After leaving Sickbay and Kara, Mal headed directly to their quarters to prepare a dinner that Kara would hopefully never forget. Once inside their quarters he had the computer begin playing soft, romantic music to set the mood. That done, he replicated two candles and set them on the dining table. In the middle of the table he placed some Mr. Lincoln roses. Satisfied he began working on the meal. he first thought of seafood and while Kara liked it, he wanted this meal to be memorable. So, thought. Meat was the answer. Kara was a meat lover through and through. So, he prepared two bacon wrapped filet mignons steaks, baked potatoes and string bean casserole and some cheddar bay biscuits. For dessert he had Dutch apple pie with whip cream. Of course, all this preparation got his wrist to start hurting but wouldn't tell Kara. He already felt bad for causing her to worry over his accident in the holodeck.

When everything was ready, he had the lights lowered to enhance the mood. That done he sat on the couch and waited for Kara's arrival.

Arriving home Kara walked in the door, pausing as she saw the lowered lights and smelt the cooking food. "Mal you were supposed to be resting" she couldn't help but smile as she walked over to him giving him a loving kiss. "Give me a few minutes to grab a shower and I'll be back."

Mal returned Kara's kiss and smiled. "I know you did, and I did rest.... for the most part. I wanted to do this, I felt bad for causing you to worry. Just my way of saying I am sorry again and showing how much, I do love you, Kara." He nodded, "Go, get your shower, dinner isn't going anywhere."

Kara nodded. “I’ll do that, I won’t be long.” With that she headed for her shower.

"Take your time sweetie, as i said dinner isn't going anywhere." Mal answered as Kara headed for the shower. He was tempted to join her and liven up her shower but decided not to. For he knew what would happen. One thing would lead to another, and they would get carried away and dinner would get cold. No dinner first and fun time later.

Kara had a similar idea before she thought about it, they had plenty of time for romantic time together later in the evening. Right now she had to get on with her shower so she wasn’t late for dinner.

While Kara went to get her shower, Mal went to check on dinner. It smelled divine and was ready to be served as soon as Kara finished her shower and returned. Mal also had some red wine chilling that he would serve when they sat down for dinner.

Returning from her shower wearing a knee length dress that she knew Mal liked, Kara smiled as she kissed him on the cheek. “So what’s cooking for dinner?”

Mal let out a low whistle of approval as Kara returned wearing a dress he liked. "Very nice, very nice." he commented and returned the kiss. "I'd say you but perhaps you can be the perfect dessert." He grinned and continued. "For dinner we have bacon wrapped filet mignons steaks, baked potatoes, stringbean casserole and cheddar bay biscuits, then for dessert, there is Dutch apple pie with whip cream,"

“Mmmm now all of that sounds delicious!!” Kara grinned, her mouth was watering just as the thought. “Don’t forget the second course of dessert as well…” she gave him a wry smile.

"I hope it." Mal replied. "Oh! Let me get the wine out." As he went to the cooling unit and brought forth a nicely chilled bottle of wine. "Please have a seat, Kara." As he poured the wine into their glasses.

Kara didn’t need to be told twice as she quickly took a seat, she couldn’t wait to start eating.

Mal smiled lovingly smiled at Kara, she was his world plain and simple. He sat down "Help yourself Kara and dig in. I hope you enjoy it. Oh!" He grinned at her, "I haven't forgotten about the second course of dessert Kara, not at all. In fact, I am looking forward to it."

"As am I" Kara grinned before picking up her knife and fork and starting on her food. The sparkle in her eyes said it all as she savoured the delicious meal that Mal had prepared.

Mal grinned foolishly at Kara; he watched in quite anticipation as she prepared to take a bite of her food. He hoped she liked it. She deserved the best.

“Mmmm delicious!” Kara smiled. “You’re watching me like a hawk you know.”

Mal blinked at Kara's statement. "Am I? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I just wanted to make sure you like the meal and...." he paused for a moment, "I was again realizing just how lucky and fortunate I am to have you in my life as my wife and by my side."

“You don’t need to apologise I wasn’t complaining” Kara grinned. “I’m just as fortunate to have you, and I’m not going anywhere.”

"I certainly hope not! We haven't even finished dinner." He teased. Kara had the wonderful ability to make him feel good ( not that he needed it with her as his wife) She was supportive and caring. Loving with every fiber of her being. He was a very lucky man.

Kara couldn’t help but grin as she politely continued eating, Mal was a very good cook and she enjoyed it when he made meals for them. “Next time it’s my turn to cook, I’ll make something special just for you.”

Mal smiled at her, "You don't have to make anything special. It can be hotdogs and hamburgers, and it would special because you prepared and made it."

Kara nodded and smiled. “The same could be said for you, I find anything and everything you do for me special.”

"You deserve it all and thank you for the compliment. Would you like some more wine? Another biscuit?"

“Definitely more wine” Kara grinned before picking up her glass and drinking some of her wine ready for topping up.

"Sure thing darling." Mal answered as he poured some more wine into Kara's glass before adding some into his own glass. Sitting back down he smiled at her. "Make sure to save some space for dessert. I know you will want some with maybe a topping of ice cream or whip cream on top."

“Hmm sounds lovely” Kara smiled and nodded. “Can’t be without the whipped cream now.”

"Darn right! Whip cream and pie go together." Mal agreed as he ignored the pain in his wrist from overusing it. "So darling, does this meal meet with your approval?"

“It most certainly does” Kara nodded. “I’ll give you something for that wrist of yours after we’ve eaten.” She gave him a knowing look.

"Wonderful! I am glad that you like the meal." Mal's eyes blinked at Kara when she mentioned giving him something for his wrist. "What?" Then he blushed in embarrassment. "Oh yeah, my wrist. Um thanks sweetie."

Kara couldn’t help but grin. “After all this time you still forget I can sense when you’re in pain?”

"Well, I know we share a bond, and I know you can sense me, but I just forget because it feels so natural. Does that make sense?" Mal asked a sheepish grin on his face.

Kara nodded. “It does, I’ve seen the bond George and Leilani share admitting she’s Betazoid too. I’d like to know more about my Betazoid heritage, I’ll have to talk to George about us going back to Betazed at some point, just to visit and learn more.”

Mal nodded, "I think that is a great idea! Learning more about your heritage will certainly help you understand that part of your history. Plus, it is great to go to Betazed and see and learn the culture and the customs."

Kara smiled. “We always said we’d find out more about our real parents and our existing family, hopefully someone will know more.”

"And I want you to learn and know more honey. I will help you in any way I can." Mal replied, smiling back at her.

Kara nodded. “I know, speaking of which I wonder how my grandfather is coping with my being missing? That’s if they haven’t given up on finding us of course.”

"Oh, I'm sure he misses you a great deal and I am also sure they are still looking for us." Mal replied with a confidence he didn't feel. "They will never stop looking for us."

“I hope that’s true, but we both know Starfleet doesn’t waste resources on ships considered long lost.” Kara offered a melancholy smile.

"You have to believe that Kara, it makes the days easier to deal with and the nights not as long." Mal replied with a smile of his own, "And if that doesn't help you. You have me right here with you."

Kara nodded. “That very fact keeps me sane Imzadi.”

Mal smiled at Kara's comment. "You are my world Kara and having you here to talk to you, confide in and laugh and love keeps me from going off the deep end."

“Ohh I think you went off the deep end years ago Imzadi!” Kara laughed.

Mal scrounged his face up in a mock scowl at Kara. "My wife the comedian." He said as his face broke into a bright smile and his laughter joined Kara's.
