*CONTENT WARNING. TORTURE OF A MINOR*

The smell of burning flesh was a pre-warning that was soon followed by ear shattering screams. Screams that had lasted hours this time. Screams that were only interrupted by the sobbing pleas that the torture end.

Down the lightless hall was a room made of stone, cold, hard stone. In the center of the room with his wrists secured in cuffs to a table top, was a small boy covered in red welts from his knuckles to his elbows. His skin was bubbled and blistering over top of old poorly healed wounds. Some bled while others oozed like pools of melted skin.

His head hung low as he struggled to breath through the pain, normally by now he would have passed out. The reality that he was still enduring this nightmare caused another sob to take over.

“You know how to stop this, Korvic.” The older woman said. She stood directly in front of the small boy, towering over him like he were but an ant.

“I—I tried,” Korvic braced himself knowing that excuses only ever earned him more pain.

The woman held a small metal stick that glowed white at the end. The tool was meant to weld metals together, but Korvic knew it as something far worse. She was still, not moving forward to press the burning hot tip to his already damaged skin. She was silent, and still.

After a few moments Korvic chanced a look up, his eyes filled with hope that this session was over. Not that it would be the last time, there was no end to this for him. Not unless he did as he was asked, a task proving to be more and more difficult.

“I’m sorry.” His voice came out weak, pitiful.

Without warning the end of the metal pole was pressed against his wrist firmly. It sizzled where heat met skin and Korvic yelled out until the pole was removed from his skin. Leaving a bright red spot bubbling all around its edge. Korvic pulled against his restraints to no avail. A mouse caught in a trap.

The woman crouched down until she was eye level with Korvic. Her obsidian irises bore into his. His filled with sorrow and pain. Hers with utter disappointment and disdain. When she spoke her voice made the remaining hair on his forearms stand.

“This family will not suffer from a talentless pig. You’re a Kellion, your abilities need only to be awoken, but you resist.” She said, her voice giving away a small hint of sadness. It was gone before Korvic had time to register that it was ever there. “Until you learn to hone your abilities we will continue these sessions.“

She then stood to her full height and turned to leave the room. Korvic’s head popped up in realization it was finally over, but then dread and fear set in as she continued to walk away, leaving him in the cold stone room alone.

“GRANDMA NOOOOO.” He yelled after her, a sob cutting through his scream. “PLEASE NO.”

When Tora Kellions steps could no longer be heard he knew it was only a matter of seconds before the lights dimmed and he was left alone in the cold dark basement layer of his family home. Alone to suffer and wish he had never been born.
