Mission: MISSION 0 - History Speaks
Location: Taylor's Quarters
Timeline: Current
1004 words - 2 OF Standard Post Measure

Gary was in the kitchen preparing dinner for his family. Those two words filled him unmeasurable joy. Lia and little Lia were his family, and nothing made him happier or prouder. Lia seemed to be past her self -destructiveness. She and little Lia had bonded and were the best of friends. Just importantly they were back on track. Having put the unpleasantness of Lia's demotion and time in the brig behind them, never to be spoken about again. More importantly, Lia was happy. She was the happiest he had seen her in a long time. Being a mom. a loving doting mom agreed with her.

He shook his head in silent gratitude that things were working out so well. Little Lia seemed to have taken to Lia and himself after some initial coldness on the child's part towards Lia but it was quickly put to rest after some good quality time between the two Lia's. Lia had even got little Lia to buy into the Japanese culture, nothing was more adorable than seeing little Lia dressed in a kimono to match Lia's. After some uncertainty toward Japanese food, little Lia was now eating it regularly. Well, the Dabo chicken and a few of the other dishes. It seemed to him that all children loved chicken in all it's different varieties. He looked at the food he was preparing. Dabo chicken and extra healthy amount some rice and carrots along with some prime rib and baked potatoes for Lia and himself. He figured they could use a break from Japanese food but there was some extra if Lia wanted to sneak a few pieces. He also had some Sake cooling.

As he prepared the meal, a song came to him. A song he had forgotten but seemed so right for now. He knew Lia loved him there was no doubt about that nor the fact that he loved her with every fiber of his being. But sometimes a song better summed up his feelings then he could. Such was the time now. "Computer play This Guy's in Love with you." By Herb Albert." The computer replied instantly. "Playing song now." An instant later the first notes filled the quarters and Herb Albert's voice singing the soulful, romantic words joined in

You see this guy
This guy's in love with you
Yes, I'm in love
Who looks at you the way I do
When you smile I can tell
We know each other very well
How can I show you
I'm glad I got to know you, 'cause
I've heard some talk
They say you think I'm fine
Yes, I'm in love
And what I'd do
To make you mine
Tell me now, is it so?
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart keep breaking, 'cause
I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love
In love with this guy
If not, I'll just die
Tell me now, is it so?
Don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shaking
Don't let my heart keep breaking, 'cause
I need your love
I want your love
Say you're in love
In love with this guy

As the song played, Gary sang along as he prepared a meal for his family. It was the best feeling in the world. The best medicine to cure a getting rid of a case of the blues or whatever might ail you. A family meant you had others who cared about you and who loved you. Not because they had but because they wanted to. People who always had your back and your best interests at heart. Gary knew even when he and Lia were going through a rocky stretch, he could always count on her to come to his aid if he needed it. That was what love was all about. You could be mad or disappointed in someone and he knew Lia was disappointed in him but in times of need. Any anger or disappointment was pushed aside.

As the song ended, he spoke again "Computer play Your love keeps lifting Me Higher bu Jackie Wilson." A heartbeat later the more up-tempo but still romantic song filled the air, and he sang along.

Your love, lifting me higher
Than I've ever been lifted before
So keep it it up
Quench my desire
And I'll be at your side, forever more
You know your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
Listen
Now once, I was down-hearted
Disappointment, was my closest friend
But then you, came and it soon departed
And you know he never
Showed his face again
That's why your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
Alright
I'm so glad, I've finally found you
Yes that one, in a million girls
And I whip, my loving arms around you, honey
I can stand up, and face the world
Let me tell ya, your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
Now sock it to me
Hold me, you're my woman
Keep my love going
Higher and higher
I said keep on lifting
Lift me up.

Gary smiled as he sang. His world was complete, and he knew whatever troubles that might come their way in the future, he and Lia would meet and face them together as husband and wife. Equal partners in life's journey.

I listened to both songs on You Tube, and I think Gary has a caught the Love Bug. A delightful mission post of a husband in love with his life, wife, and child. What more could a person want from life. Nice one Jeff, I'm glad to see you haven't lost your touch.
