueberry having fun learning how to make the cookies and wanting to put all the chocolate chips into some of the cookies that were made during the lessons," Olivia replied. "I had a few other baking lessons planned for down the road as well, but those will have to be put on hold for a later date hopefully." Olivia rubbed S'hib's nose a little more. "I better get the rest of my surprise rounds done and let you get a little more work done yourself. Just remember to stop by a little more often big guy."
