Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Arcadia Bar and Lounge

It was Serenity's one night off. She and Raye had a deal. Raye would babysit one night a week to give her mother a chance to relax without the twins and Raye around.

So she now made her way into the Arcadia Lounge and looked around for a seat. Finding one at the bar she walked over and took a seat. The bartender looked her way and raised an eyebrow.

"Normal for you Ren?" he asked.

"Please" she replied knowing he would bring her, the Andorian Ale she liked.

Already seated at the bar was a short but attractive Cardassian female; this one was in uniform with the top partially unzipped, and seemed to have a glass of something pinkish in front of her as she tapped away on her PADD.

She smiled at the newcomer, though, green eyes gleaming with excitement. "Well, hello. Don't see you round here all that often, and I come here quite often indeed. Just ask the bartender here, he knows." She greeted.

Serenity gave a small smile. "I try to come once a week. But not always successful. I am Serenity Triannth" she held out a hand as she introduced herself.

"Prashani Chet." The younger woman shook the offered hand and smiled a dazzling white smile. Now that she'd spoken she seemed to have a rather obvious English brogue - now how was that possible?

"Serenity is a lovely name, by the way."

"Thanks,. My mother watched way too many old Earth Cartoons as a child." She tilted her head. "A cardassian with a British accent... that is very different."

"I grew up in England, actually! Father and Mother always said that they moved there from Cardassia seeking business." She explained. "I know, I know. It is rather unusual. People usually don't judge, though!"

"no judgement from me." Serenity smiled. "have you been on station long?" She asked curiously.

"Not at all. A few months, at most - though I suppose to every individual 'long' is a rather subjective standard." Prashani responded. "What do you do on board? I personally spend my duty time in the arboretum tending plants - which is unsurprising in my line of work as a botanist."

"Security. I am normally either on the battle bridge or at the Armories." Ren replied and thanked the bartender who gave her, her drink. "Its why I rarely get here during normal hours. I have been on the Ely for about 2 years now."

"Now that's long compared to me!" Prashani laughed. "Do you like it on board? I've had a pretty good time so far and I'm hoping it'll stay that way. Elysium is an awesome ship."

"She is. And the crew are great as well. You said botany? You are under Commander Salannis an Vantar. She is a very good officer."

"She is. We all respect her for it." She smiled. "How about you? How do you find the security chief? Are they good?"

"Oh yes. Commander Taylor is an expert at her role. She has been chief of security under the now Commodore since the Commodore took command." Serenity said with a smile and she sipped her drink.

"I'm sure she is. Being led by someone who knows what they're doing and does it really well is always a comfort, right?" Prashani laughed and sat back in her chair. "So. What do you do for fun? I personally spend a lot of time reading and helping out in the community garden among... other things."

"I spend time with my children, and we go to Deck 10 often to the Civilian promenade. There are many different shops as you know there." Ren replied.

"Children! That's wonderful. I'd love to have my own kids someday. What's there, if I might ask! I haven't even finished exploring it yet!"

"Oh there are shops, bars a movie theater, hairdressers and such. The ships school is there as well."Ren replied.

"School? Shops? Movie theaters!? Wow. Obviously I'm not getting out enough," Prashani laughed. "Got any good movies to recommend? I haven't seen a good one in forever, not in an actual theater at least."

"Oh they have a number of films playing at any time. There are films from the late 1900's to current. I think there is one currently playing that is a rehash of the old murder mysteries of the 1920's" Ren replied.

"1920s? Now that's unusual. And quite old if you ask me," Prashani remarked with a laugh. "I've seen a few of those movies. They can get quite cheesy in my opinion, and quite tropey too - but maybe that just adds to the charm, don't you think?"

"Sometimes one needs a good laugh" Ren replied with a smile. "And the kids on board seem to like the old style comedy. There was a prank war a few years ago amongst the younger kids, the teachers were at a loss as to how to stop it."

"Did they, eventually, though?" Prashani asked. "Surely they had to have. I grew up in England - we pulled prank wars all the time. Oh, the chaos that would always ensue." She gave a chuckle.

"yes, the Capt... sorry Commodore was called down to uh... speak with the perpetrators ... which meant the whole school, from what I heard she praised their ingenuity and told them that if they continued, those looking for entrance into Starfleet would find a black mark on their records. The pranks stopped."

"A whole band of Starfleet hopefuls. Isn't that cute." Prashani laughed. "It's kind of sweet, seeing how quickly children take after their parents isn't it?"

"In some cases" Ren replied. "I know of at least one child on board who would rather stick pins in her eye than join starfleet."
