Location: Gary and Catlin's quarters on Earth
Timeline: Before leaving on the Solstice
803 words - 1.6 OF Standard Post Measure

Gary was in his and Catlin's quarters. They would be leaving shortly for the Solstice. Their first deep space mission after several missions to neighboring planets on surveys.

He looked over the small mountain of luggage sitting in the middle of the living room. "Catlin!" He called to his wife, standing a few feet away and doing a final check of their luggage. "Hmmm? What is it, Gary?" An impish smile on her face. She knew exactly what he was going to say. "Catlin, you know how big our quarters are on the Solstice or I should say how small. Where do you think all of this is going to go?" He said with a wave of his hand at the luggage pile which seemed to be growing larger with each passing minute.

"What?" She asked innocently. "It isn't that much, and our quarters are bigger than you think." She wagged her finger at him. "You are soooo melodramatic Gary Taylor." The last said as she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him softly. "I love you, Gary." She said as her arms stayed draped around his neck.

"Catlin, I love you too. Now and forever." He replied as he returned her kiss. "Need I remind you that we have junior officer quarters and not captain or senior officer quarters. He asked. "Pffttt. details. Don't worry it will all work out, you'll see." She smiled at him with a smile that lit up the room. As he fell in love with her all over again.

"It will all work out. says the assistant chief science officer. Okay, I'll wait and see, and I know by that smile on your face that you have something up your sleeve and I know better than to ask you what." She giggled. "For a tactical officer, you have amazing insight." She drawled. Before bursting out in uncontrollable laughter. "Uh huh. We'll see how funny it is when we find out they put half our stuff in storage. With my luck it will be all my stuff." He quipped.

"Oh Gary, relax. It will be fine. I promise." Catlin said as her fingers moved lightly up and down his back. "I'm so excited!" She gushed, "I just know this is going to be a special mission. One we will remember forever." He smiled at her exuberance. "I think you are right Catlin. In fact, I know you are. This will be a mission we will always remember."

She smiled brilliantly at him. "Gary, sing to me. Sing me a song. I love it when you sing to me. I feel so special." Catlin whispered, her head resting on his shoulder. He smiled, "You are special Catlin." He answered softly. His hands going around her lithe waist, holding her close as he began to sing as they slowly danced in the middle of their living room. Blissful in their love and ignorance of what the future held in store for them.

… I don't remember what day it was.
I didn't notice what time it was.
All I know is that I fell in love with you.
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you.

… Every day's a new day in love with you
With each day comes a new way of loving you
Every time I kiss your lip my mind starts to wander.
If all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

… Oh, I love you more today than yesterday.
But not as much as tomorrow
I love you more today than yesterday.
But, darling, not as much as tomorrow

… Tomorrow's date means springtime's just a day away.
Cupid, we don't need ya now, be on your way
I thank the Lord for love like ours that grows ever stronger.
And I always will be true
I know you feel the same way too.

… Oh, I love you more today than yesterday.
But not as much as tomorrow
I love you more today than yesterday.
But only half as much as tomorrow

… Every day's a new day, every time I love ya
Every way's a new way, every time I love ya
Every day's a new day, every time I kiss ya
Every way's a new way, oh, how I love ya
Every day's a new day, every time I love ya
Every day's a new day, every time I love ya

As Gary finished singing, he looked down at Catlin, lowered his head and slowly kissed her. "I love you Catlin. Now and forever. For all of eternity." Her reply was exquisite in its simplicity as she kissed him deeply then turned her head so she could whisper in his ear. "You have amazing, good taste." As she took his hand and led him to their bedroom.

Lia has yet to fully understand how Gary thinks, she knows he still loves his now dead wife. But in many ways, she is very jealous of her. How does one contend with a memory, a well written post showing Jeff's writing style to full affect.
