Mission:
Season 6 : Episode 1: Circinus
Location: Main Sickbay
541 words - 1.1 OF Standard Post Measure
Alicia stood watching the comings and goings in Sickbay, with everything that had happened, the lives saved and lost, the medical staff were moving along like a well oiled machine. Others were helping where they could, chipping in to lend whatever expertise were needed to help their shipmates and loved ones.
In one of the nurses offices a temporary nursery had been set up for the children whose parents were being treated, somewhere safe for the young to congregate. Connor and N’Vea were amongst those children as Savar did what he could to help, his counselling skills being put to full use soothing frayed nerves and fears.
Alicia’s arm was now fully repaired, but the discomfort from the break would still linger for a while. The miracle of mild pain relief made it more bearable as she set about helping where she could. Seeing her adoptive father busy treating the wounded, the large Gorn hadn’t stopped once no wonder he was looking tired.
Deanna too was chipping in where she could, offering her daughter a smile as they passed each other amongst the sea of people in Sickbay. Patients, worried relatives and friends, all needing answers as to what exactly had brought the ship to this state of disaster.
Alicia wasn’t daring to think what might happen, emergency forcefields were holding the vacuum of space at bay in breached corridors but only for as long as the power held out to keep them up. Would they have to find a suitable planet so the crew could find an area to set up camp? Was the ship even in a salvageable condition? Would they ever get home?
She shook off her fears, right now she couldn’t afford to have fears, she had to offer support to those who needed it. Her own worries could wait until she had time to be alone with Savar, he was her rock the one who kept her safe and allayed her fears. She didn’t know what the future held in store, would she want to know if the situation ever presented itself? Probably not!
Her thoughts went to those she hadn’t yet seen, she’d heard that Heather was okay and running medical elsewhere on the ship. She’d also heard mention of Emily from the marines that were coming and going, it seemed she was in marine medical. Still there were so many still unaccounted for, We’re they alive? Were they trapped somewhere crying out for help? She wished she knew. She had no doubt the entire Counselling department would have their hands full for a long time to come after this.
Walking around Sickbay she collected medical supplies for those busy working on patients, hoping that they still enough supplies to last. What of the cargo bays? Were they still accessible? Were there even any supplies left to bolster what they already had? No doubt time would tell.
There was also the matter of emergency ration packs, with so many mouths to feed how long would they last? It was all too scary to even consider. Right now she had to stat focussed, there were people who needed her and she had work to do.
