"The sparkliest of mortals! We dusted his room in shimmer storms—glitter in his hair, on his shoes, in his soul. His child will dance in it, and he’ll pretend to grumble, but he glows with joy just the same. We’re quite proud of the sparkle trail."
IC: Gary sat on the couch while LL played with her dolls. As the Elysium sailed through the inky blackness of space, they had just finished dinner consisting of Dabo chicken, carrots and rice. LL liked the Dabo chicken, and it was easy to prepare, and it was a reminder of Lia. As they sat something caught his eye, a glint like a moonbeam caught in the light but it wasn't just one moonbeam it was hundreds! All slowly falling in a gentle rain of glitter from the ceiling! "What the hel..." he started and then stopped and corrected it to "heck."
LL stopped her playing and turned a quizzical look on her face as the glitter had picked up in intensity. LL jumped up and giggled, throwing her arms open wide to embrace the glitter as it fell on her nose and gathered in her hair. Stuck to her clothing and the glitter twirled and fluttered around her. She timidly stuck her tongue out and some fell on it, and she laughed, and glitter pulsed in response. She turned to Gary her eyes full of wonder, her arms outstretched towards him. At first, he thought she wanted him to pick her up, but as he reached to do so, she shook her head. "No Daddy dance. Be happy." She urged. She knew her daddy missed her mommy he was so sad even though he tried to hide it she could tell.
Gary stood and the glitter was in his hair, on his clothes, his shoes the carpet. "What a mess this is going to be to clean up" He grumbled but surprisingly he wasn't annoyed or angry. He was strangely pleased. The glitter continued to rain down as LL was dancing in circles and the glitter pulsed, green, red, purple and yellow in time with her movements. He shook his head, and glitter fell from it like snow. His face quirked in a smile as the glitter danced and a picture of, he and Lia floated in the air, dancing merry along. Inviting him, urging him to let go even for a brief period of time and just be thankful.
"LL." he whispered and held his hands out to his daughter. She turned her smiling, happy face to him. Her eyes wide in wonderment. Laughter on her lips and in her heart as she grabbed them eagerly and then beginning slowly, they danced around the room. The glitter formed a shell around them and expanded and contracted as they danced and frolicked. It pulsed and throbbed with their movements. it seemed to gain energy the happier Gary and LL were. The picture frame bouncing in the air with an energy of its own. "This is going to be hell to clean up." He grumbled but he found he didn't care. His heart, no his soul had been heavy but now it was lighter, and for one shiny moment happier. He looked down at LL she was having the time of her life as her dolls had gathered around her and danced and jumped as she did. Her laughter filled the room, it was warm and infectious, and the glitter storm pulsed happily. Gary looked up as the glitter fell in his eyes and he knew something wonderful had taken place as he suddenly laughed, it was rich and warm and a much-needed outburst of expression that he needed. "Yes Daddy, be happy the glitter people want us to be happy." LL said with wisdom far beyond her young age. "*Well why not? * Gary thought and allowed himself to be happy as he enjoyed this special moment with his daughter. A moment that was uniquely theirs for all time. The glitter radiated brightly in response as if happy at the father and daughter happiness. Their work done.
