No sooner had Sr’au said this, the two were thrown violently against the wall of the holodeck as the scenery program abruptly came to an end. She help tight to Napoleon, as they were flung, not knowing what was happening.

The back of her head slammed into the wall. Things became blurry and soon turned to darkness as Mrera lost consciousness.

Napoleon cut a back flip as he caught her tightly. The room went dark but soon it was replaced with foggy scenery. “Sweetheart? Are you okay?”

Now

Ensign Mrera Sr’au awoke about a minute later. Her cat eyes picked up a figure of a Terran male hovering over her. His scent seemed familiar to her, but she couldn’t figure out why.

“Wh-Who arre you?” she asked in a frightened mew. “You’re sscent I know, but why, I don’t.”

Napoleon scratched his head a bit. He touched his communication badge. “Engineering or someone, come in.” There was no answer. He looked at his badge as well as hers and some how both were disabled. He understood he was in uncharted territory so he said to her, “My name is Lieutenant Napoleon Bond and you are Ensign Mrera Sr’au. Some kind of feedback happened causing our badges to go out. Plus it caused you to be thrown for a loop.”

That explained why her head was like the banging of a bass drum. Everything seemed to echo in Mrera’s ears. She looked about them in the dark room. Only emergency lighting was on within the holodeck.

“That explainss what happened to my aching head,” she said, one paw at the back of her head. “Thosse arre emerrgency lightss, arren’t they? Arre we underr attack?” She asked as she stood up. That’s when Mrera realized something. “Did you jusst call me sweethearrt?”

“Yes, I did call you sweetheart,” he smiled as he placed two fingers over her lips. “We can address that later. I am sure your keen senses can smell yourself on me and on you, you could smell myself on you. We have a good relationship but let us concentrate on the matter at hand. There seems to be something that has happened on the ship I would assume. So let’s leave the Holodeck and see what is happening. Stick close to me because I do not want anything to happen to you.”

Mrera breathed his in Napoleon’s scent. It caused her a sense of pleasure, as if she were remembering something. She briefly smiled, but soon drew a look of confusion as blood began to ooze from her nose and ear on her left side. She felt dizzy as her vision blurred. Sr’au found herself losing her center and fell against Napoleon.

Napoleon pressed his communication badge but there were no answer. He scooped her up as he carried her out of the Holodeck. There were lighters out but few were on. He listened as he heard voices so he carried her to the sound he hoped had at least one medical crew member.

“My head hurtss,” Mrera murmured. “What…is happening.” She allowed her head to rest upon Napoleon’s strong shoulder. Despite the pain and blood, Mrera felt safe and secure in his arms.

“Something has happened to the ship,” he said as he looked around.

Lt. Alice Jordan walked up with her son. “Do not go that way. You need to stay put. Bunker down or what ever that saying is. “

“Let’s go back in the Holodeck to see what we can do,” Napoleon suggested, “Even if it is just a Holodoctor”

“It sstopped worrking,” Mrera whispered. It took much energy for her to speak. She could barely keep her eyes open. Her head seemed as if it would burst. Her blood smeared on Napoleon’s shirt. “Thank you forr helping me.”

“Hang in there,” Napoleon replied. “Alice and I will make sure you are okay.”

“Napoleon,” Alice said soft but firm, “We need to set up a triage here. Hopefully a medical personnel might come by. Right now we would be in the blind if we leave this area.”

“Indeed,” Napoleon said looking around. “Mrera, we have to wait this out.”

Tears fell from Ensign Sr’au’s eyes at the pain that came from within her head. It felt as if her brain was attempting to break through her skull. Her eyes were fading.

“I’m sc…” it seemed Mrera couldn’t finish her thoughts, “I’m sca…” The ensigns eyes closed and she went unconscious.

From outside of the holodeck, beams of light could be seen sweeping the corridor. “This corridor is clear,” called one marine.

Another shouted, “The holodeck doors are open. There may be someone in there!”

Napoleon said to the marines as they walked in. “Ensign Mrera needs medical attention right away.”

Alice asked, “What happened?”

“Wish I knew,” the marine replied.

One of the marines who was a medic looked at Mrera. “She needs immediate attention.”

A marine knelt beside Mrera with a field pack. Seeing the blood and now clear fluid coming from her ear, he calmly assessed that she possibly had a major concussion with possibly damage to the brain.

The medic worked quickly, realizing the Ensign needed IVs of saline and antibiotics until they could create an opening in her skull drain the fluid away. Her life depended upon it. If they had no way to get her to a surgeon, the medic realized she may have to improvise.

Quickly sterilizing Mrera’s arm, the medic put a port into her arm. Then she connected two bags through a drip. Handing them to Napoleon, she stated, “Hold these until I find something to hang them from.”

Napoleon complied. He held her hand as he felt this is where he needed to be.

Alice rolled her eyes a bit. “Napoleon, I know you are just a computer engineer but once power is restored, you will be wanted in Engineering. “

Napoleon nodded. “Understood. I will know when to go. Do not worry Mrera, I will be with you as long as possible.”
