Mission: Season 2: Episode 3: Determination is not always a good thing
Location: Quarters
Timeline: after "Engineering Under Fire"
1731 words - 3.5 OF Standard Post Measure

At the doorstep to what was now their common quarters, Estelle fell back a little as they approached. Then she swooped her off the ground and held her in her arms. “So now I get to carry home my prize, yes?”

“As you wish.” Liorga giggled, though she secretly worried that Estelle might drop her.

But Liorga’s worries were baseless. Estelle wasn’t only quite a bit taller, and accustomed to having to carry people who were often much less cooperative than Liorga, the Deltan was also a bit lighter. So all was good, and Estelle even remembered to enter their cabin sideways, so as not to bump Liorga’s bald head into the doorframe. Once inside, Estelle only set her down when she reached the sofa.

“Okay, this is much nicer than that cot in the tent.” Liorga sighed, rolling on it for a second, “You, come join me, plenty of room.”

Estelle sat down and snuggled up to Liorga. “And private enough, too.” She kissed her. “So, about you moving in… have you got a decent number of engineering related books, by any chance?”

“I’ve actually got quite a lot of books.” Liorga laughed, remembering leaving them to Estelle in her will which, miraculously, she had been able to come home and delete, “Some engineering related, some classics, poetry, a pretty good mix. I’ve even got a couple of those super trashy Marisol Lopez novels…”

“Oh, you too?” Estelle grinned. “Anyhow, I’ve already made space in the bookshelves. But anything about engine lubricants I demand you put in the non-friction section.”

“Oh, you’re viscous.” Liorga smirked, continuing the pun loving doctor’s joke.

“Just like my coffee”, Estelle agreed. “Though…” She started. “Well, I’m not sure if you’ll even believe it. But these past few days…” She shook her head. “My body, well, my stomach mostly, it rejected the coffee. First time in my life that this happened to me.”

“You were scared.” Liorga stated bluntly, “Your body would’ve rejected Ambrosia. It’ll be fine now.”

“Yes, I’ve never been this scared before”, Estelle admitted. “And I’m sure that you’ve had it much worse than me. There was a rumour they wanted to sell you into slavery. It drove me nuts.”

“Honestly…” Liorga began, “I didn’t really have time to be scared. First I was focused on getting Dorso treated, then I was focused on getting back to you, then I was focused on rescuing those girls from that piece of shit Dunphy. I haven’t had time for a proper meltdown yet, I guess. Don’t know, maybe I missed it.”

“If you feel like you need to have one, I’m here”, Estelle said. “I might not be trained but I can listen.”

“Hopefully we won’t have to worry about that.” Liorga reassured her; it wasn’t like this was the first time she’d gone through something like this. Though, she did wonder how she would sleep that night. Once the adrenaline was gone, would she be plagued by nightmares of Dunphy and his gang?

Estelle ran her hand over Liorga’s head. “I’ll hold you tight, maybe you’ll get to sleep well.” Not that Estelle had even the slightest clue that Liorga had been through something similar before. But she knew many people reacted badly after the fact, at night.

“Wondering if I’m not already sleeping.” Liorga smiled, nuzzling against the blonde’s ample chest, “Because that sounds like a dream come true to me.”

Estelle wanted to tell Liorga not go go on runs like that one again, or to at least take a security team with her, but she held her tongue. She knew it was foolish to even say the words. It was their job, and Estelle might very well be called to go somewhere alone, too. “I want to spend as much time with you as I can, my love.”

“Well, to that end, I’d thought about retiring soon. I mean, I’ve got thirty in.” Liorga began, “But Gallia’s got some nutty pie in the sky idea about a specialty engineering team and wanting me to put in for Warrant Officer so I can be her second…. And we’ve pretty much all determined she can’t be left unsupervised yet.”

Estelle chuckled. “Besides, I know you love what you do. You don’t want to give it up, and you shouldn’t.”

“You’re right. This is the second best part of my life.” Liorga smiled, kissing the pretty doctor’s cheek and sighing, “And you’re the very best. Besides, can’t make you take care of that nut job all by yourself, can I?”

“Especially since I don’t know the first thing about engineering”, Estelle said. “She’d probably fool me with some technobabble and I’d be none the wiser.”

“Well, if you want to run through my books you can get caught up on the technobabble.” Liorga offered with a chuckle, “Or you can bamboozle her with some medical jargon maybe.”

