Ed was worried, he had heard rumors of someone messing with time, or a time jumper messing with things on their ship. if someone messed with time, then things could get un-done. The worst thing was you would never know what you were missing. What if you lost the love of your life, or the one thing that was important was removed from your time stream.

So sat at his heads-up display console. To say his personal console was upgraded was to say that the Galaxy-class starship, was a fancy captain's yacht. It was good for getting around. He had maxed out everything he could. His heads-up holo display sometimes gave him headaches. He had discovered that he had had to keep it at less than 300 degrees to keep from being admitted to medical for a couple of days. He sat there trying to keep from rushing. Everything was tracked nowadays, all of your keystrokes were recorded, and anyone with a high enough access level could spy on anyone. As long as he kept his inquiry's generic, then he was safe. He had heard of people disappearing from finding out too much. Then there was this mysterious section 31. His Brother had access and would vanish for long periods of time. Some of the stories he would tell. His admittance to Section 31 was one of his most told stories.

It seemed that he was still carrying a grudge, their family history, was complicated, They started out on a class H planet named Tau Cygna V. Then there was a brief military confrontation with a star fleet officer named Data. Then the colony was forcibly relocated to Solarian Prime. It seems that the Shelliak Corporate had a treaty with Starfleet that they owned all the Class H planets in the universe. Humankind could not live in toxic Class H worlds, so what did Starfleet care if the Sheliak Corporate killed of life forms living on them.

So His brother Hex'EL spent 3 years making contacts and dooing favors, to change one paragraph in the Master plan of the Sheliak Corporate. This master plan was disseminated to every Cruiser that was in their fleet. The updates came every 300,000 of their seconds. The Update had them move their colony off of Tau Cygna V and change their designation to a Class M world. This got the attention of Starfleet, who wanted to find out just who was clever enough to fool a race of computers. Turns out changing programming was what his brother was good at. He was suttle and had finesse. Ed preferred the brute force approach, but in this case, he had to borrow a page out of his brother's playbook.

He started his search on forces that affected time. There were numerous papers written on the effects of gravitational waves and their effect on time. So he started there. He had previously found out about ds9/ Bajoran wormhole aliens called the prophets. The Prophets were outside of the time-space continuum. and the only thing that affected them was chronitron radiation. So he had to be careful, he did not want to change the very thing he was trying to protect. Then there was the Q, they manipulated time, space, and everything else for their amusement. The Q only had one natural enemy and it was the El-Aurian. His research had led to only two significant people of that long-lived race. Neither was around to be questioned.

So what to do. He had Nine hours till his watch began in Engineering. Everything he could think of would not let him know that something had changed in the time stream. Anything that recorded data in this universe was affected by the time stream. So changes in the time stream would change the recorded data. He kept coming back to the Chronitron radiation and the El-Aurian's. There had to be a way to duplicate the effect that the El-Aurian's had with time streams using Chronitron radiation. If there was, Section 31 would have restricted that information. In addition, they would be looking for people who were getting too close to the truth. He would have to speak to his brother, somewhere that they could not be recorded or overheard. This would require a delicate touch. He hated delicate things. He hated Fragile. He was the bull in the china shop.

He started a letter to his brother. He would use a formal accent, which alone would ensure the message was taken seriously.

To: Dex'EL D'gracefull
From: Edward Garnla Gnomomer Chel'Sata, from the House of EL, line of D'Graceful
subj: Guinan's aunt guinans chili recipe.

He Dex, lost a bet. Do you have the recipe for aunt guinans killer chili recipe? I have to feed a party of 30 or so hungry engineers.

thanks, Ed
End trans

He watched as the message showed the status of sent, and after a few minutes, delivered. He was tired and had a headache, hopefully, one of his brothers would figure out his message and arrange a meeting. He sat on his bed and fell over, asleep even before his head hit his pillow.
