Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Victor’s Office
Timeline: 7h30
595 words - 1.2 OF Standard Post Measure

Victor was reading up on the history since he had been born as he felt it was important to understand what was different from what recalled. He was trying to find about a subgroup of the species Aquans called Sirens. Over a hundred and thirty years, the USS Enterprise came upon the Aquans. The Aquans without consent transformed a few crew members into water breathers. Fortunately for them, they were able to find the antidote from venom of a particular snake.

After the incident, the planet were visited by non Starfleet transport ships as several humans found love with the Aquans creating a sub group of Aquans called Sirens. These Sirens had the ability breathe underwater as well as breathe air. The transport ships crews settled with the Aquans.

Victor noticed in the Starfleet Catalog of Alien Races there was a distinct distinction between Aquans and Aquanis. It was confusing back at the Academy but fortunately for him, there were a couple students who were Sirens who became his friends. Unfortunately for Victor, the counterparts in this reality did not know him.

After the reading, Victor met a new Engineer named Ensign Lorelei Dee who was a Siren. She was replacing Ensign Antonio Smith. Antonio had to go back to Puerto Rico due to the death of his father. Antonio was one who worked on the Gamma Shift.

Victor smiled seeing Lorelei because in the other reality, he knew her big brother Hamilton Dee and he had met her counterpart when she was fourteen years old.

“Ensign Dee,” Victor asked respecting her customs, “May I call you Lorelei?”

“Yes Lieutenant,” Lorelei eyebrow went up. “I take it you are well versed in my people’s customs.”

“Yes,” Victor nodded. “Your people as you call the Sirens, you follow the rules of propriety. I wish more did because it would make life easier. I know the reasons why but let us not discuss it because those delicate matters. If any one ever here does not respect you, please bring it to my attention and I will make sure they receive sensitivity training.”

“I shall and thank you Sir,” Lorelei replied. “I read your file Sir. May I ask you about what I read?”

“By all means,” Victor replied.

“So you are a result of someone breaking the Temporal Prime Directive and you use to be in a different reality,” Lorelei asked.

“Yes and yes,” Victor said, “In the other reality, your brother Hamilton was one of my best friends and I met you only once.”

“Ah that is what I gathered,” Lorelei blushed. “Hamilton is serving on the USS Windsong. He is a Lieutenant Commander and the Executive Officer.”

“Well he did have the leadership qualities as well where I came from,” Victor answered. “Any other questions?”

“Not about the past Sir,” Lorelei breathed a bit. “So I will be on the Gamma Shift and I will be working with teleporters, hologram emitters and replicators?”

“Yes,” Victor replied. “We might have you doing more in the future.”

“That would be swell Sir,” Lorelei said as she facepalms herself for a moment. “I can’t believe I just said swell. On the way over here, there was this Cimmander who kept saying it.”

Victor was taken back for a moment. “Quiet alright. My assistant Alice will show you to your quarters. I hate to cut this meeting short but I do have to go to a briefing.”

“Understood Sir,” Lorelei stood up as Victor did. After she gave him a salute, Alice brought her to her quarters.
