Gary heard about Naxea's attack by Desek and decided to visit her, figuring a friendly face might do her some good. Entering Sickbay and speaking to a nurse to make sure it was alright for him to visit he proceeded to her room. Knocking softly on her door before entering, as he came in he saw the crib for her daughter who lay inside it asleep. His eyes went to Naxea. He was silent as he just looked at her. She looked so small and fragile lying in the bed. He moved to her and upon reaching the bed, he took her hand and placed it in his. "Thought you might like a visitor."
Sighing, Naxea opened her eyes, looking up at Gary. "Hey," she said softly as she shifted her weight, grunting from the soreness in her right side. "It's good to see you though I am a bit surprised. "
Gary blinked at Naxea's reply. "I think that makes two of us who are surprised. Why are you surprised, Naxea? Did you think I didn't care about you?"
She shrugged slightly. "I don't know. I try not to have any expectations," Naxea stated, recalling how S'hib took his time visiting her when she had lost her arm. " Besides, you have a daughter and...others to look after."
Gary felt hurt by Naxea's statement. "I see." He answered simply. "You are right I do have a daughter just as you do and other responsibilities but none of that would keep me from seeing you."
"I'm sorry. I appreciate you coming to see me. I'm not accustomed to it...outside of Gunny Gami." His touch was comforting and she wanted more but she held herself back as she glanced at his hand holding herself, towards Sle'anna and then back to him. Better not let that babysitter of yours see you holding my hand. She'd be jealous," she jested with a chuckled that sent pain throbbing in her side.
Gary squeezed her hand, "Cerese? I don't think so besides she has enough to deal with in taking care of LL." He stopped as he saw her face contort in pain. " Whoa, easy Naxea, don't want you to tear something open and prolong your stay here. By the way, speaking of stay, any idea when they are going to let you out of here?"
"I should hopefully be out of here in another day or so," she stated. "Why? Man'darr hasn't gone a killing spree has he?" she joked.
"Wellllllllllllllllllll. There do seem to be less marines around come to think of it." Gary bantered back. "So, hopefully no more than two days. When you are released I will fix you a get out of Sickbay dinner. You will love it. I promise you."
Naxea smiled, doing her best not to laugh. "Sure, sure," she replied with a wave of her unoccupied hand. "So, are things still going crazy on the ship?"
"Oh ye of so little faith. I'll have to see if I can get you to change your tune." Gary fired back with a smile. "As for still going crazy. Yes, no let up in sight. I'm concerned if it keeps up we're going to have a real serious incident. I hope I am wrong."
"A little late for the serious incident," Naxea replied. "Gami told me earlier today what Security found out on how Desek managed to escape and kill a guard in the process. Luckily it was just me that was hit by a phaser and not Sle'anna. " Her eyes went to her still sleeping daughter and how it could had been so much worse had it not been for Rin.
Gary nodded soberly. "Yes, very true Naxea, very true." His eyes drifted to the crib where Naxea's daughter slept." I don't consider being shot by a phaser lucky but I understand what you mean and I too am glad that Sle'anna was not injured in the attack."
"Nooo, being shot with a phaser is the new popular thing to do now," she joked. "I don't recommend it. Is LL safe? She hasn't had any incidents has she?"
"Well, I was never into popular trends so, I think I will pass on this one. I'm happy to hear you don't recommend it. I was beginning to wonder." Gary bantered back before getting serious. "LL is safe and she had an incident with me in our quarters where there was a glitter ball and lots of glitter, the glitter was everywhere.in addition our quarters were filled with sand." He paused, "No harm has come to her." His relief evident.
"I'm glad to hear that you two are ok. I had sand fill my quarters as well but of course Sle'anna loved it. " She paused for a moment as she thought about her present condition, almost dying and here he was, holding her hand. She finally squeezed back as she beckoned him closer. "Come here."
"As did LL" Gary admitted with a boyish smile. "I'm sure Sle'anna did. All kids like sand, something to dig around in." He replied as he felt her squeeze his hand. He looked at her and moved closer to the bed, leaning over the bed. "Yes?"
"Thank you," she whispered softly before she wrapped her free arm around him as she leaned in, her lips pressing against his.
Gary's eyes widened in surprise before he had a chance to reply. However he recovered quickly and met Naxea's kiss with his lips meeting hers and savoring the richness of her soft full lips.
After a moment, Naxea pulled away gently. "That was nice," she said, keeping her voice soft.
Gary looked at her, his eyes twinkling mischievously. "Hmmmm. I think I need another sample so I can make a definite well informed and proper proclamation."
"Is that so?" Naxea asked, grinning. "What's keeping you "
"I'll have you know, I am an officer and gentleman. I don't go about stealing kisses from a defenseless woman." He finished grinning broadly before he leaned in and kissed Naxea again letting the kiss linger before pulling back. He looked skyward appearing to think about the kiss, then after a few seconds he looked down at Naxea. "Yes sir, I do believe that was without a doubt a nice kiss. One to remember."
Naxea chuckled at Gary, doing her best to ignore the pain from the soreness. "Well then, maybe when I get out of here, I'll thank you properly, Mister Gentleman."
Gary continued to smile, "That sounds like a promise and one I am going to hold you to. If you kiss this good in bed, you must be lights out when your standing up. In fact, I am looking forward to it."
"So, you're okay with us? Being together?" she asked, looking up at him. She didn't want to faster than he was willing.
Gary looked at her, lying in the bed and in that instant he knew he wanted to be with her, spend time with her, build on what they had started. "I'm more than okay. Are you okay with us being together?"
Nodding in response, Naxea grinned . "Yeah. I am." She squeezed his hand just as she caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Sle'anna was beginning to stir as she began to move her arms and legs. Her eyes slowly blinked open, immediately locking onto Naxea.
Gary felt Naxea squeeze his hand again and it felt good. "Excellent, wonderful in fact." Gary answered and stopped from saying anything else as he saw Sle'anna beginning to come awake. "You want me to bring her over to you?" As he walked closer to the crib.
"Sure," she replied, grunting as she shifted to push herself to sit up more on the bed.
Gary walked over to the crib, Looking down he began talking softly to Sle'anna. "Hi there little one. I'm going to take you over to Mommy where she can hold and love on you. Okay?" He finished as he bent down and gently picked her up, rubbing her back before bringing her over to Naxea. "One daughter delivered in mint condition with no bumps or bruises."
"Thank you. S'hib should be by to pick her up soon," she said as Gary set Sle'anna next to her on her left side. She hoped it was soon as taking care of Sle'anna in her state was tiring to say the least. Sle'anna, now feeling her mother's touch and scent relaxed some as her whimper started. "Your appetite knows no bounds."
"I should go Naxea as S'hib is coming by. I'm sure there are things you want to talk to him about. But I'll be back later. I promise."
"You'd better," she smiled at him.
Gary made a motion of crossing his heart. His smile was from ear to ear. "I will. I promise. Now you rest."
"Sure," shebsaid, smiling at him as she watched him turn and leave.
