Reporting for duty, once more

Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Timeline: Current
575 words - 1.2 OF Standard Post Measure

N'vok made his way, slowly and with the aid of a cane, a repurposed sampling rod, in search of the Captain. It frustrated him, though he did not let it show, to be so hampered by his body, his mind was working at its usual speed and efficiency, as least he believed it was, but his body remained weak and he was unable to work for long periods before needing significant rest. It severely limited his ability to help the ship.

He found the Captain coming from the Intel blister. Gary greeted N'vok. "Mr. N'vok, good to see you up and about. You look like a man on a mission, in search of something. Perhaps I can help you. What are you in search of?"

N'vok leaned on his makeshift cane. "You, Captain. First, my apologies for not being able to assist sooner, our good Doctor tells me I am lucky to be alive, but that is a poor excuse for not doing one's duty. Second, where do you wish the science department to focus its efforts? There are many things we can do to help, so many, in fact, that it is hard to find a direction. We were hoping that you would provide one."

Gary looked at the science chief. "I would have to disagree with you Mr. N'vok, being alive is never a poor excuse compared to the alternative. However as to the science department focusing its efforts. I would recommend that you concentrate on finding planets that are rich in metals and minerals that we can further use to repair the ship. Start there and we'll see about adding more to your departments tasks.'

N'vok nodded. "Please send me a list of what you feel we should prioritize in our search and we will set about refining the sensor grid for just that purpose."

"I will forward you a list later today." Gary promised as he switched to another topic. "How is your recovery going? You know not to push yourself."

N'vok nodded. "Slower than I would prefer. But my body is healing as it should. I rest as I get tired. Vulcans master a fair number of mind-body techniques and I am using them as best I can to ensure there are no setbacks in my recovery."

"Vulcans are not supermen Mr. N'vok. While helping your body to heal is a good idea. Overdoing t could cause more harm than good." Gary cautioned.

"Your concern is noted, Captain," said N'vok. "And, please, trust me, I have no wish to relapse. Losing two weeks of my life was distressing enough. Additionally, I do hope that you will recommend the medical team for commendation when we get back."

"Good to hear and know Mr. N'vok. As for commendations for the medical team. They are already in their files for the outstanding work they preformed along with a personal note from me on their dedication and professionalism. Along with my gratitude." Gary replied.

"And mine as well," said N'vok. "Thank you for your time, Captain, I will now, slowly and carefully, return to work."

"You are always welcome Mr. N'vok. Anything I can do to help or assist you be it either duty related or personal, please let me know and I will do what I can." Gary answered without hesitation.

"Noted, Captain," said N'vok with a slight nod before he turned and slowly made his way back to the science lab.
