With Cragen safely restrained and under guard Kara had made her way straight home, her head was filled with mixed thoughts and feelings. Did she take too big a risk? Nothing had become of it, in-fact Cragen had proved that he did have a good side.

Malakai came in a few minutes later. "Hi." He said simply as he went into another part of their quarters. He was upset that Kara couldn't see the danger and more importantly that he was trying to protect her.

Kara followed behind. “Is that it? Just hi?” She stood looking at Malakai. “I know I was stupid, but I...didn’t sense any threat from him. I did have the phaser you gave me to hand at first, until I was sure.”

"Hi Kara." Malakai replied, hoping to lower the tension just a tad. "Kara, I love you, I love your goodness and trusting nature. Just not with Cragen. Have you given any thought he was playing you? To get you on his side to use against us."

“I gave it that thought, yes” Kara nodded. “But he never lied to me, not once. At least not that I could tell. Betazoids can’t usually sense El Aurians, but when I’m in close vicinity to Cragen I can.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, I just needed to know if that would happen to me! As it is...Cragen seems to think that I’ll most likely outlive you. Not as long as him just a few extra decades.” She sank into a nearby chair. “I can’t...imagine my life without you and our child, or children, in it!”

Malakai's anger dissipated in an instant as he moved to Kara's side "Kara, don't think about that. Think about the time we have together. How precious that time is and make the most of it. Think about being a family and seeing our baby's first smile, hearing it's first giggle, seeing it's first step. Watching them grow and become an adult." He kissed her gently. "I love you Kara. I'm sorry for getting mad but I don't want you getting hurt."

Kara nodded as she wrapped her arms around Malakai and lay her head on his chest. “I’m sorry for not being cautious enough! You’re right, I could have gotten myself hurt. The last thing I want to do is harm our baby.” She held onto him, he was one of the only things besides Matt that truly made her feel better. “I won’t take any more risks I promise!”

Malakai hugged her tightly. Kara was his world and he would do everything in his power to protect her. He leaned back to look at her. "Don't change Kara. Be the kind, loving, caring and compassionate person you are. Just don't rush in where angels fear to tread." He tapped her forehead gently. "Think a bit before doing something that could be dangerous to you."

“I know, I’ve always been one to jump in with both feet.” Kara grinned. “Cragen was so...open with me, he answered my questions. He told me he wouldn’t hurt any of you because he knew it would hurt me.”

Malakai was unconvinced about Cragen's openness. "Hmm. Maybe Kara, I just don't know. I just know the pain he's caused Arri and Josephine and speaking of which he flatly refuses to return Josie to us. So, so much of his goodwill."

“I know” Kara nodded. “What worries me is that she’s pregnant. I can’t put a pregnant woman through the purge that we put through Arri though, god knows what it would do to her child!”

"Kara, she can't stay with Cragen. That is out of the question. She has to be returned and reunited with Arri for both their sakes. Perhaps Arri's people can help purge her mind without harming the baby." Malakai replied firmly.

“Perhaps” Kara nodded. “As long as she doesn’t lose the baby. That child is family to me too.”

"That goes without saying Kara. I feel the exact same way." Malakai answered.

“Of course” Kara nodded. “I’m sorry, I’m not giving any thought to how you feel am I?”

Malakai smiled and gave her a quick hug. "Kara, it's okay. You have a lot on your mind."

Kara nodded. “You’re right I do.” She sighed. “Life was so uncomplicated before all this, now it feels a whole lot more complicated.”

"That's true but you know what? You aren't alone. I'm here for you just like you are for me and as long as we have each other we can overcome anything." Malakai replied with confidence.

Kara nodded. “I think we’ve both proved that, the number of times we separated and came back together again. You know how much I love you.”

Malakai nodded. "I do indeed know and I hope you know how much I love you and we're together for the long haul now Kara. No more breaking up." Malakai replied.

Kara nodded. “Definitely no more break ups! You married me, now you’re stuck with me!” She cuddled him giving him a loving kiss. “Once all this is over I need to talk to your sister about Ezri.”