“Hm, how’s this… once you’ve clamped off the EPS-conduit, you put an autosuture where it ruptured, then use the vascular regenerator until it is fully sealed. But don’t take too long, you can’t interrupt the power flow indefinitely. Then inject some stimulant into the plasma stream to get the ship juiced up to full power”, Estelle suggested.

“Okay, that made no sense whatsoever, but you presented it so well.” Liorga laughed hard, “If you can’t dazzle them with knowledge, baffle them with bullshit.”

“Now you see how much I know”, Estelle laughed.

“Tell you what, you stay away from engineering with that stuff, especially any of the kids I have to train, and I’ll stay out of sickbay unless I’m fixing something.” Liorga pledged, “Glad we have different skill sets.”

“But we’re both in the business of mending”, Estelle smiled. “Just a different way of healing and repairing.”

“Right.” Liorga nodded, “But now I think we need to do some healing of our own, love. We’ve taken quite a beating lately, how will we make it better for ourselves?”

“I think you’ve earned yourself a massage”, Estelle said. “And I just happen to know where all the right spots are.”

“Then I guess you’re glad I’m a Deltan and not a Trill.” Liorga joked, “So many spots to choose from.”

“Definitely too hard to keep track of them all”, Estelle agreed. “But how about I loosen your shoulders a bit, work my way down from there? As Marisol Lopez would say: I promise, I’ll be gentle.”

“Do you think she really talks like that?” Liorga giggled, though the question was legitimate; there was a vast difference between her verbage in her non-fiction books and in the ‘Marisol Lopez Mysteries’ novels. Almost like they were written by completely different people...

“I don’t know”, Estelle shrugged. “Maybe, because people expect it now?” She started peeling Liorga out of her clothes, an action she took her sweet time with. “Besides, I have a long list of cringy things to say which I bet you’ve never heard before.”

“Oooh, nice.” Liorga grinned, ready for the Dirty Doctor to expand her vocabulary.

“Let’s hope you’ll stay this appreciative”, Estelle said, tossing Liorga’s jacket onto the nearby armchair. “Why don’t you come sit on my lap, and I’ll prove to you my superior anatomical knowledge?”

“Oh, now that does sound interesting.” Liorga moaned, placing herself in Estelle’s lap, “I do enjoy a good anatomy lesson.”

With nimble fingers, Estelle proved to Liorga she knew exactly where the pressure points were. Liorga was tense, despite her clear intention not to be, and the conscious mind needed a little help so the subconscious wouldn’t obstruct its desires. “After this, you’ll sleep like a baby, I promise. Well, eventually.”

“Oh, yeah…” Liorga sighed, content and feeling renewed, “And I like eventually. Means there’s going to be an event between now and sleep. That’s the best part.”

“Oh, is that what we’re calling it now?” Estelle laughed. “An event?” Maybe Liorga had spent time with the Moclans? Or perhaps it was an unrelated play on words. As her fingers went down Liorga’s back, she remarked, “I’m amazed you’ve got as much energy left, though.”

“Well, maybe I was saving energy for something special.” Liorga smiled, “Maybe I decided that if I lived I was going to make up for lost time.”

“I’m all yours”, Estelle promised. She hugged Liorga from behind, kissing her neck, resting her hands on Liorga’s belly. “For as much time as I have.”

“We’ve got forever.” Liorga said happily, “Let’s make the most of it.”

Estelle’s definition of the word ‘forever’ was apparently different than Liorga’s. However, she didn’t want to ruin the moment by pointing that out. “Have I told you that your way of handling those ersatz nurses was great? I did not expect you to take charge so aggressively, but it was a great help.”

“Well, sometimes you just got to kick a few butts to get things done.” Liorga laughed, happy to feel like a true senior NCO again, “And those two just needed a little motivation…”

Estelle giggled. “That they did.” She moved her hands higher, holding Liorga’s boobs. “I didn’t have time to think about it then, but it was sexy, too.”

“Well, if watching me…. motivate the troops, turns you on, I think I can provide plenty of that for you.” Liorga offered, moaning in joy as Estelle played with her breasts.

“Oh no, they will hate me if they ever find out”, Estelle said.

“Nah, they’ll never know it was you.” Liorga swore, “Chiefs motivate all the time.”

“I’m certainly feeling very motivated”, Estelle agreed. And she was feeling some other things, too. This position was great.

“Well, what shall we do with all that motivation?” Liorga raised an eyebrow, “Ideas?”

“Plenty”, Estelle said, whispering naughties into Liorga’s ears.

“Well, here’s something from the Senior NCO’s playbook.” Liorga began, “Don’t talk about it, be about it.”
