Staff warrant officer Rea'thanra Sandtail glared at his Wristcomp, his Large vulpine ears folding back with frustration as he tapped in a few more commands into the Crystal display, as he tried to coax as much power from any of his Armors Systems as he could into the whirring pump of the Heating coil. "E'bhachn," he swore, using a curse he so rarely let free. "Why couldn't we have Landed on a Hot planet...why did we have to be stuck on this....slush ball of a backwater world!" he snapped in his native tongue.
Behind him, Standing with only her base layer on, Warrant officer Gen'Tetra Crystalcliff gave him a cruel grin. "Is the poor little Dunepaw struggling to stay warm?" she asked. "if you ask me...this is down right pleasant weather." she said with a sneer.
Rea didn't even bother to look up. "I'm just trying to make sure I don't Freeze out here!" he snarled, still tapping away at his Wristcomp.
"You're adorable," she replied Tersely. "I'm sure you'd be lording your biology over me if we were on some Dustball."
He ignored her and continued to tap at the commands into the small computer, giving a quiet sigh of relief as the Armor inked just enough Heat out to make him comfortable. "Did you ever stop to consider Warrant officer, why we were initially denied entry into the United Federation of Planets?"
She shot him a glare, before sighing out. "Because we were to militaristic," she said bluntly. "We shot at their first ambassadors."
He sighed again and shook his head. "Thats the official story, but I've got another theory." He said as he settled himself down onto the makeshift bunk. "What if it was because we're so.." He paused and looked at his hands, the gloves of his armor glistening with frost. "Hateful towards each other?"
Gen shrugged. "There are better reasons than that. There's also the fact that we had no tech to offer them, which means We would have been a Burden to their own Defense." She Frowned and then sighed. "But I...suppose you have a Point as well...the constant bickering..rampant and often violent disagreements between the Dunepaw, the Snowrunners and the Homeworlders...could have been very jarring to the Humanoids."
Reo shivered and looked down at his Armored hands, his ears folding flat to his skull as he breathed out a groan. "If...I make it off this snow ball...i promise i'll try to be...more polite with you Gen.." he said, his jaw chattering as he let out a whine.
Gen'Tetra Stared long and hard at him, her eyes narrowing as she leaned forward. "Are you feeling alright? You look like a Ech'ra Ice hopper on the verge of dying.." she muttered quietly as she took a step towards him.
Reo eyed her warily, his eyes darting around for escape routes. "N-no," he whispered. "Its just...my teeth chatter when its cold..."
Gen Stared over him and then sighed as she walked towards him. "Don't be an idiot Sir...you're practically frozen as it is," she muttered as she slipped over and pulled his dense, armored from into her arms. "now do yourself a favor...and try to get warm." she whispered.
The two stood there in silence for what felt like hours, Reo slowly becoming warmer as he let his body heat soak through the thick layers of his armor. "Thank you Gen," he whispered as he finally let his arms relax, allowing the thick white fur of hers to insulate around him.
"Oh shut up," she grumbled under her breath.
