Timeline: Alindari Defense Force HQ
535 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure

Admiral Davas Hertac an Vantar spoke towards his colleagues. "The Federation may have objections towards us fielding such an aggressive ship in such numbers."

Javak Abana an Falar, The Acamedician of the Defense College spoke. "We need a ship for sole defensive purposes, Admiral. Right now, our world is a week away from the nearest Federation Starbase. We are a Federation member world; yes, but our strategic defensive posture, within the typhon expanse requires this vessel. What will we do if the Romulans decide to take our world by force? Surrender? It would be a bloodbath and the Defense Force knows it.

They looked at the prototype; a sleek, yet deadly escort vessel. two pulsed polaron disruptors on the nacelle pylons near the warp core. two photon torpedo bays near the hull and one polaron lance. All weapons that came from the defense college's borg research division. "The Tirielle Class Escort is just that, a patrol vessel. We could have built a fleet of cruisers and destroyers, thus raising concern with the Federation Council, but instead we choose to design and build the Tirielle class. These are not long-range capital ships, but escort vessels like the Federation's Defiant class. The Federation Council will understand that it would take a Federation task force a whole week to reach our world, and the Vulcans and Andorians do maintain their own planetary defense forces." The Acamedician noted.

"There still might be some concern in the Federation." The Admiral countered.

"We can involve Starfleet in all levels of deployment of the Tirielle Class. They know the last Borg cube came from this area of space. So it's, what is that charming human phrase, common-sense. The Federation can defend us, but the Federation can defend us better if we stand for the Federation."

"I see your point. The Federation Council will see it as well. But the diplomats. They may be an obstacle. We've noticed at times that if their words were water, the diplomats could drown us with rhetoric. I've found diplomats to be a double-edged sword."

"Indeed, but if we show how this ship can open opportunities for them, we can maintain the peace and protect our world at the same time. They can only negotiate when their people are not dead." The academician concluded. "If there's one thing the Federation likes more than peace, its when they can devote their starfleet to exploration rather than pure defense."

"My next concern is the Erisians. Can we get these twenty vessels in service in six months?" The admiral noted.

"The Federation's success with the Defiant Class, and the Klingon's reliable B'Rel Class Bird of Prey have show they can build a dozen of these escorts in a few months. We can establish a deterrent with races like the Erisians. They will be unwilling to commit to an invasion of our world, if they don't know that their ships weapons can be effective against ours. I assure you, The Tirielle Class carries weapons designed to counter the Borg's ability to adapt to phase modulations. The Federation will want testbeds for such technologies."

The Admiral took out an elegant styled pen off his desk and signed the documents to begin construction.
