Andrinn Orin was coming on duty onboard the ISS Endeavor, where he was stationed as a security officer. While he was an alien and worked within the Terran Empire, where aliens were looked upon with distrust and disdain, Andrinn had been working hard during his time within the fleet and had been making a name for himself within the ranks of Imperial Starfleet.
Since he was a security officer onboard, one of the things that Andrinn had the pleasure of helping out with was gathering intel and information. While most people that were onboard enjoyed using the agonizer to watch the person be tortured, Andrinn enjoyed the more subtle approach to extracting information that was vital for the empire.
Andrinn worked with one of the ISS Endeavor’s Medical Officers, Dr. Mark Piper. The two had grown close to one another through their ways of forming new measures of gathering information. Andrinn’s knowledge of alien races was invaluable and helped further bolster Piper’s knowledge of human anatomy, making them quite the team together.
The information that Andrinn had received that Dr. Piper wanted him down in Sickbay for an interesting case, but it didn’t specify who or what the case was about. Thus, Andrinn headed down to sickbay to see how he might be of help to the dear doctor.
Walking into through the main doors to sickbay, Dr. Piper and Nurse Taylor were working together as they looked over a patient that was strapped down to the biobed. The patient was far enough off from where Andrinn had walked in, making it hard to see who the person was or why they might’ve been in sickbay.
As the doors opened and closed behind Andrinn, Piper turned around and made his way over to greet Andrinn with a wicked smile on his face. Andrinn knew that was the face that only came onto Dr. Piper’s face when he had something truly good for him and Andrinn.
Once the space was closed between him and Andrinn, Piper shook Andrinn’s hand and said, “Boy, do I have something good for you! Why don’t you come and take a look at the specimen?”
Piper turned and the pair walked towards the man that was strapped down to the biobed, allowing for Andrinn to see who they would be working with that day. Andrinn quickly realized that it was a Vulcan male, who appeared to be in his 20’s. But, until more information presented itself, Andrinn couldn’t be quite sure, since most Vulcans lived to be approximately 200 years old on average.
Once the pair closed the gap between them and the man, Piper introduced him as T’Pan and he was an officer onboard their sister ship, the Intrepid. According to Piper, the man was going through something called “Pon-Farr” and that it was basically the way in which Vulcans mated. Only occurring once every seven years or so, it brought the Vulcan going through it to their more primal and base instincts.
Looking over to Piper as he was explaining all of this, Andrinn asked, “Now, why was this so important for me? We work together on weeding out the traitors and the people who might come to harm the empire. Not to watch some poor alien go through their mating season!”
That’s when Piper’s smile grew even more, as he explained, “Well, as I’m sure you’re aware, Vulcans are quite logical and since they lose that bit of themselves when they begin their mating, this might be a way for us to understand why it happens and make a way for us to use it. Just in case any Vulcan crew members might way to…misbehave. If you want an out, I’ll do this by myself, of course…”
Andrinn smirked as the doctor finished and replied back, “Of course, I want to help. Just…let me get ready for whatever fun you’re about to have.”
With that, Andrinn headed out and got prepared for the procedure.
